Questions About T And Binding

Guest Draik

Recommended Posts

I'm only 15 but I want T because I was reading and 15 is around the age that guys voices get deeper and stuff so I figure that if I get T I would be caught up with other guys my age so:

How old do you have to be to get T?

Do You think it would be a good Idea to get T now?

Another thing about T is that I want to grow a little bit more so I figure that if I take T now I might get taller and I'll have surgery when I'm 16 or 17 because I heard you can't get it till you stop growing.

Questions about binding:

What are good brands?

How Do you know what size to get?

I check out T kingdom but I saw someone on youtube who was really unhappy about something they bought there.

Anyway, thanks ahead of time. I hope I'm not being too impatient about the whole thing.

Well, maybe you are a little impatient. See, you don't just get T....it's a dangerous substance and your first order of the day is to see a good gender therapist to see where you really are in this big picture. After a while on T..there's no turning back....

If you and the therapist decide (you decide, they guide) then you need to be under a doctor's care while taking the T to monitor you and make sure all is ok....

There's a lot to think about here, Hon....please be careful...

Please don't be cross with me...I care and I'm just trying to help you, OK?

Thanks......

It would be a "great" idea if you could get someone to prescribe you at 15. The truth is even in the very best of circumstances and with your parents cheering you on and twisting the doctors arm you will still be hard pressed to find a doc who'll precribe it to someone 15. Its called L-I-A-B-I-L-I-T-Y. That doesn't mean "forget it" it just means know the type of odds. Without your folks cheering and twisting arms best advice is make plans and do the prep work so that when you're of age you can pursue your intentions. IN THE MEANTIME stick with that therapist and make sure they're versed in gender issues. If they're not seek another. Also there's so much to do in the areas of coming out, family adjustments, plans for college as a peson transitionsing, passing, getting that binder (do you see where I'm going with this?) that you have plenty to attend to in the meantime.

Plus you still have to work out if you really are ready to be sterile from now until death. Thats actually one of the prime reasons not to prescribe during adolescence. The patient tends to become permanently sterile. And if you wait ?Yes, I realize "the pregnant transman" had a kid but at great risk. Not to him. To the kid. A risk that is yet to be seen since the kid hasn't grown up yet. Once you start T those eggs will NEVER (I don't care if you use them or not) "be the same" again. And then there's surgery. If you plan to pursue it theres a matter of making sure you have a means to afford it or appropriate insurance. As I said theres a lot to work out. Think about it.

As for binders, check out Underworks if you're not likin what you heard about Tkingdom. They also tell you how to size it.

Lotta stuff and info on the internet. BE CAREFUL!

It VERY dangerous to push too fast.

Listen to DJ and Evan - I know we sound like parents or something, but we aren't. We are transgender just like you are and have seen stuff - and heard stuff - and know stuff. Laura - owner of this site has been severely dibilitated by the wrong hormones - JUST be patient, it's gonna come your way.

PLEASE-PLEASE-PLEASE!

I've already done all that. Everyone in my family(at least everyone that I see or talk to on a regular basis) already knows I'm trans and are okay with it, I'm only 15 so I think I have a little time before I think about college, I pass and live as a guy 100% (or as much as the law will let me without transitioning), getting a binder won't take that long, and I'm completely alright with being sterile. I have no desire whatsoever to have children.

My therapist says I need to be more social because I've practically isolated myself but how can I be comfortable around people If i'm not comfortable with myself? I don't think I can. I know T and stuff isn't going to magically change everything but it would help. I've done pretty much everything I can do in regards to transitioning that doesn't require a doctor so I don't know what else to do besides looking into the more permanent stuff.

Why don't you stop whining and start listening to some folks that have taken a few laps around the block. The people that are offering heartfelt advice aren't doing it because you're a fifteen yr. old who seems to know more than anyone else,a nd holds his breath in the corner till he gets his way. they and all of us are advising you because they care for your e health and well being.

So start listening and stop acting like you have all the answers and start asking dead end questions that only leads to controversy.. Tough love hugs,,,,Mia.

I got harassed about 'well you're still young to do this..are you SURE?.. YOU SURE???' and I'm five years older then you. Doctors and people are strict about younger people starting even if its better to start younger. I know its annoying and sort of backwards but that seems how the system works.

Just take it slow and do stuff in the meantime as others have said.

I'm whining? What am I whining about? I'm asking serious questions about moving ahead with my transition. I'm not acting like I know all the answers or trying to start controversy. I just was just trying to see what people thought. Obviously that was the wrong thing to do because all your doing is making assumptions about me. Sorry but your "tough love" isn't helping. Unless you have constructive advice, don't post.

