Any Ways to Prevent Masculinization?

Hi. I've only ever made one topic on these boards before, and I realized immediately after that I posted it in the wrong forum (oops!), so I hope I'm getting it right this time. I'm not trans MTF, I think, but I'm something that would currently very much like to be more feminine. Or just not masculine, at least. Hormones aren't even a conceivable possibility right now, because I have yet to even speak to a gender therapist about my issues (there are maybe 3 in my area: one doesn't see people my age, one hasn't replied to either of my phone calls, and one is on vacation and I waited too long to try contacting them).

So I figure that "diet and excercise" are my only options right now. My college exam schedule has "fortunately" prevented me from going to the gym as much as I normally do, so I'm definitely losing some of my masculine muscle (although I kind of liked most of it...). But if there are any exercises anyone could recommend to help me stay slim while also not being bony and angular in a masculine way, that would be helpful, I think. And are there any exercises that would make my legs less like sticks? Also, I went through puberty a little more slowly than some, but now I think it's catching up to me, because I've noticed more hair on my body (prompting me to shave 50% of it off) and I could swear my adam's apple has gotten bigger in the past few months, which is really, really distressing for me at times. So is there -Anything- I can eat or do safely that will somehow slow down my later puberty effects until I have the chance to talk to a therapist and maybe do androgen-blockers? I'm vegan so I eat a lot of soy, and I'm not exactly worried about the possibility that the phytoestrogens could mess with my male hormones.

I really just need more time to deicde things, but I feel like my body is deciding for me, and I absolutely hate that. Any suggestions?

I would suggest high fiber and protein meals that will help build amino acid in your body to help you muscle build and LIFTING weights and doing interverl training that will help not look like a stick and give you some form of shape without bulking up. It's just toning, so when you do start hormones you will get a fantastic feminine figure results.

As far as preventing masculine features, you can't, your body genetic will do what it wants till your on hrt. There are other routes but I'm not going to give you that information it not under supervision.

Hi B-ren,

Welcome to Laura's! :D

As for the gym, work out styles can have an impact upon your body.

Have you ever noticed how athletes of certain types of sports have elongated and lean muscles, while other types of athletes have more bulked muscles? While genes can play a role in this, the type of exercise can also be a major factor. Even within weight training itself, the amount of weight and the number of repititions can have an impact upon whether the effect is slimming and toned or bulked up. (All of this type of info is easily found on the net.)

I hope the gender therapist gone on vacation will return soon!?

I am sure others will be along to comment! :D

Hope to see you around at Laura's!

Happy Holidays!

Brad

Thank you for the suggestions. I'll try looking up what's best for me... and maybe eating more protein. I'll have to wait for the therapist until January, so here's hoping.

Happy holidays!

hi. I found for me lean meats and protein, toning in yoga not lifting weights helps a lot. yoga is great for the mind and to make a smaller body/fem etc. I think I read you are a vegan so the meat thing wont apply but seriously try yoga classed you may be surprised ! There are other things that work to but they are NOT healthy and could harm in the long run so I think its better to stick with things that will promote a good life that encourages positive change :) Im no doctor just a person whos always looking for a good way to soften my appearance!! take care :)

I've read that drinking spearmint tea is sometimes used for women with hirsutism (hairyness). It's a perfectly safe herbal supplement that has a lot of benefits, among them being that's it's an anti-androgen. It's supposed to reduce the amount of free testosterone in the blood, while leaving total testosterone levels unchanged. Don't overdo it on the tea, though. Don't drink any more than one or two cups a day

Quite true.  The amusing thing about opposites is how similar they can be.   My family left Greece because of the conflict between the communists and the militarists/fascists.

This wouldn't even be a problem if they would just leave us alone.  It is a no-brainer.

OMG.  I'm glad it wasn't worse, and you were able to get on it quickly.  Lots of blood can be scary.

Like I said, I'm no tankie, but I do see a world of difference between Joseph Stalin and Bernie Sanders.   If the point is not wanting 'government control' the Right is pretty good at that themselves - as they've been demonstrating lately. This stuff gets complicated.

So, I am curious. Is the Governor going to mandate vaginal or penile recognition photos before one enters the restroom? Considering the Governor has no balls to do the right thing, will he have to pee against a tree outside? Inquiring minds would like to know. I love it when the job recruiters contact me about the wonderful jobs available in Oklahoma. It is so much fun telling them there is no way I will ever go to Oklahoma. When there are no workers, then they can shutter the place.

Ngl, probably Sonic the Hedgehog, the Beatles, or the Monkees. Those are the three subjects I know the most about so I could drop hours of info on them.

Isaac Asimov, Albert Einstein and Robert Kennedy, in that order.

Thank you! I'm out of coffee so I have been drinking hot tea instead. Looking forward to the 1st. It's crazy that we are almost in May. This year has flown by really quick! Good to hear that y'all got to sleep in. Hope you have a good weekend too!

It's nice to care about others but you need to live your life as you please. No one be your only source of happiness. Love yourself and don't look back. I lost over 40 family members it hurts but apparently, they didn't truly love me. True love will always be there through the thick and thin. I can honestly say that HRT has made me think in ways that I never thought I would. I get myself some shoes or clothes every month because retail therapy not only helps but it is a reward to myself to show love. I have over 100 dresses. I have a whole walk-in-closet full of clothes and 67 pairs of shoes. I love who I am. I was born in 84 so not all people in the 80's think that way. As far as the name just take your time and be happy with it. I knew I loved the name Ashley. Take care and welcome!

Congratulations Sam,   The common saying her once someone starts HRT is: “Enjoy the ride.”   Best wishes, stay positive and motivated    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

WOW @Ashley0616 it’s good that you have skills to treat traumatic injuries, as well as the ability to remain calm while managing others needs to get yourself and the boys ready to go to the hospital. Proud mama bear skills. I’m glad that he’s doing well.    Meanwhile back at the ranch, we slept in and I’m just now finishing my 3rd cup of coffee.    Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Well yesterday was not fun. I was getting ready to make dinner and I hear screaming and crying. I look over and my son put his foot through glass. He gashed near his Achilles tendon. Thankfully that is intact. I didn't freeze for a second. All of my military training came into play. I doctored him up and got Jett ready and myself and we headed to the ER. He is doing ok today. He says he is in pain but doesn't need Tylenol. He is a tough cookie!

Hi,   It's seems today is my trans birthday.  I'm beyond excited. Just picked up my testogel from the pharmacy. Although I naturally have doubts as I'm sure do we all, they are rapidly disappearing. Yesterday I was so nervous I kept claiming I'm not trans, despite grinning like a fool knowing I can pick up my prescription the next day. I'm shaking and on the verge of happy tears. I will put on my first sachet this eve. Thanks so much to this forum and kind words from people. This is the first forum I found when I began seriously questioning.
