I know some people may not agree with this but I am attempting a "partial" transition, basically I am in a place (the military) where any outward signs of transition would be a problem. Before any of you voice any concerns for my career, I will be leaving the military in about a year so it's not an issue, I just don't want the hassle involved in "coming out" to them. I figure I can explain away most of the effects of HRT but not breasts, so I am planning on taking ***********to inhibit any breast growth, while the hormones "work their magic" so to speak. I got this idea from my experience as an amateur bodybuilder, it's used to stop gynecomastia in guys who are taking steroids.

So in theory, I should get all of the effects of the hormones sans breast growth, but I also want to maintain fertility, my GF (who is extremely supportive) and I plan on conceiving, we are already going to bank, no worries there. I do however have an idea, this also stems from my experience as a bodybuilder, there are two kinds of hormones that affect the testes, LH and FSH, Luteinizing Hormone and Follicular Stimulating Hormone, the first is the hormone that induces testosterone production, which is obviously undesirable. The second induces spermatogenesis, meaning sperm production, so in theory, I could supplement with FSH drugs and maintain fertility while still enjoying all of the benefits of the rest of HRT.

I am very interested in the internal chemistry of people, always have been, so these are my ideas for possibly solving these two issues, but thoughts are very welcome.

P.S. My greatest wish is female fat distribution, as I said I am an amateur body builder and as thus am extremely lean, around 5% body fat, I pretty much have no more fat to lose, and I am wanting to gain it all back in the right places, how long (in your girl's experience) until all of the delicious carbs I eat start being stored in my butt and thighs instead of my stomach. Thank you so much to anyone who responds. <3

That's an interesting theory but one I'm afraid we cannot help you with. We are not medical professionals and because of legalities involved, we cannot dispense medical advice such as you are asking for. The only advice we can give you is to consult with a doctor about your needs. I hope you understand why this has to be so. We're not in a position to be able to afford the costs of a medical malpractice lawsuit.

No Crystal, that's not why we have these terms and conditions here. Hormones, when properly regulated by an endocrinologist, can do wonders for a transsexual person. But unregulated they are a very high risk. There is extremely high risk of liver damage and other complications. I've read the general theory behind what you're saying but each specific case is unique because each of us has unique baseline hormone levels, unique liver processing capacities, unique responses to hormones, etc.

You could discuss this with an endocrinologist and they might very well be able to assist you in developing a hormone regiment that would help you achieve your goals. But you can't seriously expect lay persons to be able to make that judgement, nor, because of the uniqueness of what you are proposing, can you expect there to be many others in the same situation (if any!) who could even pass along similar experiences.

It looks, to me, like you posted here expecting an echo chamber positive reinforcement of your plans which appear to involve self-medication. You're not going to get that here. Hormones are serious business. See an endocrinologist, please!

I would suggest seeking a therapist first and appropriate doctors. It seems to me that underground body building lore probably isn't the best source for medical information. I can see some huge holes in the medical rationale outlined.

P.S. I would expect from a typical sampling that those who been on hormones for less than a year you would hear positive comments about the level of fat redistribution. While from a sampling of those who been on hormones for more than two years the comments would be more restrained. This is because the level of fat redistribution is typically isn't nearly as much as many would like to believe. It is much easier for someone to see the start of redistribution and imagine it going well at the start whereas after a couple years when it hasn't progressed significantly to continue to subscribe to the wishful thinking.

Now how with what you are thinking of doing, perhaps there would be no fat redistibution.

Another note, if your body fat is very low, yes you may have a point that you will add fat in a more female pattern, but was your fat content always so low? Changing diet and becomming leaner doesn't make fat cells go away and the cells you have won't move. The cells that are there will continue to store fat in the areas they are. If anything it will only be new fat cells that form in the new areas that result in the distribution of fat into other areas. That probably won't happen till the existing cells store some amount of fat in the old areas. Now I always wondered if a tummy tuck where fat cells were surgically removed if that would help redistribution, but that is entirely speculative as all of this is.

Best to talk with a doctor.

We are not doctors, or gender therapists, hormones are powerful medications that need to be monitored by a doctor with regular blood tests to make sure they are not doing damage to your body, taking hormones is not like ordering a sandwich at Burger King, you cant say hold the breasts, softening of the skin , or weakening of strength, why start taking hormones now if you are going to take another drug to counteract what the hormones are going to do and maybe jeopardize your health, why not wait until you are out of the military in a year and do it the right way.

In my experience and from what I have observed the amount of fat redistribution depends on how much fat you put on. The differences I have seen in some people has been night and day while in others it has been minimal.

Because I was on T for almost all of a massive weight loss I lost pretty much all the female areas first. My waist is larger than it has ever been at this weight while my chest and hips are smaller. My hips are 35 inches now. Before when my hips were that size my waist was 21" or 22"-now it is 30". I had been a C cup even 30 lbs lighter than I am now but would barely be an A now because of fat loss in the chest.

Basic physiology dictates that you need to add weight to add fat in female places. Just as I had to lose it to take off fat in female places.

But I agree wholeheartedly with not applying bodybuilding principles to HRT. Not the same thing at all. The effect you are describing is developing breasts from an excess of testosterone being converted to a form of estrogen and the process is different. Very different. Not to mention the possible lethal consequences of mixing powerful drugs. Body builders look great but a lot of them end up with serious health problems. Some end up dead. I suspect you know that too. Each body is unique and reacts differently. Some of those guys who end up sick did nothing different from the guys who end up feeling fine. Besides I have heard taking T orally touted in the body building community still while no medical Dr will consider it because of it's liver toxicity among other things. Consult a Dr -not a community that promotes proven unsafe medical practices.

