Has anybody seen 'A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story'?

It's a Lifetime movie from 2006, and I remember watching it a while back and crying throughout the whole thing. It was so sad, and I just want to know if anyone else has seen it? It's such a well-done movie. I just love it so much.

It is a great movie. I love it dearly. You can find it on youtube for free and it's also available on DVD I hear at the lifetime website.

I have also had the pleasure of hearing Gwen's mother speak at a college in a city near where I live. She is a wonderful woman and an incredibly gifted and powerful public speaker. It's just extremely unfortunate something like this had to happen to Gwen for our community to gain such a powerful advocate and ally.

I loved this movie. I cried and cried, but it is a very powerful movie and one that sadly happens out there far too often. There really should be NO one on the TDOR list, yet there are.

Yes have seen it and own it as well. While it is a heartbreaking story there is one part that realy touched me. That is when the biker guy asks to lead the funeral percestion.

Ironically that this was brought up today. I just watched "Trained in the Ways of Men". It's a documentary about Gwen and actual footage of the murder trial. It's on instant streaming on Netflix right now.

I'm going to this movie too. All of this is so unnecessary and sad. Many lives were ruined.

I just watched it and I was impressed. it turned out to be more than I thought it would based on the description and my knowledge of the events. It was equally thought provoking on many levels as it was emotion provoking.

I remember watching this with my mom and my grandma when I was first transitioning and how alarming it was to them that these things happened within the community. It was eerily educating for them and I think Mercedes Ruehl did a phenomenal job as Gwen's mom, she added an earthy quality that really resonated.

I also remember how creepy the scene was where she's running in the woods in slow motion...I hated watching that part

Seen it on utube would like to find a copy. very touching movie, the scene with the bikers was amazing blocking the haters away from her family i think these are the same guys who block at funurals of soldiers to. would be a good movie to show in high schools

Just like Aly, quoted above, I finally actually watch this movie 2 days ago and even posted the movie on another thread on here too for anybody who wants to watch that movie right on here. I had to stop watching it right after Gwen helps out the biker dude in the convenience store by not finking on him and when she goes to the rough party thereafter. I knew what was coming. I CANNOT watch it!

Hey, I'm half-again the age of Aly's parents, so this movie has cross-generational appeal with its timeless message.

Because of the dullness and meanness of so many people in society worldwide, I will always feel like an alien, and I'm sure many of you will (and do) too.

I found too found the funeral escort by the bikers very touching indeed.
