Well, I'm in Collage 3 days out of the week and the rest I have off. Lately my parents have been paying my rent but not anything extra. If I want extra money to blow I need to get a job. I quit my last job right before I started taking T, because of stress.

Anyway...tommrow I'm going to the cops office and handing in my name change form. A few days later my male name will finally be official. So I can put my male name on my resumes. Even then I couldn't fully pass due to my voice. Which could take 7 months to change....Which leaves me in a bit of a dilemma.

..Do you think, seeing as I have the chance, I should not have a job till I pass more?...but be moneyless...or take the chance like others and get a job. Or maybe I could get a job and not tell the boss and see if anyone notices the changes? What if my voice changes in the middle of working there? How would I explain it?

Sorry...so many questions.

Another thing, a little off topic but it has to do with T and I don't want to post another topic just for somthing so small. I know its way, way to early for my voice to start changing now. However, my voicebox hurts...alot. It started hurting a day after my 2nd shot. Its a constant pain that gets to the point swallowing hurts alot. I'll be talking then my voice cuts out. As example: "Hey I w-....He- I -as.... HEY I WAS" It sort of feels like theres a lump in my throat thats cutting off my airway sometimes not letting me talk properly. Could this have anything to do with T or is that just wishful thinking and I should go to my doctor about the random pain?....

Thanks in advanced for any help. It took me awhile to choose to ask for help on this, seeing as its been along time and I still cant choose. I have a feeling I'll keeping debating with myself, wasting time, till I havent had a job for a year. lol

I wouldn't worry about when your voice changes - you are still young and some men's voices change later than others! So I would go for the job!

I might check into the pain, however, I'm not sure that it is 'normal' with T and I went through puberty so long ago that it is just a distant nightmare!

Wait around and one of the guys will show up and give you a little better advice!

Love ya,

Sally

Yep, if its been about a month and it feels that way you're about on time. I was one of the "it hurts" variety. Then it went to everyone commenting "do you have a cold" with it. For other guys -like you- theres the "breaking" (thats the up and down, squeeky in and out sound that you have right now) So those are first indicators. How soon or late a person sees first symptoms is always varied but those are the signs. And as far as I can tell, it can drop, then have subsequent instances of droppin more and more. How long or how many till its done I couldn't tell ya. Somebody transitioning a LOOONG time will have to tell us. I'm only at month 4. And I probably would worry more about the hair on your face getting remarks than the voice lol. Don't have any idea when you might see some that depends soley on genetics but I can tell you that once you do thats when peeps will quickly start "lookin" questioning what you are.

And whether or not to take the job now? I guess depends on whether or not you want to have an experience of what its like to transition on the job. Besides, just because you've had a certain job doesn't actuallly obligate you to list it on your resume later.

Hey Zabrak, I would suggest getting the job. My reasoning might be off but here it is.

You are in collage so whatever job you get is just for your current money needs, so there is a good chance your not looking to start a career right now (of course I could be wrong, maybe you are ). Use this experience to learn how to deal with people as a man and to get used to being treated differently in the workplace.

Your still young and many young men look feminine so you can get away with a lot more than you prolly realize. It is true you might have someone respond negatively, but we all have to put up with that as we transition and often even long after the transition is complete. I am not saying it would be easy, I think everyone reading this including yourself knows full well that what we deal with on a daily basis is not easy. I just think it might be a good experience and the lessens you learn about yourself now in the workplace as a man, you can use when your ready to start a career after collage.

The other nice thing about your situation right now is you don’t have to fully support yourself ( if your parents are paying your rent), so you can be very picky about what job you go after, and who you will be working with.

This is just my 2 cents worth. I have only just started my own transition so I am not talking from experience, I am just thinking out loud. I hope whatever you choose to do works out for you.

.....I agree with Magan. It's almost a "freebie" way to work out whatever "kinks" you'll find out about working as "Kyle", a male. Heck I'd rather do the "maiden flight" while there's not a car note, insurance, and house payment on the line, wouldn't you? Think it over.

Yeah thats a good point. I really just need to stop procrastinating and try out a job. Face the music, I guess. I know Ill always have to face some kind of touble and I can always quit this job...The only thing is some people look at your job history. Mine is pretty bad because I've quit around 4 jobs already. Ah well...its little jobs. I'm sure a tech shop job will only look for the right skills when it comes to getting hired in the future job place I want.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, the voice change. Well born a natal male. The voice changes that you describe and the confirmation by Evanis spot on. When I was about 13 or 14 my voice would suddenly crack, it would go high, go low, come back to neutral. Go full circle and this went on for about a year, so it was kind of interesting to read this post, since tomorrow is my 61st b'day.

