Hard to Admit, But I'm Addicted

This is going to sound totally retro, if not downright silly, but I have to admit that I'm addicted to a computer game.

Solitaire.

I started playing months ago, and now I spend probably 1-2 hours a day playing. Not constantly, but if I'm monitoring the boards here, and its slow, I'll load the game and play in between approving posts (sorry, ME, but you know, I'm an addict. :P ).

I've played 4,633 games, won 682 (about 14.75 per cent), my longest win streak is 5 games, and my current (losing) streak is 10 games. My longest losing streak was 37 games, near the end of which I became downright depressed. :(

I'm searching for an S.A.A. club (Solitaire Addicts Anonymous), but haven't found one yet. I'll search again after I play a few more games. ;)

HUGS

I can understand that - it's not silly at all. At least it's not Candy Crush lol (I joke with friends about this). You seem almost as obsessed with statistics as I am :)

My game at the moment is Sudoku on ipad. I don't really get addicted as such though because I am really more addicted to jumping from interest to interest - doing lots of things at the same time ie multitasking

It does not give me much chance of addiction to any individual pursuit

Johnny here. Pogo games -Yahtzee and Poppitt

I am still too in denial to calculate time spent or dare read my stats.

Fair warning- it started with Solitaire-a gateway-and has progressed from there down a slippery slope.

.This one does contribute to my rotund belly and my carpal tunnel syndrome. Perhaps a chapter of SAA is in the cards?

Love, Megan

Pun intended, Megan? :P

I've somehow avoided those addictions. I've had plenty of other ones. My biggest now is Laura's, just ask my wife.

Hugs,

There are indeed what are referred to as "Process Addictions" and they affect the same brain structure the same way as chemical addictions do. Two of the oldest known process addictions are nymphomania and gambling addiction, and there are 12 step programs. If the game begins to interfer with your life and starts taking more and more time and becomes more important than most interpersonal relations etc. You may need help!! It actually does exist, but look it up on google if you can tear yourself away from your game.

hello, my name is Erik, and i am addicted to spider solitaire, sudoku, and diner dash. i've been battling this for years. i've even run down the battery all the way on my phone because of these games. what if someone needed to text me?! my phone would have been dead. until i could charge it back. but then guess what i would do? play more games.

ok...all joking aside...i do feel that these games consume me sometimes! they can be very hard to step away from. also, we all seem to be addicted to games that challenge us mentally on at least some level. the ones that really get you thinking. go us!!

Erik ;)

Hi, I'm _______ and my gaming addiction knows no bounds. I now create games inside my own head. I need to tidy the flat? I give myself objectives to complete and imagine monsters and such things are around that i have to fight off. I get rewards for each level i complete. I've found it's helped me a lot though. I sometimes get addicted to Tetris and solitaire, spider solitaire Mahjong titans then also the more 'modern games'

Hi, I'm Jody and I may be SAA. I can't in good conscience receive my 24 hour chip as I play almost every day. I want to find a sponsor, chair a meeting and get a Big Book, though I have no money to do so. I can make good coffee until then. I pass

I had that going on with my last two partners who were 20 years older than me.  One of them looked older for her age as well.  I remember a couple times being in the grocery store a decade ago and having people ask "can I help you ladies with something?" and then I'd turn around with my red beard.  Well before I started transitioning, but my partner knew I was trans back then.   I struggle with this as well.  My music and political career can have a masculine edge to it that I don't like.  It's been really frustrating lately.  I don't like pushing myself on others or telling people what to do.  I've been running a website for 25 years and have virtually never tried to promote it or even look at any analytics.  I don't want to push it on anyone.  I put what I have on it and make it publicly available.  It's part of my production process.  It keeps me sane and if someone else can find it useful, then I'm happy to share.

I'm curious, but then if I am true to myself, I have a hard time being in crowds.  I love hearing great music, but being in an audience is such a turnoff for me that I don't go to concerts or bars.  I'm just very much a producer.  I actually like doing the dishes more than going to concerts because it's an active thing.

My therapist is trying a new tact. I've named my self protection self that ssays not eating or too much exercise because when I starting because oftrauma my protective self started and also at the time the name Shay came to me and is now part of my name.  It's not like having a split personality, just my primative self protection who is always there to help me. My therapist has Shay, me and him working as a team to assure her that I am safe and to start changing her role in my life so I protect me by eating right and exercising to maintain a heathy body. It is helping a little but we just started this a few weeks ago.

Good morning, everyone!!   Yesterday was lawn mower battery day. I've been nursing the battery on my Zero Turn mower for two weeks. It gave up the ghost when I stopped to refuel yesterday so I had to run over to the local shop to get a new one. And forgot my wallet so I had to drive home and back again.   Then, I was using the garden tractor with the bagger to pick up the clippings. I cut about 7 acres so it took me awhile. When I was done, I went to refuel it and, of course, it wouldn't start when I'd finished putting in the gas. I'm hoping it was just some corrosion on the cables - cleaned them up, gave it a quick charge and it started right up. We'll see if it will hold a charge now or turn out like the Zero Turn.   House cleaning day today. And then I'm going to just relax outside for a bit and enjoy one more warm day before our temps drop and rain comes in for the weekend.   Enjoy this beautiful day we've been given!!

Striking your head against the wall, you can lose 150 calories an hour. Blue color attracts mosquitoes in two times more than any other. Most toilet paper sold for home use in France is pink. In 2014, a missing woman on a vacation in Iceland was found when it was discovered that she was in the search party looking for herself. In 2005, Mark Zuckerberg unsuccessfully tried to sell Facebook for $75 million. Back then it was called TheFacebook. Strawberries can also be white or yellow, and some can even taste like pineapples! The Boston Marathon didn’t allow female runners until 1972. Banks have therapists known as ‘wealth psychologist’ who help ultra-rich clients, who are unable to mentally cope with their immense wealth.

I attend a medical day-centre in Texas for needed medical services. It's religious oriented, so not gender fluid friendly. I of course dress 100% in female attire yet androgynous to keep both "them happy", and I really don't mind.    I of course am imposed rules that no other participant is bound by. The examples are the allowed size of my backpack, or how many visits per day I can see my Representative payee.  The gender neutral restroom use was a compromise that all off us have agreed to.  Not being able to wear tanks tops or shorts that aren't "Bermuda length" are other examples of where I am restricted more than any other participant. "Bra talk" is strictly forbidden, even though their doctor and occupational therapist were the ones that told me I needed support due to neck pain.    I found myself being reprimanded by staff three times yesterday for very petty details, and they have constantly pushed for me to remove myself from the program voluntarily. I am of course someone not welcomed in the program, but federal discrimination laws prevent them from removing me. They instead are just making life miserable with the hopes that I will leave on my own.
