Has anyone else noticed this?

Hi!

I'm not on cross gendered hormones yet but next week I will be meeting with someone to get the initial blood work done. But what I have noticed is the effect of HrT being realized of how it is no longer something that might be 1 year or 2 years away but rather something that is days away has had on me. Over the past week my productivity in everything has sky rocketed and I have been in a fairly consistent good mood. Its a pretty reassuring thing.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Most definitely Bobbi. Its helped me out so much. Like I've become a social creature again even without the hormones I've become more comfortable with myself and it shows in all my interactions. I can joke playfully with coworkers now, I can also no be the one who reaches out to other local transpeople to help them instead of being one of the local transpeople that need someone to reach out to her to help her. It doesn't even bother me what gender people refer to me as, I know who I am.

The waiting part just seemed to be the worst for me. Kind of like a period of no progress being made.

But I agree, just getting some news that something is finally happening can really lift your spirits!

Hi Orva,

Just before I started last summer, I had a business trip to Las Vegas, I was tasked with setting up networking and software for our company at a trade show. I had my prescriptions in hand a day before I had to leave, however did not want to start "on the road", so I put my scripts away in my old purse and left them at home. That business trip was one of the best and most productive ever, I took my wife and kids along, my extended family just happened to show up in Vegas, so my daughters saw their grandmother, aunts, cousins, etc. I handled all the logistics, family issues, technical issues, business issues, money issues, and everyone got home safe, then I downed my first dose. Just knowing I had everything lined up made this seemingly complicated trip, just sail by.

May your experience be smooth.

I am only days away from starting HRT myself and I have noticed a similar trend. It almost makes me question whether I really need the HRT or if maybe I could get by without them. My line of thinking is that perhaps being able to express myself as female and dressing as I wish might be enough to keep me sane. Then I wake up LONGING for full femaleness again, and realize that though it is nice to have some 'breathing room', living 'in between genders' is really unsustainable for me in the long run....

I've had a real burst of forward energy lately, too. I like the trend, but desire the full effect even more...

Love and such, Svenna

I've gotten the same thought on more than one occasion. In fact it is probably what made me hold out for around 9 months instead of the 3 required by the SoC. But I've come to realize there is no virtue in denying myself. Will I explode without hormones? Probably not (at least not immediately). But do I desire them? HELL YES!

I'm taking being pleased even before them as a positive indication. :)

As one of the "old girls" who has been on the 'mones for two years, I did indeed have the pre approval rush you girls are mentioning. It is a freedom from worry and will I, won't I daily hits on the head. It is an affirmation of your reality, and your sense of self. My finding of being on them, is that a foggy gray area of my life now has sunlight in it for the first time ever.

Isn't it illegal to be examining people's genitals without their consent?    Could've sworn that was some sort of law already.

Oddly i often feel i pass but then bump into someone who reads my past attempts at maleness.    Last week at the market a man spoke me as i went back to my car.  I heard "You are beautiful"!  Odd!!!!!  Then he said something about marriage and i started to get worried.  Turned out he is married to a trans woman.  He was sweet and probably is tuned to trans folks but it was a bit disquieting.     Hugs,   Charlize

I decided to power wash our back porch and the porch furniture so the uniform of the day is a skort, t-shirt over a sports bra and flip flops with my hair pulled back into a ponytail.

It's been touched on in another thread, the perception that the folks who scream loudest in favor of free speech are also the loudest in wanting to stifle the freedom of people not like themselves.

I wonder if the LGBTQI+ umbrella should be split? Create separate entities for LGB and TQI+ folk?    I have no doubt that some cis het people probably think that sexuality and gender identity are the same thing, for whatever the reason, not necessarily willful ignorance. It would be natural for such people to observe that both LGB and T folk are under the same umbrella, so they must be the same, right?   Just as (and I know I'm making some pretty big assumptions in this post) some cis gay folk would think that the LBGTQI+ umbrella is pie - give trans people a slice, and somehow, they will miss out. Just like cis het folk might also think that their lives are somehow being diminished by allowing trans people to have basic human rights.

Suppressing your emotions because you’re afraid of them can be bad for your physical and mental health. Here’s what to do instead. When a toddler feels a “big” emotion, like anger or sadness, they tend to have a big tantrum on the floor. And these tantrums can be a lot to observe, full of thrashing, screaming, and tears. But a child reacts like this because the emotion they’re feeling is uncomfortable, maybe even painful.   Of course, as adults, we feel emotions too, and those feelings can be just as overwhelming, uncomfortable, or even painful as they were when we were children, even if we don’t let ourselves react in such a big way. But, sometimes, in our attempts to not give in to our emotions, we go too far: we run from them or suppress them — even if that harms us in the long run. Although there are many reasons we might suppress our emotions, one of them is that we are afraid of our emotions. Fear of emotions is called “animotophobia. It is not an official term in the DSM-5-TR. Still, fearing your emotions can have a significant impact on your well-being.

Been a while.... Do you sing or play an instrument?   I sing, write songs, play guitar, bass, harp. It is my sanctuary.

@KaitSo glad you are here. It's never too late to talk to your doctor. bI was 68 before I stopped lying to myself and talked to my doctor. He or she might be able to help. It may be easier to find an endocrinologist you specializes or a health care group who specializes. You might also seek out a therapist who specializes to help with HRT resources. Psychology Today can help find therapists who specialize. Glad you are here. WELCOME.
