Those nations are trying to attract multi-national corporations to invest and even relocate to those locations. If this is how they plan to treat international employees, then many companies will simply say "no thanks". The article is a timely reminder to multi-national businesses that doing business with backwards cultures can expose your employees to unwanted dangers.

As a soccer lover, I also agree that FIFA should yank the 2022 World Cup from Kuwait for violating FIFA's anti-discrimination stance. An economic slap in the face might give them pause to reconsider.
