Anorexia and Insomnia

This isn't so much of an issue about the eating disorder as one about its side effects. Yes... I realize that I am probably killing myself this way, and I realize that it is my fault and that I should seek help and so on. I've been down that road many times, but at the moment I just haven't got the time or resources to get help.

What I'm concerned with is the fact that I haven't been able to sleep at night. The hunger pains are there, but I've slept through them before. The depression is there, maybe that also has some hand in the sleeplessness. Obviously, ana is giving my insomnia. And, I should really stop.

But, I was wondering if anyone out there who has had to deal with insomnia or anorexia might know of ways to get to sleep? I know it would be a quick fix, and just addressing the symptoms doesn't get to the root of the problem, but the insomnia is causing problems of its own. I will address the eating disorder itself, but not right now. I just need to know if there is any way to trick my body into thinking that it is full so I can get to sleep... or something! Anything? I just need some sleep, because staying up late is only making things worse for me and isn't helping with my depression or my metabolism. My low metabolism is part of the reason why I feel the need to restrict and exercise so much.

Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

Also, bonus question: Will losing more weight help get rid of my breasts? In theory?

What you are asking is for pro ana tips.....

I'm sorry but you need to get help....I had a friend like you. Maybe your age, and ftm too! He is very thin naturally, but before he began T he was very dysphoric. He starved himself, and starved himself because he wanted to lose his breast. He later started T and he is all better now. I HEARD he's having problems with his bones now? They are not growing and we're both the same age..... Anyway it just doesn't work YOU WONT LOSE BREAST TISSUE..... They'll decrease slightly and sag, but they'll still be there!

I use to get hunger pains and they would wake me up. So just have some water handy? That usually helps. GET HELP THOUGH! You cant ever live your life normally if you're dead :/

Thanks. The water helps. I can't seem to lose weight any more anyway. I hit my plateau and then my body rebelled. It was really depressing.

Obviously you need to get help, but for insomnia, I recommend starting with trying melatonin. If that is too weak, you might want to see a doctor. I was prescribed Trazodone, which worked OK, but I have really bad insomnia and it still didn't make me fall asleep and now I'm on atarax and this seems to work quite well.

Hi Sebastian,

Some tips for insomnia.

Avoid All Caffeine including coffee, tea and sodas.

I myself only drink Decaf. Tea and Decaf. soda.

Also try to be active during the day instead of sitting home all day and watching TV or Computer Games.

Go for a walk so that you get slightly tired physically.

Before going to bed, take a warm shower.

Hope this helps you.

Hugs,

Carla

Nope.  I live in a rural area.  Pride events are for city folks.  The normally quiet LGBTQ+ club kind of changes atmosphere during that time, and things get a bit political.  As a non-Democrat, I avoid it.

For me, definitely the size thing.  I'm 5'4" on a good day, and 100lbs.  I can pass as a teenage boy, but never for my real mid-30s age.  And since my husband looks older than his age, I'm often assumed to be his kid.  Or folks think there's something illegal going on.      Also, my lack of the typical aggressive "masculine" demeanor.  I don't really desire the typical masculine social role, nor could I do it even if I tried really hard.  I'm usually quiet and kind of timid.

I am sorry for your struggles. I cannot empathize, but I can surely sympathize. I wish only the best for you!

My size. A lot of guys aren't 5'3" at seventeen. My hands. It's a less noticeable one, but my hands are very "feminine"? If you know what I mean. My voice. Very high-pitched. I don't just sound like a female, I sound like a little girl sometimes My chest. I've had to stop binding due to frequent aches doing so, and it's not nearly small enough to just cover with baggy clothes My family. They still call me she/her, so that's an automatic out. My anxiety. I might be able to pass better if I had the courage to correct people. Instead, I'm too scared to speak up, so I find it hard. My lack of men's clothes.   Anyone else have these problems, or other ones?

From what I have read and heard most people are so.busy with their everyday lives and either looking at their phones or in a hurry to notice you out and about.

This exactly ^^^   I actually really liked games where I was required to play a male character. It felt homey, in a way.

I can relate.  I have always played a female character when given the opportunity. Not really and reason except I just alway pick them since I was young

Yes, our little town is having its 3rd annual Pridefest. I've volunteered the first two years  from setup to tear down (though I do take an hour off to eat and drink in the middle).     Then I attend a bigger one a couple towns over that has had some decent entertainment from some semi-famous folks (Laura Benanti, Patrick Wilson, Carmen Carrera, Judy Gold, etc).    This year I made sure to ask off of (weekend) shifts to attend a 3rd one where a group I'm in is in the parade.

Hi Vicky, I agree with you, so far since the time I've been under the new treating doctor's care, she prescribed me medication, but it's for children lol  luckily  my pharmacy warned me from a phone call not to take the medication.

Welcome to the party, M.A.     Sounds chaotic haha, I can confidently say that living with only two children the same age is stressful enough, much less three!
