Oh my, that is literally right up the street from where I worked, I even know the group of apartments this took place in!! Its not far from the Orange County Jail either, and within two blocks of the courthouse. The gangs in that area are pretty fierce though and do not like trans folk.

I don't think there is much that is funny about this when you realize how many transgender folks are driven to become sex workers just to be able to survive because their families have kicked them out and they are not able to find employment.

Well it's not exactly the bunny ranch, is it. I agree that the article was poorly written, and had a lot of defamatory views towards trans folk.

Unfortunately, the Orange County Register is as right wing as you can get and is not kind to the GLBT community in any way shape or form. The choice of the word brothel was deliberate for its negative connotation. The location and people involved are and were an ethnic community that treats its own GLBT members tragically. I have done administrative law enforcement work at the state level in this area for nearly 30 years and even while not working in the Santa Ana office physically, had cases in the area. At one time, not long ago this crime would have been noted in police reports with the acronym NHI across the top. No Humans Involved!!

The thing is though, that if it had not happened to be TG related, we would never have heard about it, because prostitution of any gender or desire can be had in the area around this one and that is daily and hourly. Orange County may have Disneyland, but this part of it is not a happy kingdom.

I so agree. It makes me sad that news media has a habit of ripping victims hearts out at a time of pain and need. I'm so fortunate to be too old for the porno/sex trade.
