Discrimination Against Decaf

I have to share a conversation I had with my husband this morning.

First a bit of background - When we stopped at his office, he put his travel mug on the trunk as he usually does, then we lit our cigarettes. The wind tipped over the mug and some coffee spilled down the back of the car. He picked it up and held it while helping me clean up.

Then we began to talk about coffee. I don't remember exactly what we said, but I can give you the basic idea.

Hubby: I can't let that happen again. That's coffee abuse.

Me: There ought to be a law.

Hubby: That's right, we need a law against coffee abuse. Don't spill coffee.

Me: Don't pour it down the drain, either, even decaf.

Hubby: You can dump the decaf.

Me: That's caffeinism. You're a caffist!

Hubby: I belong to the school of Kafka-ism (German existentialist author).

Me: So do I, mein Liebchen (little love), but that's just me. I'll still defend the rights of decaf. I'll even stand up for multi-sensory beverages.

Hubby: You can keep your lattes and your radical ideas.

Me: Look, if you can scrape it from the bottom of the pot, I'll take it straight. I don't go that way, alright? I still support their rights to be enjoyed.

Personal note: I apologize to all tea drinkers and imbibers of alternative beverages. I didn't mean to exclude you. I will stand beside you as well. Together we can fight against all caffeine content discrimination.

Sometimes I just can't help myself. :-D
