I am a post op Ftm. I have undergone top surgery and do not want to receive lower surgery at this time. My name change and gender marker has been changed on all my documents such as my social security and dmv records I sent in a letter from my top surgeon along with other documents for my birth certificate. I live in Pennsylvania and my wedding is planned for May I believed that I was in the clear to be married with my fiancée. Is there anyone at all that is educated on this?! Please.

Everything being changed before wedding means you will be male. If your Fiancée is recognized as female legally you should be in the clear. If not, there can be issues though you can probably work around it depending on when you apply for marriage license and such.

Even under the best of circumstances, recognize that almost under any condition where a trans person is in a marriage that while routine stuff such as taxes and such may be fine, there is always potential for the marriage to be challenged. This typically happens in such instances such as inheritance where people are fighting over money or like in lawsuit for money which challenging the marriage would nullify the lawsuit (such as wrongful death of spouse) so for best protection, insure one has proper will leaving to partner, and other legal contracts as necessary to protect your interests.

The laws in the US vary so much from state to state that it's hard for anyone to know the ins and outs of each state. The advice Drea gave you is good but as always, consult someone legally qualified with your state's specific laws to be certain.

Also, while certain trans organizations may be able to provide some legal guidance and be likely to be aware of specific trans issues, keep in mind they have their own agenda which may or may not be one you wish to support. Even if you generally support their agenda, when it comes to a legal challenge involving some trans issue you find yourself in, you might want to be more pragmatic in dealing with it than escalate it into a cause celeb.

I know of a couple cases where bad advise was given to the client because the lawyer doing the advising had a different agenda and hoped to use the case to further the Layer's agenda. When it went badly the client was the one that got hurt. One of these involved my therapist. Long story, enough said.
