how long it takes to dress up

Guest rynae

Without any effort whatsoever i can pull clothing together really quickly from my closet and have everyone saying that i know how to dress as a guy. Its probably opposite for a woman where a female would take time to get dress. Then everyone would say she look like a drag  . For those of you who are MTF does it aggravate you to take hours to get the whole entire outfit perfect or do you enjoy the whole process? For those who are FTM how does it feel to finally have no effort in getting dress or do you still take the time to look good?

One of the biggest issues I'm having is judging the amount of time I need to get ready. I used to shower, dress and be done. Now I have to match my undies, then pants or skirt, then blouse, then shoes, then purse. Somewhere along that processs something always go wrong and I end up with twenty items on the bed, 5 pair of shoes on the floor and 3 or 4 purses hanging on the door knob. I haven't even sat in front of the mirror yet. Ugh!

I love every second. :-)

I am a granola girl with an inde/ hippy vibe. I just kind of throw stuff together and go to my usual make-up of tinted moisturiser using sun block as primer, and mascara. Takes all of 5-10 minutes. Sometimes, I splurge and put on eye liner on the bottom lid. If it is the night time, I spend 15 min picking out the outfit, moisturising primer, foundation, setting powder (probably should add blush in here somewhere), lipstick, brown liner on the bottom and purple liner on the top lid, mascara. Hair is ALWAYS in either a pony tail or pig tails. Once my hair dries I can take it out and have fairly straitened hair or leave it up.

From start to finish, meaning from the time I hop in the shower to when the last thing I have to do is put on lipstick, I would say it takes me about an hour and a half. I do enjoy it, most of the time. I like looking in the mirror and seeing it all come together and think "dang girl, you look great."

Oh, I don't shave my legs if I can get away with it for just one more day. It's such a chore. I'll save that for an off-day or if it's getting too long. Just shower, then makeup, then hair, then get dressed, then accessorize.

well, as a matter of fact, I have dressed up as a girl 3 or 4 times only.

when I want to dress up as man: pick the first cloth that comes in hand, wear it. use perfumes and go our :D that's so simple cause I hate it. I cant do it with love. then all the time it takes from me is 2-3 minutes.

but when I want to dress up as woman. you must be there and laugh at me. Its a full time comedy from start to the end. just last time it takes me around 2 hour. But i must mention it that I couldn't buy feminine dresses because of my parents, then I lend dresses from my friend. she is a make up master.

well, choosing a nice dress to fit me best is hard. only 1 dress I must choose But I have to find it from around 100 dresses. well, this process takes me around 1 hour.

when I find the best dress I wear it. and I look in mirror and ask my self: "Can it helps me to be looked feminine??" well, If I answer it "no" simply I try to find another one.

the next step is choosing the best wig. my hair is short and I need to use a wig. well, choosing one wig out of thousands is hard. wow, that is scary :P.

when I wear that wig and I make my hair style (simply that's Emo :D ) next step is make up. its so simple for me. cause I have to sit around 30 minutes on a chair and my friend will do every thing. she is fantastic in this step. She changes my masculine face to a beautiful feminine face only with makeups.

when make up ends, I use my eye lenses as well, my favorite color in that step is blue, but some times I use dark green too.

well the process takes me around 4 hours, and simply I must say "I have a feeling about it, my feeling is more than love." well I love every second of the process.

;) may be you think I am crazy about it. but I say :"Its once a year or twice a year. then it worse spending time on it" and maybe Ill become lazy on this. but be sure I will never get lazy on my FEMININE face.

Kim Orbit, Hoping bests for you

I am M2F.It doesn't aggravate me at all.I love it.I must confess,I'm a bit of an exhibitionist.I tend to under-dress.Always a bra;but,many times no panty.I have small genitals,so it's no problem and very comfortable.

I guess it must be only the natal girls that get aggravated from time to time taking hours to get dress up. My sister for one literally hate going shopping for clothes because the wide array of selection for clothing is too much. Although that's not to say that she doesn't like looking good. The way she describe her time shopping is mind boggling, but all worth it at the end to show off to her girl friends.

Hmm, well my daily getting dressed (fem) maybe 30 minutes. 15 minutes to pick an outfit, 5 to get dressed, 5 to shave, 5 for mascara, eyeliner, and lipstick. I'm starting to add a tinted moisturizer/sunblock so maybe 2-3 minutes for that. But that is on the truck. I do take an ungodly amount of time in the shower every other day out on the road here. But that is because I hate showers, I'm a bath person. So I just stand under the nozzle for at least half an hour before even starting to get clean. Add to that half an hour of eyebrow maintenance, arm, leg or chest hair removal. I kinda rotate thru these on a two week cycle lately. Eyebrows, arms, upper legs, brows again, lower legs, chest. That keeps all the fur under control and brows from getting all bushy on me. Half an hour with either epilator or tweezers per shower stop. All told i guess it averages to an hour a day.

