Getting the male hairline cut in pre T

Flint

Recommended Posts

A FTM mentioned to me one night about getting asking the barbers/whoever cuts your hair to cut in a male hair line.

I was wondering what others experience of this are? Pre-T this is.

I don't know much about hair, can't say I'm all that interested in the topic in general, but this idea has me interested.

Me not knowing much about hair means I'm a bit confused by the idea... When i hear the words hairline I always think of something that is natural and not changeable, I'm pretty sure I've been told or read that a hairline not natural to you can not be cut in, your hair line just can not be changed....

But apparently some FTM's have asked for the hairline cutting in and they've had it done?

Personally I just shave the whole thing evenly with the shaver like barbers have. Once it grows out a bit from the initial cut I think it looks pretty good. Though I have been called 12 years old by people a couple years older than me and a little girl called me 9 before lol.

When i was pre T i had very thick hair and asked my barber to do just that, cut it in at the forehead to make a more masculine look - he politely refused - now i wish he could put back the hair ive lost in the last 7 yrs - so dont worry - your male hairline will most definately appear once you are on T, enjoy your hair inthe meantime, lol!

I know a couple of older ftm's who used clippers (or had a sympathetic barber) to shave the hair at the hairline to mimic a more male pattern. They felt it helped them pass pre-T or in the early stages of taking T. Most guys past a certain age have at least some thinning at the temples if not more hair loss, so they felt it was a good way to emphasize their male appearance. But as Jaques has said, the T eventually does the work for you!

Just hope it doesn't do TOO much work for you! I'm sure you could do what we MTFs do and style around it, though most "masculine" cuts might not give you enough length to play around with hairlines. I say enjoy all your hair while you have it all! :D

Personally I'm happy to exchange thinning hair and a receding hairline for that feminine monthly visit. Bring on the male pattern baldness!

................probem is, it isnt JUST male pattern baldness, i dont know 1 F2M whos been on T for any length of time who hasnt lost most or a great deal of hair, when i said this to my endo. he (whos also F2M) agreed with me - i thought the same as you because i looked so very feminine and would never have passed in a million years if it werent for T, otherwise i wouldnt have taken it, but would still have gon ahead with chest surgery. I dont regret it but i do miss my thick hair and have cut down my T to a quarter of normal dose because of hi BP and cholestorol which i didnt have before so am hoping that might also stop my hair falling out completely.

I haven't lost any of my hair, my hair has actually gotten thicker. Same goes for most of the guys I know

and to the OP, you can ask for an edge up, but it might look odd depending on your race. Google it if you dont know what it looks like.

We had soup and steamed rice for dinner tonight.  Simple, basic, feed-a-ton-of-people kind of food.  With strawberries for dessert!  We have a huge strawberry patch, so I spent a couple of hours this afternoon picking.  And there's some left over, which I put in the downstairs kitchenette.  Time for a late night snack!     Outside of meals, I mostly live by nibbling on fruit and a few green things.

Well, it is officially summer.  85 degrees outside the last two days, and GF is sick and irritable.  I have to curl up under heavy blankets in my nest, because she's got the AC turned down to the point I expect to see icicles growing on the ceiling.  This is what life is like when your partner is an arctic creature. I should be used to it by now, but just when I think its nice and warm, she has to freeze me.

I just can't resist.  Does all that mean that.............the bird is the word?

Well, that might be interesting.  At least since she's 24, its not like you're on the hook for expenses.

Been using the wok on the back deck a lot the last few months.  Just got another stock of udon noodles from Amazon and we are using those in the stir fry with onions, peppers and a spicy peanut sauce.  I did this often in the 90's too, but back then I was just using a standard Coleman camp stove instead of this high BTU wok burner.  I've had the burner for a couple years, but haven't been using it regularly until recently.

I’m a lefty. Learned to be a bit ambidextrous for certain tools that assume right handedness like scissors, but couldn’t write with my right hand to save my life.

Tangent, adjacent, opposite...  It's still rock n' roll to me.  I don't know about the "in god we trust" part of the money, but I like the lady with the scale.  And then I look left at the Indian statue on my mantel of Guanyin feeding a drop of liquid to the dragon at her feet.  In god we trust?  The lady with the scale?  Maybe this is too binary.  And then on the other side of Guanyin is that kind of pelican wood bird that sits two feet tall that I hauled back from South America through the Panama canal.  The beak broke in 1998 and I carefully saved the pieces (as I usually do) and attached them back about a decade ago.  I used a drill to make a small hole and then put a finish nail in there.  Then a hole on those two pieces that needed to be attached.  Upper and Lower beak.  There is still a seam showing.  I could cover that up, but the beak is a bright yellow and well, it's better with all the pieces in place and I don't mind seeing the crack.  I guess that is the tangent and the other two are the opposite and adjacent. -money  Why don't coders always code the "-" action in their search fields?  It's not that difficult!

@April Marie Yes, it's something to shop for at least for 6-8 weeks.

Definitely points to learn and keep in mind.  A bunch of stuff I had put in mental "cold storage" thawed out a bit there and ready again to run through my mill.  As said, a bit long and as usual from her a tad bit challenging.  Overall I see it and can use it as a working hypothesis.
