Maintaining Your Voice All Day?

I've yet to find myfemale voice, but I was wondering if it's difficult to maintain a good female speaking voice for a whole day. Anyone have experience doing so?

I can't speak from experience yet, but my understanding is that once you train the various muscles and such to do what they need to do, it eventually becomes your "natural" speaking voice. Just takes lots and lots of practice.

It takes lots of practice and dedication, but many have good female voices, It takes time, in the beginning you will only be able to speak in a higher pitch for 20 seconds or so before you start to strain the vocal cords, have some cold water to drink, working a little each day the time will increase, eventually you will be able to speak for longer periods, to speak for a whole day without straining your vocal cords takes time and lots of practice, some people get it in a month or so, others it can take a year or more, voice is one of those things you can never start to early on.

I started by counting from 1 until i could feel the strain in my voice box, i then stopped, i practiced each day this until i could count to 100, i did this for the alphabet also, some people listen to audio books with women speakers, then try to imitate how they spoke, some people sing along to women singers on the radio, there are some voice lessons on the internet, there are various instructional cd's available for purchase, if you read through this forum you will find links to a number of those web sites.

It's definitely doable. I've been doing it for more than a decade. Practice practice practice.

It's taken me about 3-4 months, and I am to the point where I can go out into public and maintain it. I lost it today though when after washing my car, a landscaper guy came by where I parked and blew dirt all over it. Angry guy voice came out of nowhere, even scared me. Guess I need to practice for those unexpected moments too.

Those can be tricky because you're caught off guard so therefore you're not thinking "female voice!"

It will come with time. The more you stay in your voice throughout various situations and circumstances the more likely you'll just become used to it and it will become your normal speaking voice and then those unexpected moments won't be so bad.

I've heard KarenLyn - her voice is a perfect female voice. Practice does make perfect.

For me, voice has been the most difficult aspect to transition. It was failing some years back and took medical work as well as a lifestyle change to bring it back. But, it's easy for my voice to become raspy towards the end of a day, and I drop out of voice all to frequently just from being tired.

It is something that takes practice, and perhaps that's my downfall, working in a job that requires little speaking and living a quiet life in general. I vow not to give up on it - it's worth working on still...

Well the profession I aim for does require quite a bit of speaking. So luckly with a ton of practice I'll maintain my voice for whole days, but for now I just need to practice!

Thank you Megan! That's so nice of you to say. I was impressed by your voice too. It was the end of the day and I didn't hear anything but a normal female voice.

I'm looking forward to another get together. I'm just going to have to clear some space in my schedule.
