Disporportionate size help question..

I was hoping I might could get some advise... I've had my head out of the world of fashion for a long time... I took my measurements earlier today, and while I know my base sizes I would need for women's clothing I'm just a bit discouraged.. My natural measurements came up to 48-33-38 with a height of 6ft.. That would put me somewhere around a 12-14 skirt, and a 22-24w blouse, but then with any padding up top it would toss me up to a 24-26w.. Any ideas how I might be able to give an illusion of slimmer shoulders and chest? Been browsing several online clothing retailers, and am a loss of what might be best.

Thanks in advance

Becca

My shoulders were always large out of proportion to my body and I found that wearing separates with lose flowing tops was most flattering. Especially when I got to a larger size. Ebay is a great resource for those kind of tops. I liked the batik ones and got compliments all the time.

You want to emphasize and draw attention to those legs. They will make you look thinner and more in proportion. Details on your pants and showy shoes will help with that.

Basically what you want to do is not draw attention to the middle part of your body from your neck to your legs. Sometimes a long dramatic necklace will actually really help because the eye is drawn there and not to the shoulders which sounds counter to what I just said but really isn't because it gives a single focal point instead of the mid body being the focal point. Dramatic earrings and wearing makeup really help too.

. I'd also say never wear a belt or things that show a waist because that will emphasize the proportions of your body and make your shoulders look broader in comparison.

Hope this helps some-I'd be nice to have someone get some use from all those hard learned lessons that are useless to me now :D

That actually does help, while I've been kidded for awhile that I have skinny legs (proportionately speaking for a guy) they are quite long and shapely and well defined. That was my favorite part of me when in heels. I was looking at a darker style billowy blouse with a knee length skirt. If I remember right the darker type clothing has a slimming effect.. Geez its been along time..

Thanks for your advise Johny

Becca every woman I ever knew longed for long slim legs. Flaunt them. Long stretchy pants can be oh so feminine and sexy too. Many women are fated to envy you those legs!

Shoulders are fairly easy to hide compared to short legs. No one is even going to notice I suspect because they will be lusting after your legs

I have some tops that fit well in the shoulders but look baggy around the waist. for these i either turn them in to the skirt or slacks or wear a wide belt around them. this accentuates the waist and causes the top to flare out a bit accentuating/faking the hips

[This suddenly indented - I have no idea why and I cannot fix it]

You and I have similar shapes. I wear skirts - almost always skirts - to just below the knee. Flares skirts suggest a wider hip and narrower waist. I wear tailored shirts. Vee neck lines work well with us tall girls. Also NEVER wear your shirt tails in.

I love my heels but at 6'2" I have learned they cause too much attention to a woman at 6'5' or mire - so - sigh - I wear flats. Avoid white shoes as they make your feet look big.

And we can wear clunky jewelry.

I wear my hair extremely long, and loose, It hides my large-for-a-woman neckline.

I avoid the large prints women's blouses and dresses. Subtle patterns are better, But mostly I wear solid colors, and depend on the texture of the cloth to make it elegant.

And painted fingernails and toenails seem to accentuate my femininity. Also a long strap shoulder purse. And pretty scrunchies and flowers in my hair.

I hope this helps.a bit.

There are places online that allow you to upload your image and try on their clothing on your own pic. It is a great way to see how something might make you look. You don't have to buy their stuff of course, just get and idea of styles.

this one even allows you to try on different wigs which might be cool for some people.

Have fun! At your age fashion is wide open for you

Go to ukhairdressers add wardrobe2/index.asp

You need to turn that back into a URL -I can't link because the avatar shown has on underwear but thought this site was worth trying for you.

Good luck and Enjoy!

Thank you for the advise Gwendolyn and Lizzy I appreciate it. I've never ever tried slacks or even leggins. I've always been drawn to skirts, modestly about knee length normally. My knees are cute knobby, not OMG knobby so I don't mind showing them off some.. Lizzy I guess I will have to draw attention to myself, I love wearing heels too much.. Not skyscrapers or anything, but a nice 3in heel. Helps to make my feet not look quite as long..

Johnny that site is pretty neat, spent a while looking around. I've been online shopping for about a month. Sad thing is I know is I'll just be guessing at sizes, I just need to go to the store and try something on...OMG this is great...

