Canadian bill C-279 is on hold

Hi looks like the bill to give the transgender community the same rights as others is on hold for now. they keep calling it the bathroom bill. i am disapointed by my MP i will have to see what the other partys offer in the next fedreal election. heres an article in the local paper with a friends picture

Why do peoples minds always go to the potty? That may be important for us but it is just a mark of acceptance of who we are. I get tired of that being such an issue even though i know it is. There are stalls in ladies rooms for heavens sake.

I think that the bathroom issue is a good way for the religious right to fight against transgender rights. It takes just a few of them to stir up others by presenting the issue as something that will let perverts and molesters into women's bathrooms. When they find that they can not use religion to prevent trans rights on employment and housing they can stir up a hornets nest with the bathroom issue.

hello my MP said the following about bill C-279

“The feedback I have got on this in Barrie has been adamantly against this bill,” Brown wrote in an e-mail after the issue was shelved earlier this week.

“I think we have more important things to deal with in Ottawa, like job growth, the economy and our social services.”

Job growth well sinse the conserviatives have been in power how many jobs left Canada and ended up in China. social services really until the Ontario government passed its bill last year i could be fired for being a transsexual woman. no health care ,housing and education. Mr Brown you listened to a small group of small minded realigious people

Another stall tactic. Putting people rights on hold is tantamount to letting us suffer.