Yeah, they'll tell you that till you're nauseous :P Theres a point, I realize this, but don't worry about the fact that they're tellin you to do it instead just hang out with us and work your way into bein social in realtime.

<--thinks this thread needs to be returned to the subject of T and binders.

Its actually not a bad idea to read through the teen forum for FtM experiences in gender therapy and even look up some the teen members who've posted here if you want to hear some "what happened to me"'s .

As one of my friends use to say. "Love, peace and chicken grease!" I'm not sure what the chicken grease was for or where the quote came from but I thought it would lighten the mood.

<--Is convinced that where there's chicken grease there's probably chicken.

Seriously though Draik, you should also think about working out your body as a "preparatory" thing too. Besides the socializing, once you do get close to getting HRT they'll be all over you for it. Not only to make sure you have enough muscle mass to ward off conversion but also in anticipation of whats on the bottom half of your body wanting to move to your stomach. ALSO you want to work out so your top surgery looks better. The key is STAY AWAY FROM EXERCISES DEVELOPED FOR CHICKS. Seriously, you don't want to "tone and shape" (you know that line, the one they give the womens aroebics class) you want to bulk and build. Its all about the V shape B) Believe it when I tell you if I had known then what I know now I would have started the working out two years ago BEFORE I got on T or anything else so that I would be better built since once you DO start T you likely will start planning and getting surgeries and once you do you can't work out. Case and point; I had surgery 3weeks ago and the recovery time is 6 to 8 weeks. Thats a MINIMUM of 6 weeks of feeling like my short span of improvement goes to pot. As soon as the 8 weeks are up. I (I hope) will only have maybe 8 weeks to work out again before getting ready for -youguessed it- another surgery. Thats a lot of loss of progress if you haven't had tons of progress to start with.

Write it on your "to do" list. "Buy weights" or dumbbells or join a gym. (Your doc is going to be specific "weight bearing" exercise)

I would like to introduce myself. I am gender fluid, which make it difficult to describe myself at any given point in time.  I have many interests: Drawing, Interior Decorating, Floral Arrangements, Seasonal Decorating, Home Improvement & Repair, Fishing, Electronics, Fiber Optics, PC Repair and configuration, Networking, Cooking, Sewing, Soldering, Auto Repair, gaming and Crafting are amongst my most cherished attributes.   I am happily married with 5 kids.  I simply wish to make aquaintences & friends with like minded individuals.  I often cross dress in private.  Because I'm fluid i teeter between masculine & feminine.  This is difficult as only my wife knows and the kids don't.    I am happy to meet you all

Welcome to Transgender Pulse Forums @Madelyn Rain   I'm very late in life and in a slow transition. I'm out to my wife, grown children and my siblings, their support ranges from reluctant to total denial of my existence. Several are totally onboard with my transition. As for my medical and therapeutic care team... I'm out and started my conversation as they have known me from the start. Manly, just starting the transition. As I've proceeded along the transition trail, my mannerisms and speech have taken on a lighter tone. I have not started any real voice feminizing yet.    My recommendation is to just go in honestly and be your comfortable self.   Best wishes,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

It’s a “wedge issue”, used as a way of forcing other things quietly while making a big deal out of something that impassions others. Trans issues “stuck” when the Right threw all sorts of social strategies at the wall, it clicked with the base and now we’re here. Who doesn’t want to “protect the children”, right?   As far as fascism goes, we’re on our way with either party but it’s not a hard guess which party gets us all the way there the fastest. Frankly, I see the Left dogged by politics of conscience. The war in Israel, the status quo of Wall Street, the perpetual increase in the wealth divide, and what little is being done on the environmental front are all indicators of capitalism guiding policy and the voter base of the Left is not impressed.   The Right is dogged by (or been sold into) a persecution complex, religious or otherwise, and it has made them afraid and angry. But! A lot of the issues that cause that fear are very similar, if not the same, on the Left (see wealth divide, see Wall Street, etc.). Weaponized religion is a big difference between the voting blocks and it’s being used to create insidious identity politics. Politics like that are why the party of “freedom” wants to control who people are. Why? Because God said so.    As for the OP, everyone knows the far right agenda isn’t a grass roots cause. It’s not surprising that there is big money and croneyism at work. In fact, I’ll bet the average MAGA voter would cheer it on. Grab ‘em by the pus-pocketbook! They’re the little guys in this and they need those “few” people to do god’s work with their “hard-earned” wealth.

