First off, sorry if this is in the wrong part of the forum but i did look and could'nt find the right place to put it in (unless i'm blind hehe) but anywas, In a frew days i plan to make my self look more feminin, by buying some make up supplys, could anyone give me any tips on what products to buy? mainly ones that make my skin look less manly =P

I'm afraid I dont' have any advice for you though, I don't wear makeup for the most part.

I know a lot of girls wear foundation, though I personally do not. The only things I wear is eye liner, mascara and sometimes eye shadow if I am going to work. If I really feel so inclined, I add a very muted soft lipstick. Of course, what works for me, may or may not work for everyone . . . we all come in so many different sizes and shapes, I can only share what I do.

Nails are another option. And there are different "levels" if you will. Sometimes I like to spend the time and go all out and do my own French Manicure (gah, time meaning lots of it - I usually have 5 or 6 coats before I am done), or quicker and easier, just one color. Or if you would like to tone it down even more, you can go the buffed nails route. Your nails will look easily as shiny (if not shinier) as nail polish.

Personally, I always stick to the "less is more" approach and totally avoid like the plague this "if a little is good a lot must be better" misconception. Just my 2¢. :-)

red nail polish [switch out one finger at a time and no ones noticed - baby steps!]

Im all at sea when it comes to foundation / bronzer etc so Ill be having a scout about youtube before I invest in anything like that.

Like Bettet2010 said above, it varies from girl to girl, some wear more, some less, you will have to experiment with what works best for you and develop the look you want over many practice sessions.

Personally I am still in the experimenting phase and have finally worked out the look I am happy with for my eyes. Foundation is really based on your skin condition and how happy you are with it. I have a makeup case full of stuff and foundation is the one that still kicks my rear the most, well that and getting the lipstick or gloss right... just work it out area by area and it will all come together..

If you have an iphone/ipad/ipod touch, there are some decent apps that will give you tips and techniques for various makeup looks, I found those were of great help when starting out as they gave me a good grasp of the basics.

Next few practice sessions will be focused on foundation..once I get that down it's onto the blush, I find that looking at pictures of makeup jobs that you would like to emulate give me a lot of information on how they were done. Just eye them with an almost forensic mindset.

Since most of us didn't have the benefit of getting lessons from our mothers and sisters starting at an early age, we have to do the best we can, but the good news is that it's fun to practice and feels great when you get it right!!
