Bicycling and hrt

So looks like I will be starting hormones in about a month. Which I am very ,very excited about.

However I worried about riding my bike while on hrt. I've done some web searches and come up with very little. I plan on talking this over with my doctor, but I wanted some anecdotal info from any girls who rode seriously during the beginning of hrt.

It just troubles me a bit because I want to give hrt the best chance of working, but cycling is my passion. The freedom of being out on the road is how I clear my head and deal with stress. Giving it up would be really, really difficult.

I doubt you will have any problems if you keep riding. I used to race bikes but gave up my license years ago. We can loose a good bit of muscle mass with HRT but if you keep up your riding you should be fine. Make sure you explain the level of exercise you are undertaking however. Many people do not understand how extreme cycling can be.

Charlie

IMO that muscle will stay.. you'll see some performance decrease but not lose the ability..

Ive lost a lot of strength, but as a long distance runner Im still doing about the same as before, although it does become slightly more difficult.

I'm not so much worried about performance I used to race but that isn't my goal anymore. If I loose muscle and cycling become harder that's ok. I'm more concerned with new fat distribution and feminine curves, and if too much riding would effect that.

I am not a serious biker but I ride many times per week. I've been seeing it help my hips and thighs change shape with the HRT. A few friends say that they are definitely seeing my body adapt and I believe highly aerobic exercise and HRT are working well together for me. At least it seems that way.

Having ridden behind some lovely women i don't see exercise affecting shape in anything other than a positive way. With time that will become a gift you will give to the riders behind you.

Hugs,

Charlie