Also don't worry about the job changes, employers expect to see short term dates for young people..............Like your Macbeth quote . Your right on young man............Mia.

What are you waiting for? I

t's nearly midnight - tomorrow starts in about 7 minutes!

Are you just going to lie around in bed all day?

Get up and go get a job!

The early bird catches the worm (if indeed it is worms that you are after)!

I'm trying to sound motherly, is it working?

Find a job and see how things go - you can always use the money - transitioning ain't cheap and FTM - WOW!

Sally

yeah, don't get lazy...just keep on looking, and looking, and looking, and looking and looking...especially with how the economy is right now.

How's the situation going :3?

I haven't got a job yet.

Yeah I'm bad.

I'm sure it wont be that hard when I get off my butt and do it. The job problem isn't bad at here over in Canada. I mean, if it is as bad as the U.S it hasn't effected my area. Haven't heard anyone here whine yet...hopefully that wont change!

Whatcha doing up in the middle of the morning hours!!

Yes - go for the job. Young guys like you are given a lot of latitude with looks and ways - everyone will probably think you are a late bloomer (which you really are if you think about it - they just don't know from which plant you are blooming from - grin).

Pocket money is GREAT! Your self confidence will soar! Yeaaaaa Zabrak

Oh Zabrak, sweetie,

If you keep lying around all day and sitting up all night you will never find a job.

Just an oh so sweet reminder to set a schedule and stick to it - just like you were on a job already.

Then it will be so much easier to go out and find a job, won't it?

You have never disappoointed me before, let's not start now.

That's about all of the motherly things that I can think of right now.

Seriously, I want you to be happy and work isn't the greatest thing in the world, but until they start handing out money based on good looks, you're just going to have to find a job.

If they do start passing out money based on good lucks, could you loan a little bit to your mom?

Love ya,

Momma Sally

April, that is def good advice. I have had some really bad experiences with a therapist in the past. She way violated my trust. That caused a massive amount of damage to every corner of my life. Truthfully, because of that i have alot of deep seeded trust issues. I'm not sure i could ever go back to therapy. You are of coarse right, therapy would help, suppose its a matter of finding the right one and learning how to trust again.

I look for purses with a shoulder strop that goes across the body. I also like many pockets. But one purse is not enough. I like purses that are artistic and make a statement about my personality. It doesn't have to be flamboyant, but matches my character. I also need a purse when I want to blend in and not be noticed so easily. One that won't draw attention to me when I don't desire it.

What if a social media platform giant, (we all know its name) on devices we own, is held responsible for creating rules to intentionally target our community? for political reasons?

Well just got back back from a visit to our oldest and family. It was nice having my granddaughter snuggle up to me on the couch. Gave me a big hug when we went over yesterday. Spent all day yesterday with them.  I envy my granddaughter, being able to grow up a girl. Something I wish I got to do.    Hugs, Kymmie

I hope our members from the Mid-South are doing OK today.  A lot of places had a real disaster overnight.  Tornadoes dropped all over, through Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, and Tennessee.  Lots of damage, and many people missing.  Pray for those involved, and that there won't be another wave of it tonight.   My county was spared almost all of it, but a neighboring county was hit hard.  Our Defense personnel were mobilized this morning to assist with access control, because all their local LEOs are needed for search and rescue.  No idea of how many are injured and missing, but there have been several deaths.  We may not know for weeks.  Rural areas here have a lot of shacks and trailer houses, and most people were asleep because it hit at the worst time - early morning on a Sunday during a holiday weekend.  Tornado hit a retirement home, and lots of elderly folks were hurt bad.  There was no forecast for this, and little if any warning.      Electrical outage is widespread, and it has been followed by a really hot, humid day.  Heat index is around 115 - it's killer heat.  I went out with my husband this morning, since everybody with a CDL was needed for a convoy.  I'm back home now, since I only got a couple of hours of sleep last night.  He'll probably be there overnight, and GF is there also helping with mechanical issues.  They've converted a big Baptist church into a community shelter for people who have lost their homes, and set up a generator and AC.  I'll probably go back tomorrow to help some more, as they're working on setting up a kitchen...nobody wants to eat MRE's forever.    They're getting no help from the state at all yet.  Governor didn't bother to declare an emergency until this afternoon!   The National Guard hasn't been activated either.  If it wasn't for Defense personnel, there'd be gawkers and looters. Its ridiculous, like only the cities matter.  Two rural towns literally no longer exist - its like a bulldozer a half-mile wide went through.  I've seen tornado damage before, but this is the worst.  Its just heartbreaking to look at it.
