Does starting HRT affect over sweating?

oh, it's definitely sold in the u.s., I just don't remember under what name. I've looked it up before because I was looking for one that was recommended to me.

Umm.. hello all.. it's been a while since i was active on the site.. but there has been alot going on in my life. and as things have been going on it's made me ponder a couple things.

*rubs her head a bit and takes a deep breath*

now.. this is a bit embarrassing to admit but i have an issue with excessive sweating.. i mean.. i can be sitting in a room that's 70 degrees and i'll start sweating at times.. i currently have to wear darker colors to try and hide the sweat marks on my shirts.. (learned this the hard way....) and i was wondering if when i finally get to start HRT if that will help any with the sweating, or if it will make it worse? i'd really not have to stick to darker colors all my life... *sighs a bit*

any info would be GREATLY appreciated...

Well, I have found that after 3 years on HRT, I feel colder most o9f the time.....I can more easily handle heat.....

I work out in a gym and I still sweat as much, but the plus side is that the "male" smell is gone.....

Women's scent is less offensive than a man's when sweating....just the way it is....Testosterone makes males smell different

But, sweat less?

Not me...

I sweat less, but I can't say if that will be true for everyone. I have some advice though. There's an antiperspirant you can buy that's miles better than any speed stick or any other. The one I used was called Certain-Dri, but I'm not sure if that's a name specific to canada. Check with your pharmacist and ask for a product with a MINIMUM of 12% Aluminum Chloride. Not only will it be 10 times as effective as a regular anti-perspirant immediately, it also will actually shrink your sweat glands permanently with prolonged use. It's not all that expensive either. Certain-Dri was a roll-on at about 9.00 cdn a bottle. Well worth it. And it's unscented, which I thought was a bonus.

Trust me, it WORKS.

Hi Anira,

I'm just like Dee Jay, I find I feel cold a lot more than I used to. I've never had much perspiration, so I can't say if there is any connection with hormones. I'm not perspiring any more now than I ever did though so I guess it doesn't make it worse.

I appreciate it DJ. i was more talking about just like sitting around the house or driving in the car, and stuff like that. but i am glad to hear that it made heat more tollerable. cause to me.. anything above 75 is HOT... and there is no A/C in my appartment.. so summmers are always hot to me.. yet my housemates seem to think anything below 75 is cold...

I will DEFINATELY look into this one. from the brief glimpse i had at the "where to buy" list it looks like it might be sold in the US.

i hope it makes it so heat is easier to tolerate hopefully it will make it less likely that i'll be sweating

Weird....I just posted the last reply like 5 hours ago and it's saying I replied 2 days ago. Oooh! Maybe I discovered time travel and didn't realize it!!!! Fun ^_^

I'm pretty sure I've seen TV ads for Certain-Dri in the USA. So I think it's the same name as in Canada. Also, I have a female friend who actually has to get a prescription anti-perspirant due to excessive sweating - so you might want to ask your Dr about it the next time you're there. As for the HRT making a difference, I can tell you that my S/O has been on it for 5 months now and there is basically NO smell of sweat anymore. I'm not sure whether there is less sweat or if it just smells better.

Going the opposite direction I find I sweat a lot more but actually tolerate temperatures and temperature differences much better. However the weight loss I have had may have made me more heat tolerant and it may be that T has mainly affected my cold tolerance. I'm not sure really but I know I am much more comfortable with the temp all the time than I ever was before no matter what size I was or shape I was in. It feels like T has decreased my sensitivity to ambient temperature so conversely E or the decrease in T could be expected to have the opposite effect

In my experience I find that my skin isn't oily like it was without hrt. It's cool and I like it as I only wash my hair twice a week instead of everyday. As far as perspiring goes I'm cooler than I used to be, unless I have a hot flash. Then I usually run outside until the hot flash subsides.

Honey,

I don't sweat at all anymore, but do perspire on occasion... I have really appreciated the effects of HRT on skin and the lack of perspiration has been just one of them.

