What our new bottoms look like? Or is it just what the Surgeon can do with what we have, what they want or their skills and experience dictates?

I know very huge pain is the by-product for months? I try to minimize that thought with what I might gain.

Anyone that ever looked at naughty pictures and seen lots of examples in real life knows, they do not all look exactly alike. I have a picture or few, of ones that I like and would like to have one of. The one I dream of having, a particular one that looks like a flower in a bush with a pretty pink bud on top. (not exactly, that's just as best I can explain it without getting crude.) Could a Surgeon look at a picture and replicate it, or is that just too much to ask of current medical science.

Why do I ask these things? I'm not completely sure why. I want to be informed of it all, before I decide if it is a must have, for me. Sure I want to look down there and say "Wow! That's really me!" Giggle. Hug. JodyAnn

Since I've not been there yet, I can't say, but from what I have read the surgeon is largely restricted by available material plus their own specific techniques.

The key thing I've heard many post-ops say is that in conversations with their OBGYN, their physician simply says, "It looks normal to me."

Beyond that, I've not given it a lot of thought, other than a desire to be normal down there. :)

All I care about :) Sure, it would be awesome to have like, nude model caliber looks downstairs, but as long as it looks "normal" and works, I'll be one happy metal chick :D

I certainly agree with that criteria. But them again, if I can choose between a Corvette and a Ferrari? I want it in Italian racing green! Giggle. I hope the cost difference isn't as much as the cars though. I want a stripped down Buick LaSabre price tag. Giggle. Hug. JodyAnn

My doctor let me choose. But the choices weren't all that different, really. He does offer a no-charge touch-up if you want cosmetic perfection.

I just wanted my panties to look good, and I got that!

Something about this thread made me think of the movie, "Fried Green Tomatoes", where a support group of older women was asked to use a mirror to look at themselves. Most of them didn't want to see. I think I'd be in that group of women, actually. And that was somewhat a surprise - thinking I'd be spending a lot of time with a mirror there instead. It is what it is - and mostly it is what it is not!

Love, Megan

There is a Limerick that comes to mind just now, but it is a bit too salty for this site's G rating!! :D:blush::D

The doctor will see what parts you have and try to get the parts flying in a decent formation for whatever they are!! Having seen an Ob/Gyn a couple of times and being told that all my parts look within the range of normal except for a tiny scar line that could come from a genetic female's female surgery. The giveaway was primarily my big mouth, and the fact that my records go back to my pre history.

Are there any links or places to look to get the latest information of what GRS is like real world? Maybe if surgeons tell all it would drive away the clients? I doubt that seriously. Maybe this is a pipe dream for me anyway. Finding a way would sure be the sugar in my Cheerios, I think. Thanks for the replies all. Hug. JodyAnn

Firstly, I KNOW you are facing severe challenges now, hon. HANG IN THERE! Hey, I'm facing severe challenges too, but not as severe as yours. Keep the faith! It EVENTUALLY gets better.

Now, go to the source:

http://www.drchristinemcginn.com/

Dr. Christine McGinn (Philadelphia) is a T-girl, postop who IS a SRS/GCS surgeon, indeed, one of the very best! She did our own PaulaALTs surgery. Take the time to wade through her website, and you'll find a section with before and after surgery photos. You can do the same for Dr. Marcy Bowers. Likewise for Dr. Toby Meltzer who many say is the best in the business ... and also the most expensive.

All I can say is I've seen postop T-girl genitalia photos (generally of young T-girls) that will simply astound you. Looks absolutely like The Real McCoy! Scuttlebut on the web maintains the feel is very similar too. Imagine that! A top surgeon will have you akin to a postmenopausal and posthysterectomy female, i.e., minus uterus, adnexa, broad ligament, et cetera. So, NOBODY, save a gynecologist in bimanual examination and sterile speculum examination, will EVER know!

Now, older T-girls? Can't say that I know, honestly. However, as you well know, the nether regions of older genetic women are nothing to write home about, unfortunately. Not their fault! It's the vagaries of aging. At 15+ years doing full-time, acute-care, hospital transcription, I can tell you that older genetic women suffer a number of maladies that need attending to that we older T-girls will most likely be spared.

Just saying:

As for me, I most likely will NOT have SRS/GCS surgery. Why not? Well, I can't pass to save my life. Likewise, I'm older, so who cares anyway, really. Now, that's just me. Heck, nobody ever sees me down there anyway, so who cares?

