Here is the deal. I dont think anyone here will deny that GD is a real medical issue although they argue its mental and not physical. I disagree but that's besides the point. An inmate is considered property of the state and is to receive all health care services deemed needed by a doctor. By that definition if it is deemed by a doctor that it is necessary for the SRS then the state must pay for it.

This hardly seems fair as most insurances will not pay for SRS and I hardly could see me committing murder to have it done but for inmates in for life I don't see how they really can get out of it legally. They can and will drag their feet and perhaps will end up "legally breaking the law" as they often do but by the letter of how they deal with inmates health issues they are bound to do so.

Some might argue that this is part of her punishment but no, she was sentenced to go to prison that is her punishment. She is currently in a male prison and Im sure is the target for many sexual assaults because of this and I would think that the state would see this also as a safety issue, taking into consider how much they are going to spend on court costs and other legal and medical fees associated with these possible attacks. Its not like she is going to have it any easier in a womens prison. Those women are tough too. Dont you think for a second that they are not. Again it is not part of her punishment to be sexually assulted or at the very least be at a much higher risk, costing the state extra in having to protect her, her punishment was to go to prison.

The tax payers decided that they should pay for needed medical procedures. The doctors decide what is a needed procedure not the politicians nor the tax payers. Sorry Jenny Tax Payer
