This thread is for everyone.

On my way to work today I heard Bob Dillon's "Lay Lady Lay," and it really stirred something in me; visions of what Dillon had described so vividly, but I was the lady laying across his "big brass bed."

So, um, anyway . It occurred to me that I hadn't seen a thread on this subject, so here it is.

Bob Dylan has a lot of those songs where he conjures up the imagery of a very sensual relationship. Others of his that I like:

"Mozambique"--this one talks about the flirtatious glances people give when they're out of their element and free.

"Girl From the North Country"--the memories of his first real love and the descriptions of her hair falling across her breast; wanting her to be warm in the Minnesota cold shows he still carries her in his heart even though the relationship is over.

"Brownsville Girl"

Van Morrison's "Moondance"

Willie Nelson or Waylon Jennings' versions of "If You Could Touch Her at All"

Willie's "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain"

Waylon's "Rainy Day Woman," "Nashville Wimmin"

Kris Kristofferson's "Help Me Make It Through the Night" and "For The Good Times"

The Pogues "Haunted" and "Rainy Night in Soho"

Ray Charles, Lee Dorsey, Howlin' Wolf, Big Mama Thornton, Janis Joplin, The Band, and the Rolling Stones all have a bunch of great songs that put you there in the moment ... they also have real sensuality in the music itself. No lyrics needed to feel the desire at work in the music.

I agree wholeheartedly about Kristofferson and Nelson. Willie can make almost anything sound sensual. Good choices, Ranse.

Pink Floyd actually has produced some very sensual music, especially the instrumentals on "Shine on You Crazy Diamond". But for me, if you look up the band, Spiritualized and either of the albums, "Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space" or "Let It Come Down", that music will just wash right through you.
