I want to cut off my genitals right now with a knife I have, if I do that will I not be able to get the m-t-f surgery that would give me a vagina? Would there be any other negative effects? Would I be unable to get any other kind of surgery i want? Please tell me every bad thing that would happen if I did it right now.

I have to agree with petra anyway i dont think youd be able to get the srgery because they take the skin from the gentials you were born with to make your vagina (i think thats spelled wrong) so you wouldnt be able to have your surgery

Besides not being able to get your surgery -which you wouldn't be able to get- you would also probably end up on a psych unit and deemed unstable to proceed with your transition all together since you obviously would not be "responsible" enough to handle hrt medicine nor be credible to a therapist regarding your GID.

Short answer is if you do it you will louse EVERYTHING.

The Horror stories from people who tried to do this themselves would turn your hair white. You need that tissue for SRS later. All who did it themselves deeply regret doing so becuase they are now stuck. Your situation is not hopeless and many here have been exactly where you are now but they made it through and later had their surgery. If you are not in a position to afford SRS now Consider an orchiectomy done by an experienced surgeon. Costs run under 2000 dollars. If it is done right you can still obtain SRS later. Most Urologist surgeons can also perform this surgery. You will need to see a gender therapist to get approval. With your distress level that shou;dn't be a problem.

Aside from bleeding to death you would be altering your future permanently and you are not likley thinking clearly right now and ready to act impulsivley. Before taking a permanent step to harm yourself I urge you to call 911 or a suicide prevention hotline immediatly. Don't harm yourself as you will deeply regret it later. Get help immediatly.

In short: DON'T DO IT.

You would most likely faint from the pain or lose consciousness due to shock, then you would bleed to death. That sounds pretty negative to me.

Even if you managed to survive, you'd never be able to pee right and die of severe urinary tract infection. Even people who have a professional castration done by a doctor are in great pain, require pain medications, and have many weeks of recovery time. Save up some money. Find a therapist and get a note. Call a doctor and get an orchiectomy. Your life is worth a lot more than the potential $1500 you'd save by doing it yourself.

For someone with severe Gender Dysphoria that suggestion isn't going to work as it's not about what you wear. In some it is so severe that many don't feel there is any other choice. This is very common in Transsexuals. SRS for some is the only answer in cases like this. This is why the Transsexual suicide rate is so high. When SRS is delayed it can be unbearable for some. The best thing though to remember is that damage to oneself now can lessen ones options later. In the meantime therapy and sometimes depression medication is the best option until SRS is obtainable. Some need castration in the meantime. Fortunately any urology surgeon can do this with a therapist recommendation.

Doctor's do it to cover themselves (CYA). Certainly you can try without a note. Most though require one to make sure your mental health is ok and that you know the risks. About a year ago in the UK a Doctor was sued for not screening the patient properly. She had SRS and later regreted it. She blamed the Gender Clinic. With the severity of your distress I doubt a therapist would give you a problem. I don't make the rules hon.

It's a rotten dirty shame that our system requires a person to go thru all kind of hoops to get certain medical procedures done. Not only SRS, but other procedures as well. I have permanent nerve damage in my back. They had me try physical therapy and a few other things because the insurance company didn't want to pay for a more expensive treatment from the start. I ended up having back surgery that was unsuccessful. I believe that if I would have had surgery to begin with, I would be fine today. I feel that our healthcare system has gotten to be too money oriented, it's become nothing but big business. Let's drag our feet on authorizing these procedures because it might cost to much or if someone might be sued. In the meantime someone dies. Well, I guess that'll be one less expense that the system has to deal with, and everyone in the system can all go down to the country club for a round of golf.

My god! If someone is that desparate for a procedure like SRS that he's ready to do bodily harm to himself, shouldn't that tell you something?
