Officers Use State Database to Access Personal Info On Former Colleague

This occurred in the St. Petersburg area. That department seems to have a rather weak disciplinary standard for such misbehavior. In L.A., they would have gotten suspended. I do wonder, though, how a state license database would have contained a photo montage of her transition.

Depends on how often the licence got changed. In NY, if you get any info changed at the DMV rather than online, it means a new photo. This includes renewal, name changes, gender marker changes, etc.

It could also be the bureau that licenses security guards, since the trans-person had a new occupation.

Here in good old CA. I changed my name legally last July, and got a new photo. Two weeks ago I went in with my surgeons letter and changed my gender on my DL, and yes, another photo was taken. If I had a State ID card as well, I would have a photo for it as well. I only have a DL, but due to lost licenses and in-office renewal in 2011 when I was still basically male in picture. Oh well!!

When I was still working for the state, I did have access to the state DMV records, but to have used them for other than work purposes, and with an audit trail to boot would not have gotten me suspended, it would have gotten me out and out FIRED! I had to deliver a termination notice to two employees who did just that, and it was pretty horrible.

OK, a few opinions here girls, to see if I have this right. The questions;

1. Only the current picture of any drivers license is supposed to be accessable to anyone?
2. I am still in the middle of the legals, to do my name change and gender marker. I had thought I wanted a replacement license with a full en fem photo, even with my male info. This, as a hedge against anyone tracing back my DL to a nasty male picture?
3. Possible using the same en fem picture for the new female license, or a new en fem picture for the new female one?

Good plan, bad plan, save my money? The News Media loves nasty DL pictures to slam trans anyway. Just save my money on an en fem male license for now? They could not get to the old picture anyway? I really want my new mug on my card now though. I hate anyone to see him, when anyone needs to see my card.

My ex wife signed her document for my name change today with no problems. I am so relieved and will file with the Superior Court this week! Happy Jody

Congrats Jody. I'm still waiting for the FBI to get back to me for my criminal background check so I can file my petition of name change with the courts..

I'd just wait to update your photo until you have everything else taken care of at once and save the money and the energy of dealing with the DMV.. I haven't updated my drivers license in 5 years, I had a Rum cocktail while I was in Florida recently and the waitress gave me a long...hard...glare because I look nothing like my license picture. I was actually concerned she was going to accuse me of having a fake ID. I'll just get it all taken care of when I get my namechange/gender marker stuff taken care of.
