Keeping makeup off your clothes

A couple days ago I pulled a typical dumb guy move while putting on my makeup without even realizing it, as I was blending my foundation I had wiped my fingers on my brand new jeans... now I loathe the guy in me even more. So today I don't put on any outer garments until I've finished and thot I had given it quite a bit of time, but after trying on several blouses I was putting away a light blue pullover and Gah! orange all over the collar... any way to "set" makeup? or avoid this.. or do I just have to learn to be more carefull? I was wearing pressed powder over a liquid foundation and had brushed it in quite well I'd thot

It is one of the hazards of girldom!!

As far as foundation goes, the thinner the coat the better, and no major wardrobe changes for about two hours, by which time it will not smudge as easily. Even with setting powder it needs over an hour to become fully set. You use the foundation to color correct and smoothe out your complexion visually, you do not use it in plaster coats to cover things up. You will still FEEL a bit of beard prickle if you touch the area, but you will have color corrected it to look skin's color and thus most people will not SEE it.

To do a quick change after putting my face on, I use a beautician's comb-out cape to catch the goo before my lace top does. Put the cape on around your neck with the bib in front of you then, as you pull the top over your face area, let the bib of the cape take the make-up hit. Sally Beauty Supply has the capes for about under $10 dollars, and they wash out just fine. Just have a bath towel around your waist or on the bathroom sink and train yourself to use it before you smear your britches.

Take it slow, easy. and think. Since I wear make-up every day it has gotten to be a habit to do it in a certain order, and picking my clothing for the largest part of the day, is the first step for me. I am going to re-do the face paint a little in the evenings or for some special outfit, but now its habit and not a problem. Its a bit of a conundrum, but my make-up supply now lasts about three times longer than it did when I was only doing weekend CDing.

I loved things that pulled over my head and there is no way to keep some makeup off of them if you pull them in after doing makeup as well as running the risk of smudging your careful work.

So I went to Sally's-any beauty supply would work-and got a couple of those capes they use in the beauty shop. Put my top on first, followed by the cape and voila! They are cheap and last forever. I usually put on my pants just before I left the house because I had pets and favored black pants most of the time. Cape is no help there at all :)

Hi Luci,

This is a daily problem for me since I have to change clothes upon arrival at work.

Some tops are too small around the neckline to take off without taking blush off too. To say nothing of ear damage from caught earrings.

I have reconciled to being a lifelong klutz. When the clothes don't work out, go shopping!

Megan, there is a solution! I had forgotten till I read your post but my mother was adamant about perfect makeup and hair but couldn't bear to put on her makeup with her good clothes on so she found these special hood things she always put on to put her clothes on. Worked like a charm

Not my sale or anything but I found one for sale on ebay so you can see them. They have them at beauty supply stores I think. Not sure where she got hers.

From what I have read and heard most people are so.busy with their everyday lives and either looking at their phones or in a hurry to notice you out and about.

This exactly ^^^   I actually really liked games where I was required to play a male character. It felt homey, in a way.

Yes, our little town is having its 3rd annual Pridefest. I've volunteered the first two years  from setup to tear down (though I do take an hour off to eat and drink in the middle).     Then I attend a bigger one a couple towns over that has had some decent entertainment from some semi-famous folks (Laura Benanti, Patrick Wilson, Carmen Carrera, Judy Gold, etc).    This year I made sure to ask off of (weekend) shifts to attend a 3rd one where a group I'm in is in the parade.

Hi Vicky, I agree with you, so far since the time I've been under the new treating doctor's care, she prescribed me medication, but it's for children lol  luckily  my pharmacy warned me from a phone call not to take the medication.

Welcome to the party, M.A.     Sounds chaotic haha, I can confidently say that living with only two children the same age is stressful enough, much less three!

Things hit the fan today. I was reminded that "this is not a gender fluid establishment."   I had changed my preferred name and gender at the hospital on their app. My x-ray report came in with my preferred name and gender. It was not appreciated by the centre. 😬

I'm not a nutritionist but I've gone on bulking diets in the past so I can suggest a couple things to try. Foremost, food-prep stuff that you like to eat. Any 'real food' that usually sounds good to you. That way, you don't have the time-sink or hassle of cooking for every meal. You're more likely to eat if stuff if it's convenient and mostly ready. For example, I'll spend an hour or so one evening prepping burrito ingredients that will last me the next 3 nights. Then it's just a matter of microwaving the beef/beans and throwing them into a tortilla; takes 5 min.   If you need food 'on the go' often, consider prepping smoothies in advance pre-separated out into individual containers. I personally like low-no fat yogurt blended with fruit and, here's the weird part, those water flavor drops. They add sweetness without dumping in excess sugar. Insulated containers will keep them reasonably fresh non-refridgerated all day so they can even be tossed into a backpack.    Hope of those sparked some ideas!

I did get a sorry from the mechanic, saying it was all on him. The boss just said I just went by what I was shown. I didn't look at the paper work. I thought maybe you should before jumping down someones throat.   I am still in the market. Just waiting to find the right one.   Hugs, Kymmie
