Hi Ladies, I have a short lace skirt and would like to know what type of top would go the best with it. The skirt is black.

Any ideas on color would also help.

Well, black is easy - you can wear ANY color with black. So I would say choose a color that looks good with your skin tone and hair, and that makes you feel good.

I'd suggest a long, loosed sleeve blouse in a red or icy blue, or a deep yellow or purple. Depending on what season you are.

Can a guy chime in here? Coming from being an artist presentation was always important to me regardless of mode. can't say about current trends on the blouse style but with something as textured as lace essentially is I would recommend a plain blouse with maybe a lace accent at most. Otherwise it may get busy looking.

And black goes with everything but our skin tones don't so your best bet is a color that looks good with your skin tonne and hair color. You want to present a total picture. some colors, specifically greens and yellows turn me green for instance and I avoid them even in guy mode because I hate it when people keep asking if I'm sick.. Purples do the same only I look more like a corpse. The colors you choose can made a real difference in how you look and feel

Do a Google image search of the black lace skirt an see what tops go great with the skirt. I have a black beaded graphic top that goes great with my jean skirts an jeans.

As maria said, there are 4 seasons - everyone is 1 of the 4 depending on skin tone, hair and eye color. If you told us what color your eyes and hair and skin are, we could give more specific suggestions. And Johnny is right about textures - you don't want to mix lace with more lace unless it's a really fancy event maybe. And of course weather plays into it - you are in the States, so it is spring... which means you don't want material that's too thick or heavy.

Except another black sometimes - they have to be very close in tone and reflectivity - grin. Same with white on white - I think white is the most variable 'color' there is - only black is almost as varied.
