Chille Now offers full coverage of SRS

South America is fast becoming very Trans tolerant with first Argentina and now Chile covering Transsexual care. Along with Cuba and Brazil already covering full treatment of Transgender care and Canada's National Health Insurance covering Transgender Healthcare, good ole America, the country with the world's most advance healthcare, is dragging it's preverbial backside on Trans healthcare coverage. What a disgrace this countries intolerance is.

When in Chile do as the Chileans do.

As you so eloquently stated, "...good ole America, the country with the world's most advance healthcare, is dragging it's preverbial backside on Trans healthcare coverage."

My problem is with your closing statement about the disgrace and this country's perceived move toward intolerance regarding TG/TS issues.

Are there some bad apples in the very large diverse melting pot of America? Without doubt. Though, for the present, this constitutional republic remains strong and free in spite of those who would enslave or purge us.

Whenever I feel a stray moment of remorse for my struggle, I quickly regain composure with thoughts of those in nations who are denied freedom of expression or life.

no harm, no foul.

Hi,

I'm fairly new to this site as a member although I have been here as a guest many times in the past. Yes, America is lagging in coverage for SRS and other needed services for us BUT it is changing, and that is good. What I have noticed is that more and more insurance companies and corporations beginning to offer transsexual/transgender services. I was extremely surprised to see how many Fortune 500 companies are offering coverage as a benefit for their employees. Eastman-Kodak, United/Continental Air Holdings, and even Walt Disney (Inc) I think is even offering benefits for their employees.

Insurance companies have realized that the cost to add SRS and related TG/TS services coverage to it's policies is nowhere near as expensive as they thought it may be. Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Minnesote and BC/BS of Michigan both offer coverage as well as Aetna just to name a couple of carriers. Just Google search 'employers' or 'insurance that covers transgender/transsexual medical needs' and you will most likely be surprised as I was.
