Girl Scout Asks for Boycott of Cookies After Transgender Inclusion

I wondered about that myself Sally. I missed the original video before it went private but from what I've read she said and from lines that were quoted from the original video in video responses it certainly does seem like a lot of research went into what she could say to incite this response from people.

Regardless the original intent of the video a lot of Non Biggots went out of their way to respond and that is a good thing. It makes me a little more hopeful for my safety and future in this world.

Undoubtedly this young person is put up to this, the reality is going to be that without the cookie sale money, her troop's activities are going to cost more for her family, and may result in fellow troop members not being able to continue in the program when their parents cannot afford the extra expenses. Cookie sales primarily support her troop and local council, and not the national council, where the policy to include Trans Kids is made. (They have other funding.) A boycott of the cookies will hurt young girls in very local neighborhoods who first, do not even know about the transgender issues in the news, and secondly, enjoy making the sales as a way to feel good about themselves in public and their communities. Rejection of a 7 or 8 year old by members of the public on a political vendetta the girls that age do not understand is catastrophic to their self image. Definitely this girl and those who put her up to this do not know how the Girl Scout program is funded and why or don't give a sneeze about it.

Over my 10 years as a troop leader, I can count about 3 half ton pickup trucks full of cookies per year that among other things funded troop activities such as two trips to the nationally acclaimed Museum Of Tolerance in West Los Angeles, CA. The girls themselves chose that destination, once as pre teens, and then as Teenagers. Both times were marvelous to watch as attitudes fell, changed and matured in those trips.
