Bathroom/shower passing?

Hey everyone.

I have a question I have been wondering about, I guess mainly for those of you who are living full time as your preferred gender and going to school, college etc.

I watched the documentary Transgender Kids quite a few times. I think it is great. But for those kids, who are out full time and in school, it made me wonder how they cope with things like showering after phys ed etc. I am just curious to hear if you are familiar with the policy of schools all over the place. Like, will they let you go to shower a few minutes before everyone else, what reason will they give the other students etc.? Or do they just shower together? And what when you're older and play college sports etc?Have anyone here had to deal with it and how did you do it?

I am just wondering. I had this thought that maybe you could argue that it was some religiously related thing. For instance, at many schools students who are not allowed to show themselves naked in their religion get to shower alone. But if you don't have that religion, you'd have to pretend in all other regards too and that's not really a great solution.

I don't mean to cross any lines by asking this but I am just very curious. I also would like to hear how people are dealing with it because I am going to college myself soon and if I choose to play any campus sports the issue will present itself.

Thanx! :)

In a lot of shower moments, every seems to mind to themselves anyways. With a hand or two covering up and a private area to yourself, they'll just think you're insecure and not of the opposite gender. I feel asking the coaches for special privileges would only bring about dislike and greater peer curiosity.

Great question, man. While I'm a transwoman and am majorly too old for school and/or college, I CAN tell you this much, and I believe you'll find it very interesting and applicable to your question.

For years, I've used both co-ed locker rooms and co-ed showers with no problem whatsoever. In fact, I thoroughly enjoyed both experience time and time again. Of course, this was at clothing-optional resorts which I've frequented and loved for nearly three decades now inasmuch as I'm a card-carrying (A.A.N.R.) nudist and free spirit.

My point? Those other men and women, teens and kids in the locker rooms and showers with me had no special training, no prior screening and no hassles of any kind. They learned the rules of respect and decency before paying their grounds fees before entering those facilities and just did it! It really IS that easy! Literally, in the blink of an eye, decades, centuries and maybe millenia of social conditioning just evaporated away.

So, how does this pertain to you and your question? Well, just know that it IS positive to have co-ed locker rooms and co-ed showers where people wear nothing but a smile, are peaceful and respectful. I know. I've done it ... many times.

Schools and colleges need only go to the A.A.N.R. website, look and learn that their fears are needless ONCE PEOPLE'S ATTITUDES BECOME ENLIGHTENED! It CAN be done! Look, when I was your age, there was no such thing as a family restroom in a mall or a gender-neutral restroom anywhere and anytime for any reason. Believe me, we've come a long, long way since then. We can go further still. You may want to turn the administration at your school on to the website I mention here.

Peace  Lacey

Lacey, that IS interesting! Thanks for sharing that! I will certainly try to affect the administration. Furthermore, I can't be the only person at school who'd like a co-ed locker room. It's very cool if you inform people about general rules before they enter. Then it's like a world of its own in there where you're just supposed to do what you gotta do n peace and quiet. I really, really like that thought! :)

So yeah, THANKS a bunch! I'll certainly use this!

You’re welcome, Vidanjali. Now I have to actually start writing!

Society is preserved by passing on proper roles for people, which works for the 90+ percent that it works for.   We were all taught from an early age that breaking out of the classification was a shameful thing, even when, actually, it is not.

I'm probably showing my age.  I haven't looked at a guest count in a long time.  Doing FB and staying off forums for a while.  Previous forum use had fewer bots if any and guests were actual people, mostly, unlike today.    Any AIs or bots struggling with GD are welcome.  I would love to read your introduction.

I've seen this on a lot of forums tbh. That's how a lot of content ends up on internet archives. You've got loads of bots scanning the site at all times and archiving it. Forums are actually nice (in comparison to social media) in that the guest count gives you a pretty good idea of how actively the site's content is being archived. Basically just don't post anything you don't want archived.

Kids are resiliant with therapy and strong support ;-)    They were all elementary age when their dad died and are teens now, and how they've grown and developed as young people, already, takes my breath away.   I'm working on communicating changes clearly and without shame, which is difficult basically all the time because of feeling guilty over doing gender "wrong" for so long. Working on that myself! <3

Allow me to add that people should think twice about posting pictures of themselves, with the facial recognition software that is out there.  Those in stealth or who are not fully out may discover they are suddenly and unwillingly fully out in ways they wish had not happened.

Funny how when i read the topic name i thought you were asking about the study of plants and animals.  I'm a bit into that as a farmer at va time when a cell phone makes plant  for insect identification easier than it has ever been.    Now on to your topic.  I don't farm in the nude.  I have wondered at whether i would skinny dip as i did as a kid without thought of how my body might affect others.  The effects of hormones makes me different from the average person and perhaps i'm "neither fish nor fowl".  I would certainly depend on who my fellow passengers on that cruise would be.   Hugs,   Charlize

This is also a relatively small forum and it can take a long time, seemingly, for someone to get around to replying to a post.

I am also pretty sure that several of them are folks who are "trans curious".  Sometimes folks who are trying to find their own identity, are attracted to trans folks or who are simply interested in the trans community.   There may also be some who wish to do us harm which is why ......... I've just learned to smile figuring "i'm on candid camera".   I'm sure many of our younger members never experienced that show so my age is showing.   Hugs,   Charlize

Most of those "guests" are web bots from China, Indonesia, France etc. looking us over. They are mostly benign.  All they can see or gain access to are the general forums.  Members should be careful not to post anything that could readily identify themselves such as real names, addresses, phone numbers, etc. They do not have access to our gallery, blogs or private messenger. They seem to haunt all forums. Not just us. I should add that they can make us known across the internet. That's how prospective members find us. Google would be a good example.

I hope he gets what he deserves.

Heck I didn't even know they could go up that high! I just have a four burner and one to keep stuff warm. What kind of pies did you make?

I'm sure you'd rock it, girl!
