The other day I was bored and as often happens when I'm at a loose end and 'schlepping' around the house in my mules and co. my attention drifts to my feet and then the thought pops in 'I know let's see what colours go best with my mood, the new carpet, the'... well whatever I use as an excuse for getting the 'paint box' out and so a happy hour or so is spent carefully building up the paint and lacquer finish - currently sporting a basic pearl with gold glitter lacquer top coat - I only paint my toenails if'n I'm going bare legged or nowadays bare foot (in mules sandals and the like of course) I am quite a fan of footless tights and those cropped leggings currently.

Any way my question is this girls:

Do you agree with my feeling that it is not a thing to do to have painted toenails under nylon and such or am I just being old fashioned?

You see long long ago when Michelle was young and.... well let's just settle for young shall we?!

It was considered a bit 'common' to have one's toes painted and not be bare footed.

I do know that times change and attitudes change and such. The prevalence of tattoo and other body art is a prime example of the changes over this girl's life.

I am not being judgemental just wanting to know prevailing girl thought on this.

I always use clear nail varnish on my toes, stockings or no. Love the shiny clear look to them. I've never tried colour although I have a nice range I bought to try out!

My feeling is - do what suits you!

My toenails have been painted for years. Doesn't matter if anyone sees them or not. Haven't done them in a while though, so they need a refresh ;)

If it is cold and i need to wear stockings or socks i just wear shoes with toes as well so it has never been an issue. If i was in a nice set of heels and dressed as for a party or work i wouldn't care if my toes shined through. My mom might have but then again her toes were not usually painted and mine are. I get mine done at the salon and don't want to remove as i'm too cheap to do it to often.

I love painting my toe nails, but don't get to show them off as often as I would like since I haven't gotten to the point of RLT. Therefore, as I pen this thread I have my toe nails painted pink covered by socks and shoes. Oh well, what's a girl to do. :(

Hi Sophia,

Smile quietly to herself and look forward to applying a nice sparkly lacquer finish to them as soon as the socks are off!

Hi Eve,

I could have guessed that you would go for the refined option! I always try to have my nails all polished at least... but doing the boy stuff plays havoc with a girls ambitions!

Hi Charlie,

I certainly wouldn't class getting one's nails done professionally as cheap! gosh envy button on ..... now! right... button off! Of course a girl must always avoid getting cold feet!

Hi Kaylee,

I am quite sure you have changed the paint often! (giggle!) I was also minded to ask do any of you have patterns and such to your nails? I have seen some really impressive professional jobs. But have had to forego the, what I would imagine as thrilling experience due to 'wimpiness' and my current clandestine lifestyle as if I had such work done there would be nothing for it but to wave my hands at all and sundry! lol

Lnk

to all you painted girls out there!

Yes I paint my toenails and fingernails. Hopefully should warm up soon. 60 F here for a high today, not exactly open toe sandal weather. But soon will be able to see my bright pink toenails

Hi Janet,

I think that a nice bright pink would go really well with the lavender/purple shade of your dress in your picture!.

Love painting my toenails, still not the best at it but getting better, getting to your question, I actually like the look of painted nails under stockings/pantyhose, but like everyone else here, it's all about personal preference.

Hi Charlotte,

Yes it always is, what I find to like about the times we are living in now is that; less and less does the 'what other people thinks of one' syndrome control one's life style choices. It seems more to me about if it does no harm and it makes me happy why not? Would that our societies were more open and honest when I was young and so vulnerable.... Gosh deep stuff for the subject of toe painting! I was referring to my comment that one may have wanted to paint one's toes then wear stockings but one didn't because of the fear of other judgemental folk thinking one was 'common' and now it is looked upon as 'their problem not mine' and that is what I like, at last I think we are staggering to a time of a healthier outlook and a grown - up attitude to 'self' at last. See! you fly the flag for freedom of thought even by painting your toes and then wearing stockings girls!

I have always painted my toe nails, I try to give them a break once and awhile but I always seem to find a reason to paint them again.

Hi Stefie,

First of all, welcome to the playground. I hope that you find this site as rewarding and helpful as I have.

