Shoes... again!

Ok, so I know my sizing charts pretty well and I know that I'm a size 12 women's shoes. However, when I was in Miami these past two weeks, I went out to find a nice pair of booties (of course since they aren't in season it's hard to find them). I did manage to find a pair, but they didn't come in my size (no shocker there because I'm a size 12 women's and in Miami... well, everyone is Cuban and therefore short).

So I was just wondering, are there stores (or better yet brands) that sell size 12 booties that anyone can recommend? I'm looking for hopefully an in store purchase, but if I must order online I'm willing. Obviously it goes without say that it would have to be something that is affordable; say around 60 dollars tops! Any suggestions would be more than welcome and greatly appreciated!

p.s., I have already searched through the dsw online store to no avail. :( I'll try searching through again, but I know there are no guarantees.

I'd try barefoottess.com. They have LOTS of shoes in larger women's sizes. I've got a pair from there and love em.

I appreciate the link however, skimming around the shop for a bit I've found that things tend to be on the pricy side. :\ I'm only a student so I don't quite have the means to buy shoes over 60 dollars unfortunately. Thanks for trying at least! :)

I'm still looking for a nice pair of booties too.

The Payless at the mall here carries up to a size 13. Not a great selection, but you never know you could get lucky.

Hi Velanna.

Online, Zappos has a bunch on sale sub $60, Romantic Soles Brand.

Oh, and Kay, they claim they are vegan friendly too! I had to google what the heck vegan leather was though? :)

Ooh! I'm checking out Zappos and I gotta say they have a great selection (and a vast one) of boots and booties! Thanks for the suggestion, it's really great! I'll definitely be spending quite a while sifting through their selections! Haha!

I've always been a big advocate of eBay. They almost always have some interesting selections to choose from. Prices are usually good if you don't mind buying second hand. I too wear a womens size 12 so some of the shoes and boots advertised look really great but don't fit :-( eBay usually has something nice, whether it be heels, flats or boots. I personally love ballet flats or sometimes with a slight heel to them.

But yeah, check them out.

I'll second the reccomendation for eBay. A plus is that there isn't a huge demand for size 12+ shoes, so you can get some great deals. I've found at least a few pairs of nice (albiet used) shoes for ~ $20-25.

The thing that worries me about eBay is that there is always the chance of getting something from someone you know personally, like a family member or someone. I suppose this is less of an issue in a big country like the US. Generally I am not very good at deflecting awkward questions although others may deal with it better. Statistically the chance of it happening in the first place is small, but it's potentially serious if it does happen.

Another thing with eBay is you don't have much control over when things arrive. Whenever I have bought clothes or shoes online, I have always chosen next day delivery and I get it sent to my dads. That way I know it will definitely arrive at his tomorrow. If I choose standard delivery, it might come tomorrow if I am lucky, or it might come the day after that, or the day after that, or the day after that... From a practicality point of view it is better for the items to come quickly or on a nominated date. With eBay you are usually stuck with however the seller chooses to dispatch the items and how quickly they do so. If your circumstances aren't ideal, this could be something to consider.

You know? I actually had that sort of problem before. My roommate, who doesn't know that I started my transition yet, was wondering why I had several pairs of womens shoes. The easy answer I gave was that I buy and sell a LOT on ebay and it just so happens that womens shoes are a hot commodity and sell really well. Not exactly the truth, but not a lie either since I do actively buy and sell a lot on ebay.

As for the wait time, it's a game of patience. You can go to the local store and hope that they have something you like in your size to purchase immediately, or you can have a much larger selection to choose from but you have to wait a couple of weeks to get it. I personally prefer the latter as I like options.

I personally have spent so much of my life shopping online that I much prefer going to the store and buying stuff instantly. :) Fortunately my shoe size is an average enough womens size that I dont have a lot of problem finding things in my size. Online is definitely better if you want the maximum level of options though though I do not usually buy things through Ebay I haven't in years and years either. I usually prefer actual online stores.