I know what you mean! I can't believe I only just noticed this, but yesterday as I was looking in the mirror, I noticed that my pores on my face, particularly my nose and forehead, actually appear smaller, and look clearer. Big grin when I saw that, as it's always been something I was self conscious of.

You're all making me think that I need a little estrogen boost myself! I mean, if it does such wonders for the trans world, doesn't that mean it should help the rest of us, too? ;) (kidding, of course... sort of!)

Shilo - oh, so cool that there's someone on this forum in Hfx! I LOVE Halifax. Would be funny if we'd actually met or known one another back when I lived there - you just never know who you will run into onine these days! (But even if we did, no worries - I wouldn't tell anyone about seeing anyone here).

I was a human furnace on Testosterone and could soak my clothes through in a half hour of mowing. On estrogen, I'm much cooler and don't perspire anywhere even close to what I used to. I had to break my habit of showering and washing my hair everyday as my hair blew every which way as the shampoo took what little oil out of my hair and it went everywhere. On testosterone, I had to wash my hair every day or it looked plastered down. They kicked the AC on in our office this week. Used to be if I felt a little chilly, other people were in deep hyperthermia. Not anymore. I'm wearing a sweater today. Katheryn

I'm a masculine woman. It's not about masculinity though. It's about expanding what it means to be a woman.

It never rains but it pours.  We had a dry spring, but now my garden is a swamp and my yard is a pond.  Get off the gravel road, and you'd need a hovercraft.    With nothing better to do, I'm going on a short trip with my husband tomorrow.  Since he's in management he usually doesn't do this sort of work, but whenever he does I usually go along.  And he already knows not to try staying in a hotel, because I want to sleep in the bunk in the truck.  So much more cozy.    And for a couple of days, GF can actually take care of her own kids instead of leaving them to me....

I have played clarinet, but without talent.  And while I *can* sing, I think listening to it would be an acquired taste.

Hi Sally, okay I'll head on over to your post and check out your makeup techniques.

Hey all,   It's been a while, but I blogged a whole series on makeup.  It's an eight-part series where I talk about my techniques.   Here is the link to Part 1:       Hopefully the blog series is helpful.

Oh, I can relate to that one Vicky, leaving lipstick in hot weather  I've lost count how many times I had to purchase new purses.

Thanks for the replies, as an admin from my own group I understand the same rules, agreed.

I do spoken word acting, and give Trans 101 talks and other public speaking.  I wear make-up for those occasions.  Sephora is easy for me to get to, and has a foundation that does a good job for me and the sales folks there are Trans Friendly.  Their eye shadow pallets are also fun to use. Another source of my foundation is Ulta which carries Dermablend that does a consistent job of my lower face and chin.   I just use good old Revlon lipsticks because I ruin them by leaving my purse in the hot car too often.

I'm not interested in makeup, jewelry or nice clothes or girly stuff.  It's made me wonder at times.   It saves some money.  If I wore a skirt it would likely  be denim.  I thought about a woman's skirt suit but nah.   Neither of my sisters are into that stuff either.  One likes peasant chic (still a 60s flower girl)  and the other - the only time she has ever worn a dress was at her wedding.  Jeans at all other times.   Jeans and t shirt here.  Content being a girl.  Weirdo. Weirda? Never mind.

@Ladypcnj Before posting links to other group's websites, PM one of the Staff (preferably an Admin) and have them check that site out.   We have specific rules here regarding age appropriateness and would need to know that the other site is in line with those rules.  We do have members here between 13 and 18 and other sites need to be safe for that age range, legally and otherwise.  Also, we are not a dating or pick-up site, not do we allow people selling things to advertise here.  As I said clear the link with a moderator or admin before posting it.  Mod's and admins do check out posts and if we find problem links we will remove them and notify the OP of a rules violation.  Go to https://www.transgenderpulse.com/community-rules to understand where we are.

I raise my hand in the group, I have a question and a suggestion... is it allowed to share other new lgbtq+ website links here?
    • Ladypcnj
Yeah, ELF is a good brand, another brand is Revlon ColorStay last 24 hours.