I for one don't need much of a reason to paint....... just time!

Mine are orange at the moment which i like. My old school colors are orange and black and i might have to get black tips next time. I last had them done for a LGBT conference at the University. That was so nice. Both the nails and the conference. Amazing how accepting things have gotten in 40 years. From being afraid of death to open orange toes!

Hi all,

I'm into a new addiction I think! Having discovered the wonder of the er... wifi hotspot? is that it? anyhoo... I am now doing this from my car! (I am in a service station by the way not hurtling down the M1!)

I know you internet gurus will think it all old hat but for an old girl like me who started out communicating ship to ship by flags semaphore and flashing lights...... wow! I feel a new topic around the corner .... unfortunately not as nice as the girly toe painting tho! giggle!

Hi Charlie,

Sorry getting carried away with the tekkie thing...... This is more interesting orange and black would be quite daring and I would love to see your 'Bumble Bee toes!' you must post a picture if'n you ever do it! It occurred to me that perhaps you went to Hogwarts in Gryffindor House! but that's er scarlet and gold isn't it? Motherwell's colours? I am sure one of our soccer girls will correct me if'n I'm wrong!

This remote access thingy is really great it mean's that I can carry you all with me when I'm walkabout! except for Darkest Yorkshire! there it is again 'den, den, den, den, daaaah! I definitely heard it that time! When I said Darkest Yorkshire it definitely did! there again I'm certain this time! Oh for those girls who haven't a clue what I'm wittering on about.. Darkest Yorkshire (there I'M sure now!) is where my aged loved one lives and it is in a broadband dead spot sob! but what's a girl to do the house was built in the 1600's and I suppose they didn't think about internet access back then .... bit short sighted if'n you ask me!

Keep painting those toes girls!

LnK

Michelle

I just had a thought..... go on someone is going to tell me what I am doing actually costs a small fortune aren't you?! well I think you are all worth it! so there! LnK M

I haven't painted my toenails since I was six year old, I knew I wanted to be a girl at that young age. I would love to paint my toe nails again, I think I would go for a red or pink colour. I am not keen on the idea of wearing painted toe nails underneath my tights, I like the look of a panty hosed foot with a tailored toe and prefer to have unvarnished toes. I think my feet look pretty enough anyway.

I always have a light pink covered with Hard as Nails on toes and fingers. I do love to appy color so I can admire and wiggle wiggle my toes. Love to see them peeking out of my sandles. I usually do them when I going out femmed up. As it is now summer here in Florida and I wear slides every day I have to remove the color as family and friends still haven't met Wendae. At my age I could care less about "convention" when wearing painted toes. With or without hose whats the diff?

Trans Group Zoom Meeting Tomorrow!!   It’s almost time for another Zoom Meet-up and I’m sure it’ll be another entertaining time to get together with others from our community. As usual, these meeting can last up to 4 hours or longer. Come when you can and leave whenever you want. The start times are listed below.   If you need a Zoom Link, Message me as soon as possible as I will be gone early all day tomorrow (Sat.). I will PM you a link here before I leave for the day tomorrow. See you all next week.   Have Fun! Susan R🌷   From Zoom Host AllieJ: We had 15 at our last zoom of April, with great discussions as usual. When there are this many people attending, we have to be a little stricter with keeping our talking time short and watching for hands up so everybody can contribute. Best is to use the electronic ‘Raise Hand’ so it is more visible.    Trans Group Zoom Meeting Times: May 4, 2024 6:00 PM Pacific Time May 4, 2024 8:00 PM Central Time May 5, 2024 11:00 AM Australia/Melbourne

