I watched the DNC convention tonight

I was very impressed by Michelle Obama's speech tonight. She is an excellent speaker and I enjoyed listening to her talk about her family. Especially liked the following comments ," In Barrack's car I could actually see the pavement whizzing by, it had a rusted out hole in the door ". I think she also said it was more rust than car. Also commented on their early married life, " We were so in love with each other and so in debt. Our student loan payments were more than our house mortage".

Personally John Kasich [ gov R] is an affront to Ohio. A true political hack-hack. He hasn't brought any real jobs to Ohio. If Obama hadn't given the auto makers bailout money [ all since repaid] we'd be so darn depressed here that 9-10 would have been forced onto welfare.

I was impressed with both her speech and the keynote speach. Mayor Castro is quite an impressive young man.

It was no accident that the First Lady mentioned same sex marriage at least twice. You won't hear any support for LGBT rights from anyone on the other side. The Dems won't win any right wing hearts and minds with that, but they wouldn't have had those anyway.

I have heard bits and pieces but I have always enjoyed hearing her speak, even when it is just on talk shows.

It always seems that she is intelligent and believes in what she is saying.

The Democratic Party is the only hope for GLBT rights because the other party's interest in in the 'Christian rights' - nothing Christian about them but the name.

Love ya,

I have my doubts that the Dems will make any more movement on civil rights for GLBT than the Reps will move on the desires of the extreemists in their party that, for example, want Medicare disbanded or the NEA elimintated. Once elected politiicans have an anoying tendancy to govern in a very moderate way bowing to the wishes of the majority. I think Obama did pretty much what a third term of Bush would have done. I see little hope that a second term of Obama will do much more for us than Romney will.

Dont get me wrong, I think the average Dem voter is far more tolerant of GLBT lifestyles than the average Rep voter. But it's the moderate voters who switch parties that the Reps and Dems are always trying to court. If you want to get movement on our issues you need to move the moderate voters to our cause. Get them to start polling as pro GLBT rights and you will see both parties doing more in hopes of garnering those votes.

I say do what businesses do. Support both sides and then no matter who wins they owe you.

That can get pricey... Politicos at the fed level cost a lot and if they head up committies they cost even more.

I looked at the FactChecker.org site, and was disappointed to find that many of the Dems speeches were riddled with as many exaggerations, mis-characterizations, and outright falsehoods as the Republican speeches. I'm not surprised, but I had hoped they would set a higher standard for "thruthiness." The road to the White House is paved with bull feces, and is exactly as stinky as it sounds. ;)

It's important to note that at the DNC there are 14 delegates (? constituents? not sure what the correct word is here) who are transgender.

I was at the bank closing on my house and my banker is a good friend. The Horse pucky coming out of both conventions is so deep that we both decided to just vote against all incumbents. Our country is in some deep trouble and the politicians aren't listening or working with each other to solve the problems.

Our problems are as bad as the problems the country faced during the Great Depression. I don't see any politician out there with the courage to lead. Every politician is for sale in order to get re-elected. We have such a hard time getting our needs met because we don't have any money. Anybody know a wealthy Trans person? I don't. Most of us are struggling to afford hormones, much less funding a message. Kathryn

I have so much respect for you seeing that in a true way. Very few people have the patience to be that abstract, especially to their own party. I am really starting to like the Libertarian party after being an Independent for my entire voting career.

That's great @MaeBe hopefully the company will offer your wife a moving package with the new job position. That's how I was transferred from the St. Louis Metro area to the Indianapolis Metro area. The company covered all the moving expenses, as well as a three week stay in an extended living hotel while we chose an area to build our current home.   Good Luck and make it a happy adventure.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

@Birdie is the day care in charge of your MyChart, Hospital, and Doctors as to how you are cared for? There has to be some way to prove that you were born intersex and have a choice on your chosen pronouns. I wish we could do more for you. Keep pushing forward.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

The Republicans are not interested in compromising.  Johnson will be gone for compromising unless the Dems help him out.

Biden campaigned as the master negotiator, able to push legislation through Congress.   Whatever bill a Dem president, a Dem Senate, and a Rep House can agree on might be  more palatable than a bill with a R president, R Senate and R House given present attitudes. They are throwing away a chance.

A bill like this would never get through congress, even if it were allowed to be voted on.

Ha, that's funny - I swear this is the one I used to use in high school to get around school blockers and play games. 😅🤦‍♀️   Though I'd be wary of using a free VPN today, if your only intent is bypassing censorship, I guess it works. Proton VPN also has a free tier with a limited selection of countries/servers. I feel more comfortable recommending them as they actively try to fight censorship with new evolving VPN protocols, and they protect your privacy. They are also directly funded by their paying customers. So there is really no downside to using their free tier over another free VPN that may not have the same goals/values.

That sounds pretty accurate. I'm just glad I don't use Windows anymore, as I basically consider Windows itself a virus/malware. Backups can absolutely save you from some types of malware like ransomware. However it's ideal to just not get infected by having smart browsing habits. It's been said, and very accurately so, that the best antivirus is you - even the best antivirus isn't 100% accurate in detecting bad stuff, if you go out looking for that stuff or browse carelessly.   I guess if you don't care and/or don't have sensitive data on your PC, then that's fine I suppose. I personally care a lot - personal accounts, private messages, and even my very presence on this site aren't necessarily things I want to be public knowledge. 🤓🫠

Yes he is. Sorry it has taken so long. One sick kid and the other has needed my attention more than usually.
    • MaeBe
Sure is! Is he good with the kiddos?

Once again the Biden admin ignores Congress and issues a regulation that can be quickly changed. It would be much wiser if they worked a bill through Congress that became law.
    • Ashley0616
I think that is the camera on the floor. Of course the kids aren't picking up after themselves oh well. He sure is big for only being 6 months old.

Love the look! "What are you doing with that shiny thing!?"