If YOU want the surgery, GO FOR IT!

At the end of the day, Megan Rose gives the best advice on this topic. And, yes, I can tell you, Megan is VERY satisfied with her results! THAT is what it's all about. It comes down to you and what you want. SRS/GCS is not for everybody. Really think about it before you do it! Of course, this you already know!

Peace & Joy  Lacey Lynne

Lurid Footnote:

You can surf around on Google and find postoperative pictures, especially of younger T-girls, that they themselves have posted. You'll be amazed at just how good their surgical results have been. Their results are SOOO good, that this old perv, to use the vernacular of these kids, says:

"I'd tap that!" :excl::agreed::Crylol:

Surgeons can only do so much, it depends on your anamity, hip bones, internal organ placement and genital size pretty much dictate how much depth you will get and how good you will look afterwards is up to the surgeon's skill, no two woman's vagina's look the same.

Because of my anamity i did not get allot of depth, which i am fine with, at my first post op visit Dr. Mcginn shwed me what depth i had then said well at least it's not a penis, we both laughed, it looks good and i pee straight, what more could i ask for.

Folks, Paula knows! As ever, she gives us great advice/feedback. Thank you, Paula! Incidentally, Megan Rose, now postop for about 7 months, says exactly what Paula says. Take it to the bank, folks! THEY KNOW!

Miss you, Paula! Good to hear from you again!

Jody, just about all of the Dr.s have some pictures of happy clients happy parts on their web sites, or their offices can send you pictures if you need them to be sure. The sites all make you swear you are younger than your age, but at least an adult in your political jurisdiction so I am hesitant to post links to their sites here. I hit the "maximum depth" mark on my plastic boy friend with no trouble, I just wish he would talk to me though. I just wish he weren't plastic as well!!.

That has nothing to do with it. You don't have SRS for others, you have it for yourself.

Wow I did check out the before and after pics, amazing. I have seen my share of female parts in my life and I would have to say that those results look very natural. They actually get me more excited about having the surgery. I was ambivalent about it assuming that it would not be anything that natural looking but if I can look anything close to that good, I am highly motivated to make that happen.

Sorry, baby, but I've got to take issue with you on that one. We live in the real world. I'm nearly 4 years on hormone replacement therapy and use the ladies' locker room extensively at the gym I go to. I've been confronted once for being in there by this black lady. I diplomatically won that one. I'm in there legally.

Given that, just IMAGINE being postop and going to the showers with wide shoulders and a broad back (much more so that everybody else in the ladies' locker room) and, basically, a guy's face. Hey, I took my first estradiol tab at 2 months into being age 54. Testosterone did its thing on me. I've got a guy's face, shoulders, torso, back, arms ... no matter what.

Don't think I could take a shower in there, postop or not, without causing a major scene.

Passing is hugely important in real life. Many people pooh-pooh me for saying that and talk about living authentically. Well, we live in the real world. THAT MATTERS!

Now, that's just my take on it. I am entitled to it. I stand by it.

If anybody else wants surgery for themselves, hey, rock on, I say!

Me? I've got to deal with my social milieu realistically. It's an individual case. Heck, I often see where T-girls say they've been on hormone replacement therapy only 6 to 8 months or so and are gendered as female nearly all the time. Well, I'm on hormone replacement therapy just shy of 4 years, and I rarely get gendered correctly. Before people tell me I'm doing something wrong, I'll stand side by side with ANY over-50 girl on this forum, hell, any over-40 girl on this forum. I'm in great shape for my age. Not bragging. Just saying. My body is way male no matter how much estradiol in ingest. Surgery, for me, may not be a realistic option.

EXCELLENT!

If at all possible, go to ONE OF THE TOP SURGEONS! They ARE the top surgeons for a very good reason. Toby Meltzer, Christine McGinn and, most often, Marci Bowers do not just surgery, but artistry!

Hope all of you who WANT the surgery can have it ... with a kick-butt doctor!

With Dr. McGinn's directions, it's only every day (6x for 8 weeks, 4x for the next 12, once for the rest of year 1, then twice a week for the rest of your life) for a year...I think I can handle that...especially if I'm one of the lucky ones that can orgasm via dilation :)

And Lacey, I totally respect your decision and position, but you being the senior rocker girl her (and I mean that with the utmost respect!) should be the first one to not give a flying phooey about what's between your legs and how it relates to passing! :)

I'm still working on reality checks. Sure I could do the dilation thing and will probably spaz a lot! Oh Lord, Jody remember the audience... Thinking carefully... I prefer Bo Diddly to Pokey Mon. I hope any partner I might find, would be great conversationalist. I enjoy a cunning linguist, being one myself not withstanding. Moving right alone...

