growing hair out

Tip 1 -- no taking shortcuts over near the Barber Shop!!! :harhar:

Tip 2 -- The hair on your head will grow much slower than the hair on your chin!! :doh1:

Ok, now to be a little bit serious --

Do not wash your hair every day, About once every three or four days is fine. Use a creme rinse per its directions.

Do get split ends trimmed regularly, but do not get your hair cut while it is wet.

Do not get your hair trimmed when a cheap place is doing "power" hair cuts on a bunch of males. (It was a 3 month setback for me)

My hair is collar bone length after 2 years on HRT, I started with a military style men's cut in 2009. (That is a wig in my avatar.)

Invest in a nice looking wig that you can wear until your hair grows out so you don't have to stay indoors until your hair grows out.

Hi.

Thanks for the tips.

One problem I find is in the mornings my hair is such a mess I have no alternative other than to wash it. I don't think I could let my hair go several days without washing it.

My hair is nearly to the bottom of my ears however I am quite thin on top. I am hoping when it is a little longer to ask a hairdresser whether they think there is any way my hair could be styled.

I have quite a good quality wig but for some reason I just don't like wearing it.It's not natural.

The only way I will be pleased will be if I can show off my natural hair. I just have to keep my fingers crossed that something can be done with it after all this time of growing it.

I used to have it cut to a no 2, about 1/4" all over so I was on the back foot from the start.

However the money I have saved is being usd for other natural things:-).

Do you have a full head of hair or is it a tad bit needing? If it's a little thin, my Doc said that the latest info on it is Rogaine cream (not the liquid) and finasteride, a very low dose which I won't post per the forums rules. If you mean just growing what you have, somewhere around 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch per month from what I've read. And you know, if it's on the internet, it HAS to be right. Right? Oh...

Hair generally grows about 1/2" a month or about 6" a year, it could grow faster or slower, if you are thin on top a Finasteride product like Proscar or Propecia that blocks DHT can help stop the loss and might even regrow some hair, when i started growing mine i got a short hairstyle magazine from the grocery store, i am older and a shorter style is what i wanted, there are long style magazines too, i picked a style that suited my face type and took it to a salon and told the stylist this is the style i wanted my hair when it got long enough, each 4 - 8 weeks i went back to have it shaped.

My hair is just passed my shoulders and I have been growing it out since October2009. Since I started hrt in Feb it seems to be growing much faster. But really I think it may just all depend on your genes.

One thing I was told by my hairdresser is to massage your hair for up to 15 minutes a day. It's supposed to stimulate the growth.

Caitlintg, I am "very" thin on top and what hair I have is very fine though quite thick at the sides.

Presently I am taking Finasteride daily. How long should I continue with this before admitting there is no hope for more hair please?

Best wishes,

Sarahw

Mine took at least 2 years to grow out and from what I read, there really weren't any short cuts or quick fixes. Just time and regular hair cuts to only remove the split ends. I also used decent quality conditioner. Not salon-brand but not the cheap $0.99 stuff either.

My size. A lot of guys aren't 5'3" at seventeen. My hands. It's a less noticeable one, but my hands are very "feminine"? If you know what I mean. My voice. Very high-pitched. I don't just sound like a female, I sound like a little girl sometimes My chest. I've had to stop binding due to frequent aches doing so, and it's not nearly small enough to just cover with baggy clothes My family. They still call me she/her, so that's an automatic out. My anxiety. I might be able to pass better if I had the courage to correct people. Instead, I'm too scared to speak up, so I find it hard. My lack of men's clothes.   Anyone else have these problems, or other ones?

From what I have read and heard most people are so.busy with their everyday lives and either looking at their phones or in a hurry to notice you out and about.

This exactly ^^^   I actually really liked games where I was required to play a male character. It felt homey, in a way.

I can relate.  I have always played a female character when given the opportunity. Not really and reason except I just alway pick them since I was young

Yes, our little town is having its 3rd annual Pridefest. I've volunteered the first two years  from setup to tear down (though I do take an hour off to eat and drink in the middle).     Then I attend a bigger one a couple towns over that has had some decent entertainment from some semi-famous folks (Laura Benanti, Patrick Wilson, Carmen Carrera, Judy Gold, etc).    This year I made sure to ask off of (weekend) shifts to attend a 3rd one where a group I'm in is in the parade.

Hi Vicky, I agree with you, so far since the time I've been under the new treating doctor's care, she prescribed me medication, but it's for children lol  luckily  my pharmacy warned me from a phone call not to take the medication.

Welcome to the party, M.A.     Sounds chaotic haha, I can confidently say that living with only two children the same age is stressful enough, much less three!

Things hit the fan today. I was reminded that "this is not a gender fluid establishment."   I had changed my preferred name and gender at the hospital on their app. My x-ray report came in with my preferred name and gender. It was not appreciated by the centre. 😬

I'm not a nutritionist but I've gone on bulking diets in the past so I can suggest a couple things to try. Foremost, food-prep stuff that you like to eat. Any 'real food' that usually sounds good to you. That way, you don't have the time-sink or hassle of cooking for every meal. You're more likely to eat if stuff if it's convenient and mostly ready. For example, I'll spend an hour or so one evening prepping burrito ingredients that will last me the next 3 nights. Then it's just a matter of microwaving the beef/beans and throwing them into a tortilla; takes 5 min.   If you need food 'on the go' often, consider prepping smoothies in advance pre-separated out into individual containers. I personally like low-no fat yogurt blended with fruit and, here's the weird part, those water flavor drops. They add sweetness without dumping in excess sugar. Insulated containers will keep them reasonably fresh non-refridgerated all day so they can even be tossed into a backpack.    Hope of those sparked some ideas!