At home it's probably an hour from bath to clothes to hair and makeup for basic daytime. 2 hours to get ready for an evening out. And almost all of the difference is in picking what to wear, and maybe 10 minutes extra on makeup.

I am kinda like April for everyday getting ready though. Hair is simple brush, dry and fluff. Clothes are normally cowgirl cut riding jeans, lots of clingy tops (I love showing off my tiny waist, can you blame me? Besides showing off my waist makes the lack of hips less noticeable.) I just hot a cute new denim skirt, thinking it will go nicely with leggings, my uggs and a sweater now that it's getting cooler. Probably save that outfit for when I have down time and can take myself out to a nice dinner. Don't want to get your average sex starved truckers too excited by wearing that around a truck stop. I just don't see that playing out well. I get enough of them staring with the tight jeans...

Wow, it is so weird/cool. I couldn't have really awnsered this thread two months ago! Yay for me!

When I throw off my male garb and metamophisise into Sarah it used to take about 2 hours.

Now that I know what I can and need to do it takes me about an hour.

First I decide what I am going to wear. My wardrobe is fairly limited at the moment but I can swap and change between slacks, skirts, tee shirts and blouses and shoes. I can assemble probably 20 different outfits.

Then I get everything ready in the bathroom and lock the door.

I shave twice using an emulsifying cream and shaving brush. I used to just only soap when I was at work but now put more care into removing my beard.

Then I wash my hair and shower and after drying I put on my clothes. I have dirtied tops too many times doing my make up before pulling a top over my head:-( and eventually I learned:-)

Finally I apply my make-up and brush my hair.

I have also learned it isn't necessary to slap lots of undercoat on and a thin sponge over of a tinted moisturing foundation cream just provides the base for my cheek blush and lipstick.

I do use eye shadow and mascara but cannot get on with eye liner at all.

Finally I pat on some powder with a sponge and brush my whole face with a make-up brush, avoiding the eyelashes.

My aim is to know that my make-up is there hiding what it needs to without it looking blatantly obvious.

All in all I am pleased with how I look, sort of naturally healthy.

Is it bad I spend all day preplanning my outfit to every last detail? Getting ''ready'' takes 24 hours. Getting dressed takes about 20 minutes, make-up being just foundation, eyeliner and mascara :P About 30 extra if I do a full job of make-up.

It takes me A LOT of time to look just okay. If I had the money I could look so much better in less time (by having nicer clothes that fit properly).

Since I never was very girly to begin with, I didn't spend time on hair and makeup when in that mode.

I find I actually pay more attention to what I wear as a man than I did as a woman. I actually care about little details now. Pocket squares, anyone? I was very surprised in some ways to find out I had an inner dandy. On the other hand, my dad is about as macho they come but it has always taken him much longer to get ready than any of his wives.

I take a few minutes on Sunday night to pick the work week clothes and hang them up in the closet, so all I have to do is grab the outfit in morning and get dressed. I still waste time on the grooming bit because I enjoy the ritual shave (even though I don't need it yet).

It all depends on what I have to do that day, my "routine" can take anywhere from 15 minutes to 3 hours (not all at once). I've always been one of those people who seem to occupy the bathroom longer than others, sometimes to their annoyance. Now that I've been dressing as a female for a little while it goes quicker for me. The thing that ALWAYS takes up the most time is deciding what to wear. I often find myself just staring at the clothes in my closet for 5 or 10 minutes. But when I finally decide it doesn't take all that long to get dressed. My style is always almost casual so its quicker than if I was wearing something more involved for a special occasion (or simply because I feel like it. I've been going half-and half for the past few weeks, meaning half girl and half guy clothes. I love it, and nobody seems to notice or at least care. #1 time-waster for me is hair. I consider almost everyday of my life a bad hair day :( If only it would hurry up and grow out another 6 inches and the nerve to go to a stylist instead of a barber shop I could finally get the style I want and stop stressing....

I thought it would take me a lot longer than it does. I pick out my outfit the night before, including undies, and put them in the vanity where I dress. I do often ask my wife for advice with separates to make sure colors match. Putting on the clothes in the morning takes but moments, really, unless I get stuck with a recalcitrant zipper.

I've got my makeup routine down pretty well, too. Takes 15 minutes, sometimes a little less, with foundation, eyebrow pencil, eye shadow, eyeliner and blush.

