i do like that justice was served for this awful act. i don't like that they referred to the victim as male and used her birth (male) name. since she is trans she should be spoken of with her chosen name. i understand the media making the point that she is trans...but then shouldn't they use the female names and pronouns?

First off I may seem callus when I say waaaaaa. The kid knew what he was doing when he lured her( the reporters need a class on prefixes or whatever) and shot her multiple times. What rials me alot ladies is when trying to get a light sentence how they always play the he didn't have a father around he would have been different. Bu........! I grew up without a father in a effed up neighborhood I grew up fine.

And this I am right with God crap. He thought they would go easy on him cause momma told him to pray to God and you will recieve your salvation and they will see you have repented your evil ways. Well they were clearly not moved or swayed by his sudden last minute salvation. They aren't sentencing the person you are since God touched his heart they're sentencing the animal you were when you harmed this woman.

He figured he got played and dissed so he had the right to kill her whoops he failed and now he will be middle aged by the time he gets out cause it sounds like the judge has decided he will serve the full 25 before he gets out. Maybe a lesson will be learned he that this kinda actions and level of hate will not be tolerated and a few less people will find themselves in the silver bracelets. Sorry again fro the rant. I have seen too many people get light punishment or off with pity me excuses or remorse and salvation.

I would have to find the original story of the crime to know whether the victim self-identifies as male.

for the most part i agree with you. his grandmother was saying that he could change and that he was funny like it was going to keep him out of prison. this topic is liable to start a political war. but basically i think he got what he deserved. it is unfortunate that he is going in as his dad is coming out.

The police call the victim, who worked with police when they were investigating, as a CD and 'he'. They also added hate crime charges so they prob believed his side.

Not all TGs have a gender ID that is different than their birth sex.

Teens typically have deminished ability for rational thought . The frontal lobes of a teenagers brain is not like that of an adult. The parts that involve critical thinking empathy rational are not much more developed than that of a 8 year old. It is why the fast majority of teens are not accused of clear and level thinking. This pattern is seen in serial killers and generally more violent offenders as well . Either damage to the frontal lobe or serious under development of it.

I do not doubt his abilty to change . His brain is still developing so it is a given that he will change and eventually become really sorry for what he did.

But it also does not excuse what he has done either .

I am always a little saddened when it does come to this. Had he maybe had a more positive role model this whole situation possibly could have been avoided.
