The Very First Trans 100 List

This is supposed to become an annual event recognizing 100 particularly influential and active transgender persons. The full list was released today. I'm sure there are many more who could have been on there and might be on there in the future.

To quote from the release: "Trans 100 represents an effort, which will hopefully be reflected across the LGBT community, to breakdown implicit (and explicit) transphobia in media coverage by highlighting the diversity of trans Americans."

Hi Liz,

I'm not surprised to see two Seattle stalwarts among the list, Marsha Botzer has been instrumental in the writing of the WPATH, but also is to be credited for many of the laws that make this state and city the most trans-friendly place in the country. And Ryan Blackhawke is also as active here. I was looking to see if his wife was mentioned since she's the third part of the core of the Ingersoll Gender Center here in Seattle.

I've met a few others who have been in town on occasion. And, could think of a few more names to add as well, perhaps good runners-up.

Anyway, reading up and down the list, there are some incredible people there. Our leaders have opened many doors for us, earned my undying gratitude and respect.

I have met several of the people on that list and am very pleased that I have. I noticed that they started out with 500 folks in the early nominations. WOW I could have used a list like this years ago, just on the numbers game to know others were like me and I was not as alone as I felt.
