Tattoo Removal

Just wondering if anyone here has had a tattoo removed and what the process was like?

I have one that is about 3 to 4 inches around that I want to get rid of. It represents a tie to my ex and I want it gone.

I'd be interested to find out about it too. My tattoo doesn't bother me so much, but it's right over my left breast and it's likely that it will distort as I develop, and I'm really not attached to it. It will probably be easier and cheaper, though, to just wait til I more or less fully develop and get it turned into something else that does fit. I dunno.

Just remember that as your breasts develop, they will become MUCH MORE sensitive and tender......

Maybe now is the time for removal if you don't want to keep it!

I too have a tat, but it's on my ankle and , for right now, it's still a part of my life. What I understand about Tattoo removal is this: the old method was to cut the tattoo out and then do a skin graft. Now days they use a laser. The laser is very effective against the bluish and darker pigmented inks, and not so good on lighter colors. I understand it's painful, likea second degree burn, it will blister, but not scar. However, it will leave a noticable lightened area where the tat was.

If anybody, has personal know that is contrary to what I have posted, feel free to correct me. This is just what I understand.

All of the places I have check so far use the laser method. They say it takes up to eight sessions with six to eight weeks between each session. One place says they use a different adjustment of the laser each time to target specific color ranges. Like Laura said they say it is like getting a sunburn or second degree burn.

Mia, I don't know if this helps, but its intended to. If your main problem is the image represents a tie to your ex, a lot of tattoo places will convert an existing tattoo quite artfully into something a bit different in a way that obscures or changes text etc. Depending on what it is, that might be easier and less expensive than complete removal via laser. Maybe that's not going to do it for you tho.

Oh....tattoos! ACK!!!

I have some aweful ones from my Supermale days...

I went to a laser doc, and he said he could remove mine, but it would not be cheap, and had to be done over several sessions. Part of the price is him tending the laser wounds. Sounds bad, but a good way to get rid of the tats.

It might be better than adding more ink. Tats don't look good after they've been there a long time, and a cover-job has to be really good to work...and it will still fade, too.

Like KayJo said, you can do a cover-up. I have a failrly poorly done heart tattoo low on my hip. I have used TCA (trichloroacetic acid) diluted 50:50 with water to fade it quite a bit, but not completely remove it. Now that it is faded, a cover-up tattoo should be easier.

Well I went in for my first treatment a few weeks ago and it was not bad. They blow very cold air over the area and when the laser fires there is a brief pain that builds up and then fades. Afterword they cover it and give you a cold pack to use which was interesting trying to keep it on my butt while going home. The pain level after they were done was like a moderate sunburn or second degree burn and it only lasted for about an hour.

Just like a sunburn it was sensitive to the touch for a few days and then started to itch. About a week after it was done it also peeled like a sunburn.

They estimated I would need four to six treatments to completely clear it off. The good news is that after the first treatment you really have to struggle to even read the writing. It is going to cost much more to get it off than it did getting it put on but will be worth it to both me and my spouse to be free of it.

      My size. A lot of guys aren't 5'3" at seventeen. My hands. It's a less noticeable one, but my hands are very "feminine"? If you know what I mean. My voice. Very high-pitched. I don't just sound like a female, I sound like a little girl sometimes My chest. I've had to stop binding due to frequent aches doing so, and it's not nearly small enough to just cover with baggy clothes My family. They still call me she/her, so that's an automatic out. My anxiety. I might be able to pass better if I had the courage to correct people. Instead, I'm too scared to speak up, so I find it hard. My lack of men's clothes.   Anyone else have these problems, or other ones?

      I can relate.  I have always played a female character when given the opportunity. Not really and reason except I just alway pick them since I was young

      Yes, our little town is having its 3rd annual Pridefest. I've volunteered the first two years  from setup to tear down (though I do take an hour off to eat and drink in the middle).     Then I attend a bigger one a couple towns over that has had some decent entertainment from some semi-famous folks (Laura Benanti, Patrick Wilson, Carmen Carrera, Judy Gold, etc).    This year I made sure to ask off of (weekend) shifts to attend a 3rd one where a group I'm in is in the parade.

      Hi Vicky, I agree with you, so far since the time I've been under the new treating doctor's care, she prescribed me medication, but it's for children lol  luckily  my pharmacy warned me from a phone call not to take the medication.

      Things hit the fan today. I was reminded that "this is not a gender fluid establishment."   I had changed my preferred name and gender at the hospital on their app. My x-ray report came in with my preferred name and gender. It was not appreciated by the centre. 😬

      I'm not a nutritionist but I've gone on bulking diets in the past so I can suggest a couple things to try. Foremost, food-prep stuff that you like to eat. Any 'real food' that usually sounds good to you. That way, you don't have the time-sink or hassle of cooking for every meal. You're more likely to eat if stuff if it's convenient and mostly ready. For example, I'll spend an hour or so one evening prepping burrito ingredients that will last me the next 3 nights. Then it's just a matter of microwaving the beef/beans and throwing them into a tortilla; takes 5 min.   If you need food 'on the go' often, consider prepping smoothies in advance pre-separated out into individual containers. I personally like low-no fat yogurt blended with fruit and, here's the weird part, those water flavor drops. They add sweetness without dumping in excess sugar. Insulated containers will keep them reasonably fresh non-refridgerated all day so they can even be tossed into a backpack.    Hope of those sparked some ideas!
