A question about potential breast development

As they say, I guess the rule of thumb for your potential breast development is one cup size smaller than the women in your immediate family. However this doesn't specify if that's before or after having children. Both my mom and my sister are a little busty but they both have children so I assume their chest is bigger now than before they were pregnant. I also looked online and I guess breast development varies where the mom and an older daughter may have a large chest but the younger daughter does not.

So does the general rule still apply or is this also a case of YMMV?

Hey I can give some input on this . Before pregnancy you have normal boobies when you fall pregnant thy grow as the baby develops and after the baby is born my goddess thy are the biggest u will ever see them unbelievable . Then booooooooooo thy shrink sometimes smaller than ur original size before pregnancy . Have to share a funny story . Here in Australia after a women has given birth to help with the massive build up of nutrition for the baby thy encourage you to put cold garbage leaves to bring them down . I nearly laughed but bearing the pain of feeling like thy were going to explode I gave it a go .thy worked :) Hehehehehe my room smelt like spring rolls :o its like I had my own Chinese restaurant in there . My partner would come to visit us and I would do my hair and clean myself up to look all pretty forgetting every time that I smelt like a fresh cooked spring roll ;/ and as for genetics my two girls are bigger than me :/

I have wondered the same. I have read in several places that you can expect slightly smaller than your closest female relatives. But i don't know how to calculate. My moms are small - A+ cup, my oldest sister's are very small - A- cup, but my youngest sister (a few years older than me) has big boobs - C or C+ cup. So how do I know where I will land? If I land in the middle, I will be quite happy! Mine are already about the same size as my oldest sister's lol.

I think the amount of growth my also be affected by the age at which you start HRT, but I may be wrong about that.

Grow baby grow!

Oh god!!! One cup smaller than my mom would give me D's if I ever started Hrt...

Guess I would never hit my nose if I ever run into a door lol

Well before I was pregnant, I was in a barely C. When pregnant I was full overflowing C. Then after 3 girls in 4 years I am barely B now. With the super wonder bras I can pull off a C. LOL

I know of no real basis for the general rule. It has been around a long time and I know no scientific analysis on such. Basically I think the point of the rule is to say genetics has an effect but don't expect to get as much as others in your family.

Not many MTF will get up to D cup without surgical assistance.

One problem with cup size on MTF is that MTF torso tend to be much larger which pushes up the band size. Even if development has enough volume for a D cup on a smaller frame, on the larger chest it will come out a B. Sizing a bra can be tricky for MTF as larger band sizes tend to come with larger cup sizes. It is easy enough to find a 38B or 38C, but try finding a 40B and pickings get much slimmer. Get to a 42B or 44B and it is even more difficult.

I think that is just a myth - mainly to say that your family genetics plays a part. It does I think. Because of the larger frame we tend to have - like Drea said, you will need a bigger breast size to obtain the cup sizes as listed in the standards. In other words, a 34 band with a D cup might be just a B cup if the band size is 42.

And I am already much larger than my mother...But my grandmothers were both buxom.

Also, it takes about two years to get results, at least 3 or 4 to get the filling in all around, and a minimum of six years to reach full potential. Your breasts also tend to reflect significant weight gain or loss. Think of it this way - how do a young girl's breasts develop?

Ok guess I will add my two cents to this as well. I was told at my age (38 when started hrt) not to expect much at all. Had also herd of the one size smaller then female relitivesbut also herd it was mainly for younger trans woman( late teens-early twentys). Well I guess was geneticaly gifted cause as am now larger then my sisters they are both B's. But smaller then my mom( mom is endowed 38 DD ). Depending on band size and maker I range froma 38 D to a 42 C cup. Most 42 bands just do not feel right on me at all. My best fitting bra is a 38 D it fits well is filled completely out and I barely ever notice it is on. Before hrt i was flat as a board in the chest department. Every time I think they are done growing they deside to grow some more. Have been on hrt for over 3 1/2 years now and still getting results. As is so well said here your milage may vary.

Megan - I am totally jealous (although I have only been on HRT for 2 months). If I become as blessed as you I would have the biggest boobs in the family (mom and 2 sisters). Both of my sisters said they will be peed if I end up with bigger boobs than them lol. I guess I should be happy that after only two months I can fill a 36 A. Perhaps it is a sign of good things to come. And it means that mine are already the same size as my oldest sister's ;-) but she doesn't get to be mad when I "out grow" her, she's getting hers "upgraded" in the fall. So if I pass her before then, I won't be bigger than her for long.

