hi Im becoming a little worried about my eating habits. not sure exactly what the problem is, but ill try to describe as best i can.

Ok in the past i have never been happy with my body, but have always ended up giving up on every healthy eating plan i ever went on. I would get very depressed about not being the right size, shape or weight. but instead of being good i would binge on chocolate sweets and junk food. This in turn starts a vicious circle and gets worse as it goes on. i am now accoring to weight charts 28 pounds 2 stone over weight. i am 5'10" and weigh 14.5 stone just over 200 pounds. this is the heavyest ive ever been. This admittedly partly due to giving up smoking but none the less it really bad.

The problem now is that in the last week or so i have started to obsesively watch what i eat living on salad and museli.

This has happened since coming to terms with my gender issues. I am becoming much more convinced that i am going to change my body to the female form.

i suppose what im asking is should i worry too much about this new change, or is it actually a god thing that i am now attempting to take care of myself with the intention of transitioning from mtf.

Hope that made sense.

P.S what would people say was a healthy weight for a woman at 5'10" cos im not sure i trust the weight charts on google entierly. Thanks

Moggy, your changed eating habits are absolutely a good thing, and I am proud of you for starting this new diet. Just remember not to overdo it. Take things slow and in moderation so as not to shock your body, and eat a balanced diet so you get all the proper nutrients. Calcium will be important when you transition. A daily vitamin supplement is good, but there is no substitute for a well rounded diet.

When I decided to transition the same thing happened to me. So I decided to make the best of it. But I also didn't see any sense in going through all the effort to transition and end up sick because I didn't eat properly. Or lose weight only to end up worse off in the long run. Plus when you cut down too far your body goes into starvation mode, energy plummets eventually and weight loss stops. None of which I wanted.

So I found a site-livestrong.com is the easiest I have found to use-and started keeping track as well as planning what I was going to eat. I found what I like and satisfies me and sometimes even had to force myself to eat in order to keep my nutrition where it needed to be. I eat more one day a week to keep my metabolism up. When I started I couldn't walk more than 20-30 feet. Now I have lost almost 150 lbs-in 11 months and at 64 years old. Only 40 lbs still to go. I can and do hike the woods again. I can't express what it has meant to my life. Every hour, every moment is better.

So use this sudden change but do it in a way that will make a difference in your life. If I can do this at my age and with some major health challenges you can for sure. And it is beyond description. You can be what you dream. You really can.

As a side note though it is a good idea ti have a checkup and keep your Dr. informed as you go along because there are some medications and such that are affected by body mass

Good luck with it, I hope it is as miraculous for you as it has been for me.
