Something interesting happened to me recently and I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience with their voice.

I started practicing my fem voice several weeks ago because even though I'm still presenting male to the world, I'm told the voice is one of the hardest things to master and I'm trying to get as much practice as I can when I'm alone.

I record myself so I can playback and try to adjust. I think I'm getting there, my last few recordings sounded pretty feminine normal. Now for the interesting thing.

The more feminine I sound, the more I am speaking with a very distinct southern accent. I was not raised in the south and my male voice has no southern accent to it at all. Could it be that I'm using my throat muscles differently and that's what is causing it?

It has me a little freaked out at the moment. I mean I sound like a true southern belle, you can hear the honey dripping in my voice. I will admit it is somewhat sexy to listen to but it's not the "me" I'm used to.

Has anyone else had an experience where their voice changed accent when they were going MTF or FTM?

I was raised in the south, but I will say that my female voice has a stronger accent than my male one did. I think part of the reason i do this is that it helps with the pitch intonations

There may be something to that. When I try to go deeper, the accent comes out more.