Happy growing ladies! lol

Well - I wear a 40 bandwidth C cup. I use an extender and I use an add on horizontal strap that keeps it on my shoulders. 40 C did not fit when I first bought it but it does now. My band size actually 'measures' 41" - but there is no such thing.

Not all bras fit the same. When you find one - make sure to get at least three or four, in the event they get discontinued! It's not a real problem - two whites, a black and a beige, for example are needed (I am full time).

I also complicate it as I hate underwire and I dislike those over-padded ones.

But - I LOVE being female at last! grin - so it's just part of what we have to do!

Bathroom usage law based on chromosomes is quite irrational. Just within the intersex community there are quite a few problems with it with those that have full or partial androgen insensitivity. For instance, I have XY chromosomes but also have a uterus and fallopian tubes. My breasts are real and I have had them since puberty. I was also born without a penis to speak of, but I do have testes.    I don't look like the average guy, and much less now that I don't hide my DDD's behind baggy layered clothes.    Physically I am much more female than male, but my birth certificate and chromosomes say something else.    I most definitely don't fit in the men's room. Last time I tried everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at me until I left. I have used the family restroom in public ever since (all gender). The Texas law basically leaves only one choice for intersex individuals. Family restroom or pee your pants. 🙄

I had a similar experience.  My father, doing geneological research, googled the name of the tiny hamlet in Scotland where his family came from.  He was surprised to find a request from someone in Australia wanting to find his birth mother.  The mother was named as my father's sister, from that same tiny hamlet.  There was no possibility of mistaken identity: there could not be two people of that name in such a small place.   The family knew that my aunt had had a child out of wedlock, but no one had kept track of the child.  And of course, the times being what they were, knowledge of the event was kept on a need-to-know basis.    My father contacted the person in Australia.  He gained a nephew and I gained a cousin that I never knew I had.  We kept in touch until my cousin passed away a few years ago.  I am still in occasional contact with his widow.

I can relate to that, I started my oral estrogen back in 2017.. less than 6 months I was wearing jeans size 40, then afterward my hips started to curve so I can fit a jeans size 12 or 14.. my treating doctors suggested for me to take before and after pictures and show it to them during my next doctor's appointment.

Good morning from the backyard patio,   Parker and I are outside enjoying the morning sounds of the day. It’s was filled with the beautiful sounds of birds, bugs and kids off at a distant playground. My coffee was hot, strong and black. This came crashing down as the Monday morning trash truck came into the neighborhood. We’re the first neighborhood for the trash route since a city ordinance keeps all commercial workers limited to a 07:00 start time. It was Parker’s first time experiencing this noise and physical vibrations as the operator slammed the articulated arm around picking up individual trash bins. Parker ran from the fence back to the patio swing looking back at the monstrous truck causing such a commotion. His head tilted, ears perked, and body language indicating curiosity.    My second cup of coffee is settling down as the birds return to singing their calls, and Parker ravages his toy rabbit.    Hugs and best wishes as you take on the week. Happy Monday!   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Good morning @Adrianna Danielle   I’m glad you agreed to the paternity test.    My Uncle found himself in a similar situation and after the test he was faced with explaining his infidelity and one night stand to his wife and family. Not only did the test come back; “YOU ARE THE FATHER” she looked like a sister to the other children in his family. This was a “23 & Me” moment confirmed by an independent test. The most important reason for the young lady to search for her father, was medical history and peace of mind. The blessing of the test was her understanding and willingness to disappear into obscurity. That was not what my Uncle or his family wanted to happen. She was family and they wanted to know her and eventually love her as a family member. The next 4th of July family gathering, she was introduced to the rest of her extended family and I gained a cousin. My prayers for you as you navigate all the possibilities, and I hope it works out for everyone involved.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Well I’m short on time again!   I had to move to the couch around 3:15 this morning. Unfortunately my wife’s med vac was making a lot of noise which woke me up and I couldn’t sleep. Then I over slept because my alarm wasn’t set correctly, my fault.    @Mirrabooka Hobart is a beautiful city and Tasmania is a wonderful place to visit. I was there several times in the 80s.    @Birdie Texas isn’t the only state with such laws.  Don’t try going to a public bathroom in Florida either. Now there laws aren’t based on chromosomes or anything like that but it’s a birth certificate as far as I know.  That Texas law is a tough one, really anti transgender in all respects. Except!  What if you have an extra chromosome?  Or DNA that’s flipped?  Did they think of that situation?  Medical theory suggests that is the case when it come to Transgender people, but especially the young ones.  Also, IQ, that tends to be higher than average.  There are a lot of things about us the medical science is studying, not just psychology.   got to go   Willow
