crippled

you can smile

while grazing on flowers in my field

you can lie

without forgetting how to feel

the reasons why

the sword thrust into your shield

you're too shy

emotions don't agree to deals

you can't fly

without wings your fate is sealed

still, you're too high

will the ground ever touch your heel

I'm really struggling right now in life. I feel like a bird without wings that finds itself way up in the sky in a freefall, not knowing what to do.

Emily,

I hate to see you feeling this way.

Being in a freefall is bad, but I can try to help pull you out of it. Sned me a PM if you would like to talk.

Like the sky divers say - the fall isn't that bad - it's the sudden stop at the end that'll get you.

I'm offering you my reserve chute!

Love ya,

Sally

Those wings are there - you have always had them - look to see if you can't get them to work.

NEVER GIVE IN - NEVER GIVE UP

And the poetry is so very good! How we can be so sad and so ... creative... at the same time, has always been a mystery to me

We love you dear

a free fall

yep!

that says it for me too...

when you mentioned a wingless bird

i thought of a thing i saw about humbolt penguins

they live in southern Chile

and from the rocky beaches they climb up some of the steepest mountains on earth

to a high altitude desert through cactus and all to make their nests

then every day they go back to the ocean to get fish for their mate and the chicks

on the way they have to stumble over hundreds of sealions

sealions eat penguins

and then to the sea for fish and back through the sealions up the mountain through the desert

and do it again the next morning

i don't know what that has to do with your poem

except this

the penguins of course can't fly

but in the water

they can swim better than any of the other birds can fly

so i guess if you're in a free fall

aim toward water?

if there's something profound here

i've missed it

just remember you're not alone