I'm so sorry my mind just went off on this tangent and I have to share..This is too funny... While I was typing this out I was trying to psyche myself up some to get the courage to actually go to a store to try stuff on. I found a list online of some that are TG friendly... So I am sitting here thinking C'mon Becca you have to do this, C'mon ... and finally it crossed my mind to go C'mon Becca grow a pair.... I literally froze, wrinkled up my face and said out loud GROW A PAIR??? Dangit I don't want the pair I have now!!! Then burst out laughing... And now I can't remember what else I was going to say....

Sorry Y'all I crack myself up sometimes.. Ok quite a lot actually but still..

Thanks again for the advise..I appreciate it, and you all, very much.

Happiness to me is when I reached a turning point in my life, that I stop worrying what others think about me, and start living my life.

Good afternoon everyone,   I often wondered why @April Marie and @Willowgot up so early in spite of being retired. Now that I have my own puppy as a house pet I get it. We haven't had dogs since before my oldest granddaughter was born 22 years ago this September. I've always had working hunting dogs, and it was important they became acclimated to the current weather conditions. While the kennels had large outdoor runways, they also had pet passes into the somewhat temperature controlled garage. Yes, they were allowed in the house but only for short periods of time. Fast forward to present time, and I'm potty training a puppy as well as crate training. The first night Parker Von Schwinegruber, slept from 10:30 until 05:30. Last night we went to bed and 10:30 and he started making noise at 05:00. Since I don't want to test his ability to hold his business, we got up and went outside. He took care of business and we went back to sleep. This time he had a dental chew bar and I filled his water bowl. We cat napped until 08:00 and then got up for the day taking him immediately outside. He took care of business, and we played fetch and tug of war with his now favorite puffball. We came in and I put him back in the crate positioned so he could see me cook breakfast. Did he NO HE WENT TO SLEEP! We ate breakfast, did the dishes, and finished off the pot of coffee I brewed at 08:00. Once he woke up we stared at one another for about 20 minutes, because he seemed content to be in the crate. I got up and we worked on some obedience training as well as getting into and out of the crate with permission. We don't want him to crash the gate or any doors we will be going through.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I have not heard about it here in California, but then again we have events of various sorts going on very often, and not just in the June Pride Month.  We have Trans Fashion Week going on at a hotel complex over in West Los Angeles for the next three nights featuring shows by Trans fashion designers and modeled by Trans and NB people on the runways there.  I missed a chance for some free tickets and while I know and love many of the participants I do not want to pay for the tickets which will be in the $50 to $75 range, and which at those prices are nearly sold out.  (Not to mention $25 valet parking each night at the venue complex.).  There will be actual high end fashion buyers there though and it is an area where we are gaining some good footing.  I also admit that NONE of the fashions are going to be anything at all that would fit my basic personal style but look fine if not crazy on my much younger Trans siblings who will model them. (Ok everyone else keep on @Mirrabooka's topic.)

Welcome to TransPulseForums @gizgizgizzie    I hope you find this place as helpful as I do. I’m also in a slow transition living in the androgynous world. I’m out to my grown children and my extended family with mixed support from them. Some have cut me out of their lives and others want me to be their flamboyant family member.    Best wishes, stay positive and motivated    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Accidents happen.  So do heat-of-the-moment murders, without premeditation or trans-related hate.  It will take a trial to really figure it out.     One thing we can see from this is that it is people in our circles of acquaintances, friends, and partners who are the ones who usually hurt us.  Not someone random. We have to be careful who we trust.

Friday May 17th is IDAHOBIT (International Day Against HOmophobia, BIphobia and Transphobia).   Do you acknowledge or celebrate it? Do you do anything special for it, like taking part in any organized events or activities?   I'm not an activist and I prefer to fly under the radar, but I am slowly becoming aware of important dates. I have been aware of the date of IDAHOBIT for a few weeks now, but other important 'rainbow' dates have not been etched into my brain yet.    I will wear my favorite pride t-shirt as a token acknowledgement of the day, but it probably won't be seen; cool weather here will mean that it will be hidden under a sweater.

Happiness for me comes from being cognizant of the things that make me feel good.   Sunshine.   Pandering to my inner woman.   Knowing that some people in my life really 'know' me.   Vacations, and Eggs Benedict at an alfresco cafe.   My wife and I being telepathic.   Grandchildren.   Music.   Wine!
    • Ivy
True.  Every trans death is not a hate crime. There is so much hate expressed by some people, that we kinda get to expect it.