I have to agree with the others here. Hormones are potentially fatal drugs if used improperly and the end results are possibly weird as well. Why not wait and do it right. Go to a Gt and then an MD who knows the story with these drugs and takes blood tests and keeps an eye on the results. I'm waiting for the right doc who will help me. I've got heart problems and need special care but the same may be the case for you. Self medication is just plain dangerous.

Take it from an ex addict.

Hugs,

Charlie

There is a huge amount of things other than body changes that you can work on. If you need to flip-flop you have to be able to turn female and male on and off at will. That includes thinking, voice, walk, mannerisms, the way you stand. These things will "out" you faster than the wrong bubbles in your T-shirt. OK you know she is in you. Study, watch, LISTEN and learn from women in all age groups. Get an understanding of how a female progresses from a young girl to an old women. You are going to go through all that in a lifetime of HRT and transitioning. Your GF is a supporting example but your spectrum needs to be far more huge. You are going to have deal with these choices daily for the rest of your life. One year without hormones will seem later on in your new life like the time it took to adjust a bra strap. This is a lifelong commitment, but you knew that. Luck on your journey. Jody

I started estrogen (oral) a little before age 50 and not the maximum dose either and also no blockers. It almost immediately accentuated the feminine features I already had, and expanded my already soft areas of skin, widened my hips and distributed more fat to my thighs and increased my breast size. There seem to be some subtle changes to my face too though I doubt I am any more passable than I was a decade ago, it’s just nice to not use breast forms anymore. I haven’t switched to injections as planned and there really hasn’t been much change after the first 6 months and my body fights back; my E levels dropped and T increased even on the same dose so it has not really done much for me. It sounds like injections are the far better way to go, plus progesterone after a while if the doctor will prescribe that.    As is often said, everyone is unique and one’s mileage may vary, and what works for one person may not for another.

This is so sad. The violence in general in Washington State seems to have ramped up a lot, and gender-based violence and hate crimes seem to be worse as well. My parents once lived in Renton but I don’t care for that city and never go there. I don’t think it really matters though as crimes like this can happen anywhere and often are perpetrated by a male who was in a prior relationship with the victim.

I’ve never been in therapy specifically labeled as such, butI think IFS therapy evolved from treatment of dissociative identity disorder in which one’s various alters or parts are treated as an internal family, and each part is like a separate individual who can be spoken to individually or have dialogue with other parts. In a person with full DID, doing that supposedly helps to break down the dissociative barriers that cause that person to not be able to remember what they did for parts of a day or longer. This was the case with me.   Anyone’s mind, though, can be thought of as being compartmentalized to some extent and we all can have an inner child and various aspects of our selves, yet the dissociation is never to a degree that it causes problems like with DID. But the same aspects of working with an internal family or different aspects of self, like the inner child, the rebellious teen, the persecutor parental type, etc, can help heal trauma nonetheless. I think many of us do have sides of us that we don’t like, or others don’t like, and it can be useful to examine how they came about and what purpose they serve as they are often a means of self-protection or coping with anxiety.

We had soup and steamed rice for dinner tonight.  Simple, basic, feed-a-ton-of-people kind of food.  With strawberries for dessert!  We have a huge strawberry patch, so I spent a couple of hours this afternoon picking.  And there's some left over, which I put in the downstairs kitchenette.  Time for a late night snack!     Outside of meals, I mostly live by nibbling on fruit and a few green things.

Well, it is officially summer.  85 degrees outside the last two days, and GF is sick and irritable.  I have to curl up under heavy blankets in my nest, because she's got the AC turned down to the point I expect to see icicles growing on the ceiling.  This is what life is like when your partner is an arctic creature. I should be used to it by now, but just when I think its nice and warm, she has to freeze me.

I just can't resist.  Does all that mean that.............the bird is the word?

Well, that might be interesting.  At least since she's 24, its not like you're on the hook for expenses.

Been using the wok on the back deck a lot the last few months.  Just got another stock of udon noodles from Amazon and we are using those in the stir fry with onions, peppers and a spicy peanut sauce.  I did this often in the 90's too, but back then I was just using a standard Coleman camp stove instead of this high BTU wok burner.  I've had the burner for a couple years, but haven't been using it regularly until recently.

I’m a lefty. Learned to be a bit ambidextrous for certain tools that assume right handedness like scissors, but couldn’t write with my right hand to save my life.

Tangent, adjacent, opposite...  It's still rock n' roll to me.  I don't know about the "in god we trust" part of the money, but I like the lady with the scale.  And then I look left at the Indian statue on my mantel of Guanyin feeding a drop of liquid to the dragon at her feet.  In god we trust?  The lady with the scale?  Maybe this is too binary.  And then on the other side of Guanyin is that kind of pelican wood bird that sits two feet tall that I hauled back from South America through the Panama canal.  The beak broke in 1998 and I carefully saved the pieces (as I usually do) and attached them back about a decade ago.  I used a drill to make a small hole and then put a finish nail in there.  Then a hole on those two pieces that needed to be attached.  Upper and Lower beak.  There is still a seam showing.  I could cover that up, but the beak is a bright yellow and well, it's better with all the pieces in place and I don't mind seeing the crack.  I guess that is the tangent and the other two are the opposite and adjacent. -money  Why don't coders always code the "-" action in their search fields?  It's not that difficult!

Definitely points to learn and keep in mind.  A bunch of stuff I had put in mental "cold storage" thawed out a bit there and ready again to run through my mill.  As said, a bit long and as usual from her a tad bit challenging.  Overall I see it and can use it as a working hypothesis.
