Mah name is Sam. When I was 18 I started questioning mah gender. I was biologically born a female, buh as time went on I started feeling uncomfortable in mah skin. Now at the age of 23, I live a happy life because I have a great family, buh I'm not "out". A select few members of mah family know. I haven't told anybody else really. I hint to mah mom, buh she doesn't really listen. I would love to tell her though, buh we have a great relationship and I'm afraid that if I come out to her as trans it would affect it severely. I don't know when it first started, buh I can remember times in mah childhood and teen yrs where it can be brought into question. I used to like girls in my early teens and it just felt natural. I was immature too so I didn't know anything about being transgender. I'm not sure if I fled from the feelings of being attracted to girls or if it just went to the back of my head because from about 13-16 i was attracted to guys. Then 16-21 I was attracted to both sexes, buh like I said before I started questioning mah gender. Now I feel like I'm missing out on life because I'm no longer comfortable in this body that I was born in.

To find out if you are trans, or answer any questions about where you might fall within the gender spectrum, we usually recommend seeing a gender therapist. If you are in or near a city of any size, there may be one or more G.T.'s. But I don't know enough about your situation to know if that is possible right now, or even if its what you want to do. I suggest browsing the forums here that interest you, seeing what others have experienced, and you may find some answers, along with some friends. I can say that you'll find friendship and support here.
