Has anyone given up on dilators?

And just used the adult versions? I'm tired of the dilators. If I'm gonna have to do this, can't I use a finger then a "toy".

I know the standard answer, ask your doctor. He has given me the OK for sex, so I'm thinking I'm good, right?

My ignorant opinion would be yes, go ahead. If you can accomodate a man, you should be able to handle the ersatz version.

The idea is to stretch the tissue and keep the plumbing clear and open.

If you can be comfortable doing so, so much the better.

But, what do I know? I haven't researched this nor am I likely to ever have the issue.

Yes people have used adult toys instead, but this soon after surgery I would advise against it or at least consult your doctor.

The reason is that medical dialators have a non-permeable surfact that bacteria can't penetrate the surface. This is important for cleanliness being able to clean them. After surgery this is important.

The other factor is that toys tend to be larger diamater so that can be a problem. Also most toys have an uneven surface and this could add additional stresses on the tissues after surgery.

I don't know what point at which such are no longer concerns. I guess the point at which the doctor feels one could engage in intercourse would be a resonable indicator. Maybe you are at that point already. Personality I wouldn't push it too early.

The doctor has given me the OK to have sex, and although the Dilators do the job, I feel I might as well have some fun, or at least nake it more realistic than just surgical stretching. I'm past the size of the toy in dilator size already. The only issue is taper, which means I will still have to dilate until I'm a little more open at the deepest end.

Even though the dilators do the job, it's just that, a job.

Dialation is for life. From people I have talked to and what I have read.

It is indeed. I haven't given up on my dilator, either (although that handy tie-up pouch thingy they came in IS getting a little ragged), after three years. Yes, it's a job, but I can sit back and do something else while it's going on, like read a book, or put some Netflix on with my iPad. (I'm currently going through "The Richard Van illegal word Show," (word filter edit) which is hilarious and wonderfully written, and when the show is over, 25 minutes! Perfect!) Nothing says you can't make the job as enjoyable as you can!

I'm not giving up on dilating at all. By what I understand, I'm one of the few that can orgasm while dilating. I simpy want to replace the dilator with a more anatomically correct apparatus. Instead of the surgical hard plastic, something more aesthetically pleasing.

Well dilators are hard for a reason, to ensure you are adequately dilated. A soft dildo might not do the job adequately. That said it you are more than a year out from surgery I don't see a problem with switching. It is during that first year that dilating properly is uber important.

Dilating is definitely unpleasant for most of us (especially at first when it was painful), and sometimes it's hard to find time to just lay there and dilate. I was told by, I think it may have been Dr. Menard or his wife, several months after SRS, that if you had regualar sexual relations, that would be good enough. I dilated for maybe ten years, though I wasn't as regular as I probably should have been. Then I got married, and decided to follow that advice. I still use a vibrator when he's away. I'm certain that my vagina is not as deep and wide as it was the day after my surgery, but it's good enough.

I've also known women who have stopped dilating altogether because intercourse no longer became part of their picture.

I hope this helps.

Jennifer it is good to see you here sharing.  I was perhaps fortunate when health issues forced me to an early retirement.  Suddenly that freedom became a freedom to let go and i started to drink myself towards death.  Any presence of control disappeared.  I am blessed to simply be an alcoholic as i've found it is so much easier to never drink again than to keep trying to contain to keep that wild beast at a "comfortable trot".     Big Hugs,   Charlize

We live with the idea that they won't try to erase us, however, all one has to do is look at the early 1930s in Germany. More recently, look at what Putin did in Russia. Transition has been banned in Russia. We tend to think of the current struggle in the US as a R vs D proposition, yet there are forces internationally that question our very being. I wonder. I wonder what comes next. It is truly amazing how a group so small as we are, is singled out so clearly. We have about 5 1/2 months until things become clearer and possibly scarier. God help us all!

Back to our normal Friday night pizza here. We normally get a Supreme with hot pepperoni.   Tomorrow will be a bit unusual as far as Saturdays go. Our second daughter always comes over for dinner on Saturdays as long as we're here and we leave it up to her to pick. So, roast lamb it is! With potato, butternut pumpkin and carrot segments in the air fryer with a red onion thrown in as well, and peas boiled on the stove, and whatever instant gravy we decide to nuke.

Right handed, but as a kid I always rode a scooter with my left foot on the deck and pushed off with my right, which apparently is not normal.

Good morning everyone,   Parker didn’t make any noise in his crate until 05:50 and that’s my clue to take him outside. Once outside he finds out the overnight rain has the grass wet, and despite my coaxing he does his business on the patio. That’s better than in the house. At this early stage before my coffee has finished brewing. Who’s training who? I’m going to slide his feeding times up the clock to a more reasonable hour. The breeder/farmer got the puppies day started at 05:00 when he would let his dogs out to run the farm. This included mom and puppies. I’ve become accustomed to sleeping in, so we’re going to work on sliding his activity schedule a bit. Parker (dog) and Sheldon (cat) are warming up to one another, Amy (cat) is having nothing to do with the invading puppy.    Second cup of coffee is going smoothly now that the pets are settled in their windows and back door.    Have a great day,    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
