Making a change to my daily ritual.

Ok, most of you have probably at least heard of Tim Hortons. It's Canada's biggest coffee and donuts chain, and it's even spilling over into the U.S. now.

Anyway...almost every day I have been getting an average of 2 extra large english toffee cappuccinos, which are 430 calories each. I have decided that every time I go for a coffee run, I will get myself an apple at the market instead, and limit my coffee to whatever I'm not too lazy to make at home.

This decision will cut 670 calories from my diet EVERY DAY. It's not all I need to do to get where I want to be, but it's a significant change, and I absolutely love apples. Hopefully, I can stick to this plan.

Wow! I had no idea that those cappuccinos had that many calories. I guess I better stay away from those. :o

A real cappuccino might not be as bad ME, these ones are just a powdered concoction that they produce, so it's essentially instant coffee with powdered milk product or some kind of substitute, and sugar. Probably LOTS of sugar, which likely accounts for most of the calories.

Good on you, those treats really do add up, my weakness dark chocolate, just recovered from the holidays.

We are creatures of habit, ok time my 5 mile daily habit.

Rock on.

Good job! It's the little things that will add up and make a difference... Switching to diet soda or water, taking the stairs, parking a little further away then normal, all add up to extra burned calories every day.

Keep up the good work!

wow.....

I'm dieting, too......and just three of those coffees would equal my entire daily caloric intake!

DANG!

Same here o.0 Good lord, I had no idea timmy hos was that bad for you. At any rate, congradulations, seriously, it can be really hard cutting that much sugar and caffeen from your diet. I'm pulling for you, I truely am!

Jamie, I have actually been gradually cutting my caffeine over an extended period. I used to get 4 or 5 coffees a day. I'm at a point now where even when I get them, I don't finish them, so I think I'm doing good. The sugar on the other hand, is going to be hard.

I actually didn't feel like having an apple for my second run today, so I got a bottle of fuze instead. It's only 20 calories and has Chromium added which *supposedly* helps your body metabolize carbohydrates and fats. I suspect it's probably one of those things that we already get enough of in our regular diets anyway and they're just capitalizing on it, like Omega 3, but whatever, it tastes good.

Shilo:

Now, THAT'S a Serious Bomb Beverage if ever there was one, but I'll bet it's SOOO good!

Me? Starbuck's straight-black bold, 20-30 ounces, while walking approximately 5-7 miles in the mall daily. Calories? Hardly any. Caffeine? GOD! And, all of you wonder why I'm so amped! Habit, habit, habit ..., but I LIKE it!!!

Every year, I vow to give it up ... sigh!

Peace :friends: Lacey

Ok...I cheated a little already....this morning I got an apple AND a hot beverage, but instead of an extra large cappuccino it was a medium Tea with milk instead of cream, so the total calories of apple and tea is less than 200, making it less than half that of the cappucino, so I still think I'm doing ok. Also, I haven't started the tea yet, so there's a chance I might not finish it (ya right :P)
