The Bishops have come through with an historic decision. They'll likely lose some members and parishes, but they did the right thing.

NOT SO FAST!!! Sorry to do that, but the Episcopal Church has two legislative "houses" in its national governing body. The Bishops can be likened to the U.S. Senate and the House Of Deputies which is parish clergy (Priests) and lay delegates, which are the U.S. House of Representatives in essence. Of the two, the Bishops are a bit more liberal since for some odd reason there are more of them from liberal (high population) areas and the House Of Delegates has almost an equal liberal and conservative make-up that still could squash the deal. It will be a nail biter for a few more days here, and it probably will be played out to the final day. Not too surprising that the system we 'Piscopoolians' have a system that looks like the U.S. Government, our governance and convention system was modeled after the U.S. constitutional set up. We do have a "President" too, in our case a woman who is the Presiding Bishop of the church who has a set term of office.