Then its just the jewelry and watch and my wig. Not bad at all. :D

It generally takes me 90 minutes to be ready enough to suit myself. I bathe, shave in the tub and wash my hair, This is really needed every day. Then I dry and put moisturiser on my whole body. Before moisturising my face I look for the hairs I missed shaving and deal with them. Then I dress, usually in this order, panties, pantihose or tights, a bra, breast forms, a smoothing camisole, a padded pantigirdle, a half slip, then my top and skirt. Then I so my make up. First a beard concealer, setting powder, a bronzer, and bit of blush. Then some eye shadow and mascara. Finally, I outline my lips then fill them in with gloss and finally apply sealing coat of lipstick. Then I dry my hair and then curl my hair with a curling iron while it is still damp and put a bit of spray on it. Then jewellery, I usually only change the earrings in the hole closest to my face, each morning. Some days I will change all three sets. Now all I need is my boots or shoes and I am ready to walk out the door. My biggest problem is remembering to change everything, i.e. wallet, keys, money, medicine. make up. and an electric shaver in the purse I am carry that day. I really enjoy this time. I listen to music, do my vocal exercises, and think about the day ahead. Most people believe I am daft to spend this much time getting ready, but it suits me and it is my time.

Cheers,

Katie Anne

I had fun doing this a few weeks ago.  This is how I got rid of -money:     This music player code of mine is really working out nice.  My music collection is all mp3 files.  I put them on my server and then code things like that to play them and loop them.  And then I coded an app while I was in the mental hospital in 2009 that I use to transcribe my music with.  It's a Windows app and you can browse to an mp3 or use a URL to an mp3.  Once it is in the program, it looks like a normal music software timeline and there are sliders to slow it down and speed it up by octaves, semitones and cents, so you have complete control over what key the music is in.  And you can create loops in it and I added a feature a few years ago where it remembers all the settings so when you open it again, you still have the same loop set with the pitch settings.  I've been putting my favorite recordings in it lately, setting the funkiest loop I can find and then slow it down an octave or more.  Then I play drums to it and piano stuff, or pennywhistle.  I like playing drums on the floor.  Even though I got rid of money and well, I should have done that decades ago, I had a good time the other day hitting my bin of GO stones with my drumstick.   I don't know if I'll get flagged for self promotion here or not.  You know, I'm a musician and I'm just sharing ideas for how to listen to and enjoy learning to play music.  I'm not the only one who has made tools like this.  I'm really geeking out on my roommates drumset.  I learned to play in the 90's, but I haven't had a set since then.  I've been playing 5 gallon plastic water bottles as hand drums for 30 years.  They are relatively inexpensive and common and they sound great.  Very fun to play along to your favorite music.  And if you can slow the music down, it can make it easier to play to for some songs.  As advanced as I get as musician, I still enjoy just meditating on playing some simple pattern over and over.  Lately I've been playing an Emin7 chord going to an Fmaj7 chord on the piano.  It's all white keys.  You just play an E and then skip a key etc...  Every other key for 4 notes and then just move that all up one key for the Fmaj7 chord.  I just like the droning quality of it.

During COVID lockdowns without any place to go, some neighborhood buddies and I would play Life for hours (imagine a bunch of middle aged men playing that game, it was a hoot - all sorts of 'house rules')... anyways, as much as I could get away with it, I would choose a pink peg to represent myself... sometimes even had a female name to go with it... this was before I even really pondered whether or not I was trans ...   I was very determined to do this ... so interesting to look back and see all the threads pointing me to where I am now, though it has come as such a surprise as well...   Easy

Thank you all for the helpful responses... I realize some of HRT is for mental health -- like I said above I really am enjoying the ride so far in that regard!   Guess there is a part of me that wants to have my cake and eat it too. I want to have a nice feminine shape within reason for my age (fat distribution - you can kick in whenever you want!!). Yet, I am still not out to family, so I want it to be subtle enough as I go along that I can cover tracks when necessary ... Not the ideal situation but it is what it is ... maybe when family realizes that this is not making me into a monster, they will come around to some of it. I can hope, right?   More and more, I just want to look in the mirror and see a female body staring back at me ... I want female clothing that I put on to look like it fits me to a T... (and by T, I don't mean testosterone, lol)...    EasyE

Good afternoon M.A.   Welcome to Transgender Pulse Forums, I think you'll find that there are a lot of us who had their first therapist reconsidering our story and recommended us to gender or LGBTQIA specific therapist. I made my first therapist cry after asking me what was my worst experience or memory. She was not prepared for the can of worms I brought to the couch. My second therapist is a gem, she's my age and knows how to work with my thoughts.    My two kids were also involved in the arts programs in school one in theater, the other combined art and modern music.   Best wishes, stay positive, and motivated,    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

That's very common in internet forums and it is hard not to take it personally sometimes.   You might post "bump" with a smiley face to bring it to the top of the stack, or you might use the @ feature if there are certain people you would really like to have comment on it, and say something like Dear Abby, I would really like your input on this.  Please take a minute and respond.  Thanks!!!
