Will there be any complications? If you lost the ability to stay construct will it stay that way? Of you achieved a feminine body will the form go back to the way it was?

Well have you seen a woman going through menopause? Same thing. If you stop taking testostorone blockers fat will redistrobute.

Cold turkey is NOT a recommended way to quit hormones. They should be tapered off under a doctor's care. The chance of a DVT or other damage goes up with drastic fluctuations in the hormone levels, having hot flashes is very rough when it is a major loss of hormone.

yup. i did Lupron (horomone blocker) and BAM! major hot flashes for months. and months and months. I have utmost respect for menopausal ladies now.

Hot flashes that makes everything drenched in sweat, changing sheets in the middle of the night, washing blankets and covers and pillows, constantly oily hair. Yeah, don't do cold turkey. If you're under medical supervision and want to stop, talk to your doctors about it, they'll have the best idea for you.

And some things don't change. If you've experienced brest development, a major portion of that is there to stay. If you were on hrt long enough to sterilize yourself that may be permanent .

LOL, that one is apparently in the automatic word filter. I know what you're trying to say, if that helps :P

I strongly suspect that if I stopped taking hormones the world would end.

From a medical standpoint I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your question. You can certainly regain lost libido, but I don't know if you would be able to get a "construction" *chuckles*.

Most SRS surgeons have you stop taking hormones 2-3 weeks before surgery and as far as I know, it's "cold turkey", I was never advised otherwise. I've stopped hormones twice in my life without tapering off with no ill effects. I've been on them for years now and no hot flashes so far nor mood swings. But everyone is different and when it comes to medications, the best thing is to ask your doctor. I do know that you don't need to taper off from all medications though and it's not like you're body is going to instantly revert to its pre-hormone levels anyway, it takes time both ways - to see the effects of estrogen and blockers and to see your body re-masculinize.

And of course, there's always the CHANCE that certain things are irreversible: sterility, if blockers have made you sterile, breast tissue if you've started to grow that, and impotence, if blockers have made you impotent. On the last subject, again I want to emphasize that everyone is different. I've been on estrogen and an anti-androgen for years with no impairment of sexual function. My hormone levels are the same as a genetic female's and all I've noticed in that department is there is less of an "edge", meaning that thinking about sex takes up less space in my brain, however when I'm in the mood, things work fine.

Despite what some might have you believe, taking hormones and stopping hormones are both relatively safe for most people when under the supervision of a doctor. As with anything of this nature, it is somewhat dependent on your health to begin with: do you smoke, exercise, do drugs? are you older, overweight? do you have clotting or liver problems?

Even if some of this stuff is true for you, you can make lifestyle changes and/or take different hormone medications and/or different routes of administration: oral, sublingual, transdermal, and injectable. Injectables for example bypass the liver.

Anyway, this is just my perspective. Keep asking around, talk to a doctor or two, do some research online. I'm sure you can find a method that is safe and effective for you.

Many health issues are a result of constant body chemistry fluctuations over a long period of time, many years of unstable hormones, body PH and other necessary chemicals. The human body is quite resilient to changes in the short term. Talk with your doctor so they can assist you.

Some certain functions did return, yes, and I think in comparison to pics back in '07 I think I had some breast tissue decrease. Either that or I had some really good push up bras back then.

Welcome @AmandaJoy, It’s a pleasure to have you join us here on the forum. It does seem much easier to suppress this understanding of ourselves until one day, it’s not. It all suddenly hits you like a ton of bricks. Those puzzle pieces all suddenly seem to fit and there’s no going back. Like you, I waited until I felt there was no other choice. It was now or never! Never having the opportunity to be myself in this world was not going to be an option.   Words of wisdom there. Many of us try to make up for lost time or try to get results faster than a cis puberty but it just doesn’t work that way as you’ve learned. It’s difficult waiting for the changes but the good news…eventually you’ll experience many of them and the joys that come with those changes are wonderful and exciting. But like most good things, they take time. And sometimes it’s helpful things don’t happen overnight. Especially if you have others that need time to adjust to your physical and emotional changes.   I wish you the best on your continuing journey wherever that may lead you. I think you’ll enjoy this forum as there are great resources, advice, and people here that make it what it is. Hope to see you around.   Warmest Regards, Susan R🌷

I enjoyed my Saturday moka-pot coffee this morning while doing something I love: processing astronomy images.  I didn't stay up late to watch last night's spectacular aurora, but my all-sky camera did, taking pictures every minute.

Good morning.    I did not try to see the sky last night.  We watched tv and went to bed.  Cooler but dry this weekend it was 58 when I got up this morning.  Sorry Kymmie, no chance of white rain here. Although there is always a chance of hail.  Fortunately, the storms stayed west of us and dropped their golf all size hail elsewhere.  I do feel bad for the people that got the hail as that was in a poorer part of the state.   Even the county we live in is quite large and has socioeconomic issues that range from wealth to below poverty.  Very few good middle class jobs and a number of them are closing their doors every year.  Most workers are some way connected to hospitality and travel.  We are beginning to see some internet based jobs as the latest under sea internet cables to South America and other places are coming ashore here.  But they are not connected yet.  We have a rail line but it stops at the innercoastal waterway. The bridge was damage in a hurricane and there just wasn’t enough traffic to justify Corman spending the money to fix it.  So it is permanently in the raised position.     @awkward-yet-sweet I’m glad you got to spend some downtime away from the every day at home.  I can’t imagine how a household that large operates.  And I do think you deserve an upgraded commercial kitchen.  But,  you wouldn’t all be able to live together if you spent money buying new to you things instead of fixing the old with so much talent at home.   Well, I hope to spend time creating the outline of my paper today.  I’m sure I will have to refine it a couple of times before it is completed.   enjoy your weekend    willow