In my research there is a burst in my bubble. I find that a nice puffy labia flower and a protruding button are actually a problem for some natal women. Constant movement and fabric choices in panty fashions can be an equally constant irritation and they sometimes have to have surgical reductions. That was a tid bit I never knew and never considered. Now I very much do. I know the surgeon will be very savvy, I may get even further enlighten upon consultation.

I so can't wait. I often suspend my animation, I lose track of it and I think my joy is already done. Whoa, back up Jody TMI. Anyway hug. JodyAnn

JodyAnn:

Did you say Bo Friggin' Didley, baby?!?

ALLLRRRIIIGGGHHHTTT!!!

Bo's Da Man!!! So is Muddy Waters, et cetera! Thanks for your very kind message to me. Sorry to not answer it yet. M'bad ... sigh! Dang, Girl, hit me up and we'll rock out to The Chicago Blues and then switch to Blue-Eyed Soul like Janis Joplin, Mitch Ryder and The Detroit Wheels, et cetera. We'll be slamminest old-timers around! Hooha!!!

To Kylie2112:

Dang, baby, thanks for the kudos! You rock too! You inspired me to start a new thread (if ever get around to actually DOING it ... sigh). That thread would be:

Okay, transfolks! Let's say God (or, like, whatever!) actually appeared to us, KNEW us for who we really were/are/will be and offered to spontaneously transmogrify us into our target gender as a who we'd actually be ... had we been born into our target/preferred gender. Dang, baby, I'd be Joan Jett!!!

Joanie wouldn't give a flyin' flip WHAT she was brandishing betwixt her legs, this I can assure you! Dang, I love Joan Jett!

Peace Out  Lacey Lynne

So, who would YOU be?!?!?

hi vidanjali !! i know exactly what you mean, i do have a few trans and otherwise queer friends nearby me but currently i present as 'cis' for obvious reasons so it's not all that easy for me to reach out and find that kind of community (though i do love my irls!!)   but yeah, i get this weird paranoia that if i come out to too many people it'll end up tracing back to my folks (not everyone knows my family is homophobic and being outed is a big fear of mine)   but im sooo happy to know that that feeling was just dysphoria !! i thought i was going crazy for a minute !!.   thanks so much for welcoming me, and you have a great day too !!

I have a fantastic therapist. She is so caring she has helped me open up so much. Unfortunately, She is ending her internship. Do to a hiring freeze at the VA she isn't going just go right into a position there.  My Endo is out of the Denver VA hospital. I haven't talked with her in probably 2 yrs. I am  looking to transfer providers and get back to seeing a GYN at the Cheyenne VA.

Shopping at the mall today and helping out at Torrid I excused myself to the restroom. The manager told me the restroom at JC Penny was much closer (I normally use the family restroom in the food court).   Upon arrival I discovered that JC Penny doesn't have a family restroom, it's either or.   The men's room was occupied with customers, and me going in with large breasts, long hair, and makeup was going to cause a stir, so I opted for the woman's room instead. I was the only one in the woman's room.    Texas state law does state that your must use the restroom that matches your chromosomes, and it's a misdemeanor to not do so, but it seemed to be the best choice (I really needed to go!)

I had some guy grab my butt on the ship.  I don't know how "real" it was, but I did not enjoy that at all.  Also did not enjoy the hazing I saw other people going through.  One person can only do so much to stop that when there are 10 people doing it.

This internet video thing is pretty amazing.  I'd call it Zoom, but there are other platforms out there.  I prefer Zoom over Teams because Zoom puts me and everyone else in the same picture.  I like seeing the whole group in one shot.  Teams of course is about having so many people that you can't get them in the shot, or is it?   Just saying that I have never met any of my counselors in person.  Doctors, of course I have and I am lucky there.  They are 3.5 miles from my house as is the main transgender surgery place in town.  I've been doing virtual visits with the medical doctors lately though.  It feels like once I became steady state, they don't need to interact with me physically that much.  I have enjoyed going into their office in my nice clothing.
