Ok I noticed that wen i do a girl voice and i lean my head back its REALLY hard 2 like talk, everytime i talk i sound like a guy. If I can get used 2 it that would improve my girl voice right? O_o Soooo should i do that or will it ruin my voice/throat? O_o

Voice training is tricky. There are a few postings on this topic already and a few recommended CD programs and DVD shows on how to do it. You can strain your voice, but I doubt you can ruin it permanently

CAUTION - I have been working on my girl vice for two months - it takes a lot of practice. So to answer your question I can only say what seems to work for me... and then it doesn't always work at all.

My girl voice seems to come out of a falsetto - and once you train your throat to fit that shape, you can refine the sound in pitch until it is real. The rest is learning to ennunciate and use a vocabulary like a woman does. Women actually sing out their sentences, using a wonderful lilt. Most sentences end upward like a question? They slightly clip the first sylable and draw out the last one. Esses are particularly stressed by women in speach, but not as a lisp. And it seems body language and gestures will convey as much as the actual voice, if done correctly. To speak like a female we have to essentually be female in mind and attitude. Women never declare, they suggest, or so I have been told?. Women rarely shorten words so do not do that (rather than don't do that).

Just a few observations?

Melanie Speaks - is a good place to google as she lists a lot of hints in her site. Stealth Productions is another. Transvoice(is that right?) has been mentioned.

So good luck to you...

The best tip that I heard (and remembered) was not to try to go for too high of a voice. In general most girl's voices are about a fifth higher than a male's. On a piano if you speack at a middle 'c' then you would ant to raise that to a 'g'. If you do not have a piano, try singing - starting on your normal speaking pitch and sing the scale, do, re, mi, fa, so - stop you are there. From this pitch you have room for the much wider range of inflections up and down. If like me, it's still to lowthen you can go for the octave because you have already built a base at a higher pitch.

Hope that helps,

Sally

I just got the software Deep Stealth which is suppose to work wonders(with lots of practice of course) so I am very interested to see how much of a different it will make after I start using it more and more(which trust me I will! :P ), I hate the way I sound now so anything to help me start sounding more and more feminine I am all about.

That's the one I use. I was using it in the cat (the DVD) and practicing 1 hr in and 1 hr out, commuting (which is hard because of the traffic noise). At first it semed impossible, but eventually, using the vowel exercises (pinched - breathy) I was able to get the spot in my throat and vocal chords. Its located in the back of the throat, and it takes training the muscles to keep it. It works well with the Melanie Speaks tapes although the two don't reference each other at all.

Its really a modified faulsetto that we lost when we went through pubetry and started using the male voice routinely. If you ever do cartoon voices you can reach the spot. Even if you don't have that talent, that's about where it is. I mickey mouse voice (not minnie mouse yet).

I am now using it to recite poetry to practice. It not going to be as perfect as the guide voice - but it is good. If you watched 'Sex Change Hospital" and heard Dr. Marci Bowers, (terrible name - hear Dr. Bowers was appauled) thats what I can do now. I have gone up in pitch about three notes over my upper most reach at first, but more importantly i can use a feminine speech pattern and presenttion now. That is helpful.

Yes - practice.

I finally can get female recognition on the telephone (use with telemarketers and people who don't know you.)

Good luck

Lizzy

Heehee :) I love my voice. If i ever stop procrstinating I'll put some wavs and stuff up :)

but baisically people think i'm my mother or sister, lol if they don't know i'm transitioning :)

My own brother even made the mistake!!!

Its the whispery resonance that make the difference... and my age :) the younger you are the easier it is "set" your voice as it were.

Also I have advanced vocal training ;)

be sure to reccord myself on a day off or something :)

Hugs peeps

I work on the front desk of a major hotel and since Ive started this process Ive been noticing women's voices. Most of the more mature women dont quite have the resonance y'all are talking about. For those of us who are basses, and taller in height we could get away with taking the hard edges off our voices.

By that I mean soften the voice so it looses resonance in a larger room, more like the voice you would use to speak to your sweety over a romantic dinner (from a male perspective). Its not the voice you want the next table to hear. I dont know how to explain it more than that, at 6'2 i would have an interesting time supporting a voice in the high tennor range considering its all I can do to get to the top of the bass register.

Heck I didn't even know they could go up that high! I just have a four burner and one to keep stuff warm. What kind of pies did you make?

That's all the matters.   Well me and the wife rode to Perkins for breakfast. As we were waiting for our food. Being it is Sunday There are a few gentleman in suits, my guess from church. I think to myself. I hope I never have to wear one of those monkey suits ever again. Now a nice dress maybe.   Hugs,   Kymmie

From time to time I've looked at 'Who Is Online" and I have consistently noticed that members are ALWAYS outnumbered by Guests by a wide margin, sometimes, like a minute ago, by more than a 10:1 margin.  I have never seen that before on an internet forum.  It can be explained partly by the nature of what this is, that it draws the curious and they are certainly welcome to read here, and to join, but it leaves me with a feeling of being in a fishbowl.  I wonder who ARE these people?  Donald Trump, is that you? Biden? Sinwar? Putin?  We can only guess.

So from time to time my brain gets a hold of information and puts it together with other information in weird way that get me thinking. I was reading about a nudes cruise that they are running out if Miami. It got me thinking that a transgendered person who is also a naturalist, has to be one of the most unlucky people alive. How does one manage that and does that ever come up? Not trying to make fun here, just genuinely curious. Things that make you go hmmmm....

No luck there, really. She's getting a signing bonus plus a little extra that I don't think would cover much in the way of the move, but it is something!   Oh my! I am glad to hear you're not passing anymore blood. I hope they figure it out soon! How distressing!   @April Marie @KymmieL @Mirrabooka @Willow @Justine76, thank you for the kind words and thoughts! We told our best friends last night. There were many tears. Now it's all about the work: selling the house (my wife's friend's son said he may want to buy it direct!), a job (a former employee of mine wants to bring me over to his company--and they're based outside of Tacoma!), and moving (just started going through what we don't want bring and donating things). So things have kicked off.   I'm not so sure of the job, it would be good to work with my former employee (he's great) but I fear the culture may not be super welcoming to someone like me--and the guy doesn't know I'm trans in any way. But I'll give it a shot as my authentic self and see what happens!

@LadypcnjI'm sorry. I know the feeling my mom thinks I'm going through a phase too although I didn't come out till April 17, 2023, so it was later in life. I was in denial majority of my life. I would love to hear more about this if you are comfortable sharing more of it.

I love fashion. I have over 100 dresses and 74 pairs of shoes. My walk-in closet is full of other clothes as well. I'm getting more shorts soon. SHEIN is awesome for quality and price. Just when you get a leather coat from them it's just the shell not the liner. Most of my shoes are from Torrid because I wear size 13 women's.

Unfortunately Oklahoma is about as bad as Texas but definitely not as bad as Florida. Especially as a minor!

I'm sorry @Ladypcnj I can only sympathize with you on that. Therapist on the other hand is crazy. I have had 16 in 10 years. It sucks having to have to go over things. I will say though after 6 therapists I didn't have to explain my history they simply read the history.

I followed you and will give you my advice when I can. It has happened to me a lot too. If you want to you can always message me and I'll get back to you ASAP. I understand your concerns.