The only major problem I have with buying at a store is if they have my size for the specific bootie I want. I think I'll have better luck in Orlando than I did in Miami because like I mentioned in the original post, Miami has a lot of short people. The average height for women in Miami, I would say is around 5'4-5'5. Most places only go up to shoe size 11, but if they have a shoe size 12 section it's very limited and there aren't a lot of shoes to choose from. But I have a feeling that Orlando, since the people here are taller (plus the fact that there's a TON of tourism year round) I'm sure they'll have bigger shoe sizes and more variety for that size! That's why before I make a purchase online (which I already decided that if I make an online purchase it'll be the Christin Michaels vintage Jassie booties in black from zappos) I want to check actual stores just in case I find something! Especially if I find something cheaper than the online shoes I already found! I don't want to rush anything, but my 21st birthday is in about a month and I want to have these booties by then! So it's all just looking around for me! Then again, when ISN'T it just looking around when it comes to clothing and shoes? lol

Good morning    On this date in 1972 it was a Saturday. I  made a pledge to love and honor my wife and keep her forsaking all others.  I have kept those vows and here we are celebrating our 52nd anniversary still together.  Still caring for each other through sickness and in health.  Still sharing our lives.   Other than that, it’s another day near the beach.  80 and mostly sunny.     I found a ‘17 GMC Acadia yesterday I want to take a look at.  It’s a bit more than I wanted to spend but it’s doable. Only 69k miles on it, with the low mileage I put on cars these days it probably won’t ever hit 100k if I do beget it.  Low mileage now is  likely because it was a leased car at some point. Those usually get pretty good care and not a lot of miles.  It would be similar in size to my Ford, 7 passenger seating but a more basic trim which is fine.  It only has a 4 cyl engine so potentially rather under powered for a relatively large SUV.  The ford has a 4.0liter 6 which is a bit large for cars these days.  Instead of full time all wheel drive, it apparently has 4 modes, 2, 4, sport (what ever that is, I presume it’s over drive turned off) and anti slip.  It’s probably not going to happen but I am keeping my eyes open for a good deal. The old Ford is just that, an old worn out Ford.  Since I bought the Ford I’ve only put about 10k miles on it in 6 years.  My daughter once had an Acadia, top trim package.  When she was driving back and forth to work close to 100 miles per day and going to Philadelphia every week another 500 or more.  For her the miles added up fast.   still keeping my eyes open.  This is about the right age and size but I was hoping to spend about $2000 less.   Other than that I hope to meet with my minister today about paper topics for my class submission.   Other than that Monday is laundry day so I’ll be doing several loads of laundry today.     I put on a neutral gel nail polish last night.  I tried this before, however, I don’t believe I correctly understood the how to get a good result so I was more careful this time.  All I want it’s to give my bpfinger nails enough strength to grow out just a little and stop tearing.   Well, I need to call to make an urology appointment.   @Birdiei was born in Ohio and until Lamda Legal sued them you could not get a sex change on a birth certificate for any reason.  Now you can.  In South Carolina a name change requires $300 and a form filled out and filed with the clerk of courts.  But a gender change requires a birth certificate with the new gender listed.  I am hoping they will permit gender X eventually but right now the state is too Red to do any such thing.   Willow

I have the problem, that I see myself at 3 maybe 4 on the list. I don't have the self love that I should have.   What does it mean to you?   Kymmie

Seems the stuffy day-centre has swapped out Psychiatric Services and therapy to the local BSA hospital. BSA works closely with the local university and is much more gender accepting than the day-centre. The day-centre's psychiatrist wanted to treat me for gender dysphoria by correcting it. 🙄   I logged into MyChart app at the hospital and updated my preferred name (Birdie) and preferred gender marker for them to use.  I'll try and get a referral for gender therapy at the hospital as well.    Nevada is my place of birth and I found out changing the gender marker on my birth certificate there only requires a letter from a licensed therapist, but a name change still requires a court order.    Changing the gender marker to female would at least be one step in the right direction, then I could renew my ID to state female instead.

Well today by attention wise was downright horrible. My legs can't stay still, can't focus on a project, my mind wanders around a lot, constantly fidgeting, easily distracted, couldn't even tell you what the sermon was about but there was vine on the altar and attention to detail sucks. I have read that it is possible to have BPD and ADHD. My mind even wanders during prayer. If I have both I won't be able to take Adderall because it makes my BPD symptoms worse. I keep having side effects that come up from my 3 traumatic brain injuries.

If it wasn't so *EVIL*, I would have to laugh.  Everyone knows that trans women in particular have such an overwhelming superiority in poetry that the competition would be unfair if they were allowed to enter.  You can't make this stuff up!   Seriously, sorry for making light of it.  But it is only by highlighting the utter absurdity of this kind of crap, whether it occurs in Russia or Florida, that I am able to hang on to any shred of sanity.

I used to fully agree with this statement, that is, until the first lockdown   Everyone I knew around me was affected by the pandemic. they couldn't work. they couldn't see their friends. they felt bored/ frustrated they couldn't get out of the house   and then there was me who welcomed it, because for once in my life, I didn't feel like a loser- and after lockdown, when everyone looked forward to going back to work or going out, well.. I had nothing- and I felt that no, I wasn't normal because I didn't have a life to get back to
