The Huffington Post - Friend to Our Community

If you've spent much time in this forum reading the articles posted by me and other members, you know how supportive and informative the Post has become. Nearly every day they have important and interesting articles about the LGBT Community, and about TG issues specifically. I have not found the breadth and depth of fair reporting in any other publication.

A feature of their web site that I appreciate is that their comments section is moderated and they have a strict policy against hate and bashing and all the rubbish you see elsewhere.

I didn't care much for Arianna Huffington when she got involved in California politics, but she and her colleagues are doing our community a huge service. I think we can and should support their efforts whenever we have the opportunity.

I think the Huffington Post publishes a variety of voices and I think Arianna is well-spoken, articulate. I haven't paid close attention to all her views but whenever I have heard her speak, I liked what she said. Don't feel strongly about her one way or the other.

As a commenter on HuffPo, I will say that there is a whole lot of stupid in the comments and while it may not seem offensive to the moderators there, it does need to be called out from time to time. There are a number of excellent trans people who work to combat it there, but there can never be enough people speaking truth to stupid. If you read an article, check the comments and respond appropriately when necessary. Also, thank the authors for their work

Maybe they should make you do a puzzle/question before you're a allowed to post comments anywhere on the internet... something easy like 'the earth is the center of our solar system: t or f?' That would remove 25% of the worst comments right there, easy.

Thom Hartman and Bernie Sanders got me hooked on them, and every day I get like 5 emails of a wide variety of topics, from general, political, green and even Denver based news. Totally love it.
