How many people go to SRS/bottom surgery with someone?

  1. 1. From what you've read, does it seem like most go with a friend?

I was curious how many people, MtF or FtM go to the genital surgery clinic with someone? A friend? A fellow trans-friend?

It seems like quite a few from what I've read, but I'd like to know how many actually go alone. And especially for MtF's who elect to go to Thailand for surgery?

Interesting question. I've asked my mother and a good friend, but that time is a long ways away yet... I don't really have any trans friends close enough that I would ask to go to Thailand with me for a month but maybe. I'll have to see when I get there.

.

My letter is on file with Dr. Preecha in Bangkok....

When I go, my girlfriend will be with me...because we'll get SRS at the same time....

Go figure!

Hm, that's interesting!

So I'm still not really sure, but it sounds more like it's an optional thing. In most of the trans films I've seen the women took a friend with them, maybe that's just Hollywood or something.

That's a beautiful way to do it :)

I'd want to have someone with me to remind me I don't have to be a loner any more. Either a friend or one of my parents. It'll be like choosing my maid of honour :)

A good friend from my local group went with me, there are a few people from my local group that went to Thailand by themselves and had no problems, if they did they do not talk about them, there are others i know that had surgery here in the US or Canada that also went alone that did fine. personally i think it is better having someone with you, the first couple weeks after surgery moving around or getting up is uncomfortable and sometimes painful, at least it was for me.

Personally i could not imagine being half way around the world, in a strange country by myself having major surgery.

I had planned to go it alone, due to finances, but my gf flew out while I was on the table to surprise me when i woke up. Yes, she's incredible. She was with me from the Fri I had my surgery to the following Mon. She got me through the worst of it, helping me out of bed the first few times etc, and of course the company couldn't be beat.

Can it be done on your own, absolutely! But having someone there just makes it all the better.

My boyfriend and mother are going to be coming with me out to San Francisco for my appointment. Feeling so lucky to have them both willing to come along on the journey

I will be flying to Miami to be with my friend Rita when she takes her final step and has orchie. I will stay three days and then head home, which is her plan. Personally, I think she should have allowed more time but I guess she will be able to drive from Miami to Jacksonville Florida that soon after, right?

Kelise hit the nail on the head, though, when she said that the company can't be beat!

I'll probably be alone to thailand. Although some of my other sisters wanted to go with me and get some surgeries done at the same time.

Whatever it is I think and preparing for alone...... But i'll have you guys to talk to while I'm there :)

It would be nice to have someone come along to help you while you're recovering but sometimes with schedules and all it doesn't work out that way. Someone to get your bag to get something out, or get something that dropped on the floor, etc.

I really don't think that's a good idea. The unity of the LGB and T community is historic and has been central for both groups rights. And the vast majority of people advocating for splitting the two are transphobic LGB's who are broadly condemned by the community anyway.

A bit late in updating, but I've had the draft of the official diagnosis and have (as yet unconfirmed) an endo consultation next month.   Next to arrive will be the supporting documentation for my new passport application for my correct gender.  This will then be my official ID for all the other updates - bank, tax, payroll etc.   It just feels good to to be proactive again rather than waiting for other people to move at a leisurely pace.

I like ELF brand cosmetics, I can pick them up at JC Penny.    I wear makeup everyday, but mostly just very light makeup.

Hi Mae Be, whenever it comes to makeup, there are so many different bands to choose from. Picking out the right makeup comes with trial and error, until you find one that works for you and blends well with your skin tone, some makeup products can leave the skin feeling oily. It's a good idea to look at the labels on the makeup product to know what the creators put in the makeup, just in case skin allergies. Once you found the makeup brand, you can add it to your shopping list, good luck

To be fair I’m pretty lost when it comes to makeup technique. I’ve watched videos, but I have no idea what works for or would help my features. So I just bungle along, hoping I don’t look terrible.