Wow, Birdie, I hope you get better soon.  At least the nurses figured out that you're not their standard patient.  Hopefully they treat you right.     I wish my husband would replace our stoves.  Of course we use propane, being way out of town, but they're old.  They are supposed to use a battery igniter, but one hasn't worked in years.  There's actually a hole sawed in the bottom plate of the oven where I stick a match.  And the other one had some sort of valve problem, and couldn't get the parts.  I was hoping for a new stove, but I got to watch in awe and dismay as my husband made a "something" with a piece cut from a roll of bulk automotive gasket material.  It works, no leaks.  But I swear we don't replace anything here until it is absolutely dead.  With my luck, that will be another 20 years on those stoves.      I don't complain much, but I wish I had some nicer kitchen things.  Nobody understands that if I'm serving dinner for 36 people, cooking on sheetmetal plates or using stuff from a 1980s junkyard is a bit....suboptimal.  When I mention it, I get lengthy apocalyptic tales of the deprived life in Argentina or Mexico or "In Soviet Union, stove cooks you..."  Thanks, GF.  Or maybe I'm just too spoiled?

I do the best I can to 'Pass' and I think I have become better at feminizing my appearance ... But, I have also come to realize that no matter how much I feel I pass, it's more up to the individual I interact with than with my efforts and appearance. If they are self-aware humans they will see me as I truly am ... and then I will receive a compliment, or a 'Ma'am', or just a friendly smile.  That's all I really need.

In my case, at almost 9 months, most changes have been very subtle. I was 60 when I started, and overweight. Also, I am not very observant when it comes to changes. In the last 3 months I have been on T blockers and breast growth have definitely started having suffered irregular "ouchies", but at the same time I have been slowly losing fat, so Bust measurements have not changed. What has changed in the density, I can feel a difference. Face wise the skin feels softer, and my lashes seem to be more visible. Head hair regrowth is a maybe- maybe not situation.  I do have to select men's clothing carefully to camouflage the change in breast shape. I guess I'm still at the not passable as a female stage especially with no makeup. I'm also over 6 foot and well over 100kgs which I guess is problematic to start with!   Hope this helps somewhat   Kate .

I started feminizing HRT about 6-7 weeks ago. I began with what I called the beginner's patch. I immediately found myself wanting to level up to the next dose and did that this week (yay!). So far, I am enjoying the ride.   I've read everything I can find on this topic. For the HRT vets on here, what is reasonable to expect in terms of physical changes for someone starting in their 50s? I know "your mileage may vary." I guess I am curious if I stay on my current trajectory for six months, a year, multiple years, how pronounced will the physical changes be? Will I reach a point where it is totally obvious or will I land in a "middle zone" somewhere in which I could pass either way?   Thanks! Like I said I am enjoying the ride so far and always curious to know others' experiences. Not sure anyone else in my life will be excited about these moves I am making, but I have been over that in many places on here already so need to rehash... Love and blessings to all!   Easy

Being admitted into the hospital after a long ER visit. I started passing lots of blood and they are keeping me for observation.    Nurse came in to see about a condom catheter, that of course doesn't work on me. 🤣   She said, "I guess we will use incontinence supplies on you."

Yeah.  I think this is what it is about.  Since they are not transgender, nobody else could possibly be either.  I'm not sure that a cisgender person can understand being transgender.  But that hardly means that a transgender person's experience is not real - just because it is not theirs. Why is a transgendered person's experience not valid, while a cisgendered person's is?  Why should it be the cisgendered person that decides? Nobody is forcing a cis person to transition.  What I do for myself is my own business.

Decided to head for Lowes after work early and bought a new stove. Was in stock and put it back of my truck.Luckily a neighbor of mine whom does appliance repair did come to remove the connection and convert the stove to natural gas in the new one.Was set up for propane.Happy with it and the scrap metal guy came to pick up my old one.He was happy to get it,said he needed one more to make it a load in his trailer full of junk appliances

I've been thinking it is a matter of belief.  They simply do not believe someone can validly be transgender and should not be allowed to practice their beliefs, but should be forced to practice their belief, that is, that there is no such thing as transgender and it is all mental illness/sin/hormonal imbalance.
    • KatieSC
I am really kind of sick of everybody who is not transgender deciding on what we need and do not need in the way of procedures. They act like all of this is play acting, and we can just apply cosmetics to our entire body. It might be refreshing if someone asked us directly what services we need in order to transition. I could say more as I am frustrated, but I do not want to violate the TOS.