Hiya, I’m about to be going to my appointment to set up hrt. I have spoken with my dr about it briefly in the past, but stopped being part time and went into deep masking essentially… Now that I have decided to actually start transitioning medically I feel pressure to be a certain way which I know I shouldn’t. I searched to see if someone else had asked this question but didn’t see it posted, so sorry if it’s been asked.    Did you dress femme and or use a femme voice for your appointment to discuss starting hrt? I still feel so manly in the way I look, so I just feel so… awkward about it all. Like to mask or not to or idk uggh so unsure how to feel about it as I’m totes not ashamed of who I am but insecure about looking manly. I have a femme “baby face” but am not too tall but broad and more on the muscular side. Not saying these things take away from being a woman, just they are my insecurities.   thank you,   Madelyn Rain

This stuff gets complicated.  Capitalism replaced Feudalism…  You get enclosures, Highland clearances, the communal village culture disrupted.  Was it good?  Or was it bad?  Kinda depends on your point of view.   But I guess this is another topic.
    • Ivy
Seems like it.  But I think a lot of current "conservative" thinking is the idea of going back to earlier social mores and enforcing such. "Conservatives" seem fine with coercing others to conform to their ideals.
    • Ivy
I see the corporations controlling the government, largely through campaign contributions.   As for leftist, almost any cooperation has a socialistic component.  It doesn't need to be controlled by the government.  I see some elements of your own situation as socialist in a sense.  I suspect we have a different understanding of these things. Some people see "anarchism" as simply local control.  Radical left?  IDK.

The truth is that there's no unbiased media. Even if someone tries real hard to show both sides of the issue and remain unbiased in their presentation, their own opinions are bound to influence the piece in some way. That's simply writing, really, but it's a real pain when it comes to news of current events. It seems everyone takes one extreme or the other, and a lot of people don't even seem to be trying to hide their bias in the news nowadays. That's a problem regardless of political party.   Going completely in any one direction is a bad idea, really. The point of a two-party (or more, really) system is that multiple types of people are represented and have someone speaking up in a way they agree with. Both sides have both faults and virtues, and that's why there's both conservatives and liberals, as well as people who might be fluid between the two sides depending on the issue.     Eh, I have to politely disagree. Fascism would also mean a lot of control over things like media, and we have plenty of media outlets who will openly criticize the government based on who's in power. There's also other freedoms in our current system that would go against a Fascist philosophy. Plus, there's plenty of corporations that actively try to avoid government interventions like regulations via methods like labor outsourcing.    Also, kinda unrelated, but I've never gotten the idea of conservative support of anti-trans policy? I mean, that's more government control over healthcare, which seems kinda anti-conservative in philosophy. Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, but to my understanding of conservative philosophy, wouldn't the more truly conservative view be to leave it to offices themselves similar to how you would leave businesses to regulate what and how they provide a good/service?

And I suppose that NPR and CNN are "fair and balanced...."  I guess its all a matter of perspective, but here we literally listen to NPR as a comedy station.  As in, WHAT PLANET do these folks live on????  So much of what is presented seems totally nuts.    There's no shortage of big money funding the Left.  George Soros, Bill Gates, the Walton family....  If they support the "climate" agenda in any way - leftist.  If they support "gun control" in any way - leftist.  If they support UNESCO, anything else from the UN, electric vehicles, vaccination, funding public universities, etc....  you get the picture.  There's a heck of a lot of leftism going on if you just listen for the buzzwords on radio and tv.  And it seems like a large portion of big corporations are using those words.   What was the original idea of Fascism?  Corporations working hand-in-hand with a government that controls basically everything.  Doesn't seem too different from what is going on today, except that we have two parties involved.

The only reason I tried Tetris, was some of my younger kids had a gameboy I had younger coworkers playing packman when we took breaks at convenience stores.  I never could get into it.  I do remember the old pinball machines in the gas stations though
    • awkward-yet-sweet
Everybody used to live that way, but not everybody is adapted to every climate.  I would be fine living like that, really.  My GF... well she'd be alive but I'm not sure about everybody around her.   If the house isn't super cold, she becomes difficult to deal with.  And the hotter it is outside, the colder she wants it inside.  Even the light bothers her, so she prefers areas without windows.  She'll work outdoors on projects, but when she's done sometimes she's bleeding from the corners of her eyes.  Her normal body temperature is also really cold.  For her, 95.7 to 96.2 is normal, and sometimes in the winter she can be as low as 92 while still appearing normal.  Arctic creature, I guess... Me, I'm fine with lower temperatures as long as I'm active.  But when I sleep, I get cold easily.
