Stupid Warnings/Labels.

In reference to a certain urban legend, it was my understanding that there is a label on some microwave ovens warning you not to try to dry your pet in it after a bath.

Really?!

It's like those nitwit 'These are professionals. Do not try at home!'

OOh, I just happened to think. . .the fine print in t.v. ads that warn that Viagra will not prevent venereal disease.

I'm speechless!!

(Perhaps the mod could combine this post with the one I made a second ago on this same thread?)

My favorite warning labels are the all inclusive list of side effects that invariably contain all of the symptoms of the ailment that you are trying to cure.

My peanut butter has a warning label on it letting me know it may contain peanuts however, my mustard and pickles have one let me know they DO NOT have peanuts in them. and for some reason my bottled water has ingredients printed on the bottle and my jar of Fennel seed, Ingredients: Fennel seed....

Whats sad is that the idiots out there actually did these things and had another dumb idea to sue the company for not warning them.....:-/

The sad part is that our judicial systems allowed for the cases to proceed.

This may be the most cringe-worthy that I've seen. Found on a 6-piece precision screwdriver set

"Not to be inserted into penis"

My God! Hysteria on the Half Shell.

The screw driver people were looking out for those who'd been told to go screw themselves, I"ll bet!

There is a legitimate reason for that warning. My dad was a police officer in the 80's. He once got called by a woman who wanted them to arrest her children for doing exactly that to her cat. They didn't open the microwave, just took it straight to the dump.

I question the legitimacy when you consider that damn few people read the warnings at all and I would imagine that among the ones that do there are precious few if any children.

At the very best, these are what are called C.Y.A.s, i.e. 'cover your. . .' (I forget the rest.) It's an insurance move.

I read a funny one today . I was eating a health bar and was bored so I read the writing on the wrapper .

May contain peanuts and tree nuts . Made me giggle . How many nuts are there ? I know many live in my area but gee even on tress. Wow :)

The de-licing powder for chickens has a warning ''Do not force feed chickens [brand name]''.

But with everything, it's there for a reason. Someone, somewhere, fed their chickens powder to kill Lice.

It also has a do not ingest in the warnings as well as a do not ingest in the directions for use.

Seems that same person was persistent!

That one's valid. Peanuts grow in the ground and a lot of people are allergic to them. There are lots of different tree nuts, then there's the nut who lives next door...

And according to the warning on t.v., there's the nuts who somehow came up with the idea that Viagra will prevent venereal disease.

Really? :doh1:
